and that didn't work (maybe a dumb move but this is the only place where i think they could be)

I upgraded to a set of draconic armor tonight and for the most part I like it. The flight speed from the chest outpaces every other form of flying I've tried on the mod pack me and a friend are playing on (ftb infinity), however the up and down flight is painfully slow. It's like being in creative mode flight going up and down. It really kills using this suit for flying. We also have modular power suits mod added to the pack cause I've liked using it in the past and even though the overall flight speed on it is slower, it feels far superior with the quick up and down movements when combining the jetpack with the jetboots.

So, I'm wondering is this really intended for the up and down speed to be so painfully slow, or am I missing a configuration setting or something somewhere to alleviate this problem?

That is something that bugs me as well. Its because the chest just gives creative flight and most of the speed boost comes from the leggings which just boost forward momentum. I think i will look into it and see if there is something i can do to increase the up and down flight speed.

Not sure i like the draconic sword in the grinder recipe. That may be a little too much. Specially if i make all the recipes more expensive. But maby just two wyvern swords because i admit the grinder is a rather powerful block for the price.

I think maby i will just add a "hardcoreRecipes" option to the config that will increase the cost of all items. (feel free to make other recipe guggestions for hardcore recipes mode)

I kinda like the nether star block but to avoid conflicts with other mods i think i will make it 8 stars around a draconic core. When crafted beck into stars you get back the 8 stars but loos the code. And theoretically any effect should be able to go up to level 127 so wither 3 should be a piece of cake.

I am going to be redesigning the chaos guardian some time soon anyway so i think i will just leave it till then.

My first thought was base defense. Im thinking i would have 3 different tiers (made with the 3 cores) each with a longer range then the last and you would use them in a similar way to the IC2 Tesla coils. And to be honest i dont think 8 stars is to cheap. If anything i think its to expensive for what it dose. I mean the iron spike from extra utilities will kill you just as easily if your stupid enough to go stand on one.

As for the potential for griefing. In my experience most griefers get banned or move on to a different server long before they could afford 8 nether stars. Sure i may prank one of my friends by putting one of these in their base. But then my friend would just collect it with his draconic staff and say thanks for the nether stars.

That is due to a limitation with the RF API. You have two options. You can check how much power is in the core with a comparator (not very accurate) or you could install Computertronics which adds peripheral support to the core.

I will also be adding peripheral support at some point.

Yea i was planning to make it redstone controlled. Otherwise it would be to impractical to use. The IC2 tesla coil is just a block that you feed a tone of power and it zaps anything in a think a 5 block radius around it (been a while since i have used it) and it is insta kill if i recall correctly.

A draconic staff costs 22 (?) nether stars, so someone having one probably does not care too much about another 8 stars; and such a person probably has enough armor or regen to not die by Wither III anyway.

I was talking about non-endgame players here, so no staff, and thus no way to remove them (if it also has a radius of more than 2 blocks for the effect, it also kills everything short of full draconium armor + healing buff long before someone without the staff could mine it).

I guess my point is. If a griefer can afford to make one of these they can already do a lot worse. I mean if they already have a staff they could eat most of someones base with just one click. So its kinda impractical for griefing unless they just want to be a pain in the ass and not actually destroy anything. Which reminds me. Most large servers have grief prevention which would make it impossible to use this block. However i know of a couple mods (which i will not mention) that allow you to completely bypass grief prevention and do enormous damage.

Core is 3 blocks off the floor, with 3 blocks clearance above it. Particle generators are at the correct cardinal positions, at the same exact y level, every one of them 4 blocks away from the core. I put the cobble in the pic to show but it is not actually in the build.

I also have draconium blocks (not charged) that I tried to surround the core with and activate as Tier 1 but that failed too.

Which version of DE are you using? Before snapshot 4 there was a problem with railcraft fake air blocks preventing the core from activating.

also how about inverting night vision behavior for the Draconioc helmet ? instead of automatic activation when it's dark it will be always on when enabled but there is the option for automatic activation or you might as well get rid of it , don't get me wrong it's such a cool feature but it gets too flashy sometimes

There is already an option to "lock" night vision so it is always on and if i recall correctly there is an option to turn it off completely.
