Underground Biomes Constructs is not compatible with Biomes O' Plenty
They should not be used together.
I have tested version test46 on four different computers with windows 7/10 and different Java installs.
If you fly around the world causing new areas of the map to be generated for the first time-- after a little while, UBC causes the world generation to freeze up and become non functional, and this happens on every computer, every time, no matter what with 100% reproducability.

How much flying is required? My current playing game is UBC/BoP and I've done a couple of creative fly-arounds and I haven't had any trouble. Also, what BoP and Forge?

I have observed this to be true.
I really, really want this mod to work the way it's supposed to. In part because no other mod claims to do it which is at all extensible for mod ores, but also because I've put time and effort into UBCOR myself. I also want it to work because I really want my mod pack to have a stable version of it.
How much flying is required? My current playing game is UBC/BoP and I've done a couple of creative fly-arounds and I haven't had any trouble. Also, what BoP and Forge?
In a client with only UBC test46, BoP 2.1.0.1889, and Forge 1566, I am getting these results. I fly in a straight line in any direction with max view distance set. Eventually, it will stop loading chunks and may not recover unless you stop and hover in place for a long time. It also may not recover at all. If it doesn't stop loading chunks, it will outright crash.
This appears to happen most during chunk generation.
- Some seeds seem to freeze up much sooner than others.
- Set sprinting key for 4x speed and fly to the edge of the map so you can see the black edge and wait for the world to load.
- Possibly enable Multi-Core chunk loading in OptiFine so you can cover more ground quickly with faster chunk loading.
- Press F3 and watch the MultiplayerChunkCache.
- After flying around for 10 minutes so you can see the black edge of the map and turning around to watch the world finish loading, one of those times the world will just never finish and the ChunkCache count stops changing.
In a client with only UBC and BoP, sprint-fly in a straight line. Eventually, it will stop loading chunks and not recover, even if you stop and hover in place for a long time.
Exactly identical behavior here.
It's less than 10 minutes, more like 5 minutes of flying and I have never encountered any BoP+UBC setup on any Forge version on any computer where that does not happen.
After flying around for 10 minutes so you can see the black edge of the map and turning around to watch the world finish loading, one of those times the world will just never finish and the ChunkCache count stops changing.
Actually, if you continue flying far enough, you can get the client to completely unload all chunks.
Have you tested this without Optifine or FastCraft?
I have this vague recollection I had to fiddle with some of the chunk/world decoration settings in either UBC's or FastCraft's config file to keep this from happening in my BOP+ExtraBiomesXL+UBC world. There was a problem with BOP's decorators getting into a race condition with UBC's.
If I remember, I'll check the settings when I get home.
ETA: I forgot, that modpack's config is on GitHub. I checked it now...
in undergroundbiomes.cfg, try:
# Change stones during chunk generation
B:InChunkGeneration=false
You may also want to try one or more of:
# Convert ores to have Underground Biomes stone backgrounds
B:UBifyOres=false
# Clear the world var in BiomeGenBase for recursive generation
B:clearVarsForRecursiveGeneration=true
With or without Fastcraft and OptiFine makes no difference. That is not related to what I am reporting on here. This freezing occurs universally with nothing else required except Biomes O' Plenty and Underground Biomes Constructs mods only.
Fastcraft and OptiFine allow you to expose the problem faster because you don't have to wait forever for the chunks to load. You will be able to cover much more ground in a short time when you enable multi-core chunk loading and use the 5 chunk updates per frame setting in OptiFine.
I will re-test again with clearVarsForRecursiveGeneration on the new test46.
Have you tested this without Optifine or FastCraft?
Yes, I have in fact tried this without FastCraft and without Optifine. I am testing with only UBC, UBC Ore Registrar, CoFH Core, and BoP.

It's okay. This is really a problem I think you and the BoP staff need to be conversing about. Folks want to use BoP more than they apparently want UBC (which is why UBC doesn't show up in a lot of mod packs). For now, I've dropped BoP from my mod pack in favor of UBC because I want the variety of stone more. I want both, ultimately.

But UBC isn't the sole cause of the problem. If BoP isn't installed and UBC is, the issue doesn't occur, regardless of what other mods are installed. This makes it an interaction between the two mods, which means that if nobody tries to fix the problem, each mod is equally at fault.
The texturing has to be done by outside mods- you have the Tinker's because Tinker's supports it, and I guess the others don't. UBC provides the framework, but something else has to provide the artwork. I would suggest trying WTFOres, which adds textures for a huge variety of ore.
The null textures should already be fixed - what version are you using? I actually specifically have Tinker's ores in a world I'm playing now.
I'm actually working on some problems with the buttons and with displaying stairs items and I should have another version out shortly.
Apologies for the late reply. I didn't get a reply notification, and I had a rather busy week so far, so I was only able to check the thread at this point.
I believe I was using version test43 at that time, which was the most recent version on Curse at the time of my writing.
Updated to test46. Can confirm, old null textures now render properly. World looks much better, now
I'm going to try WTFOres, to see if I can increase the immersion. Though it's mostly fine as it is, now.
Thank you so much for your help, and thank you again for the work you're doing with the mod.
BoP and UBC are FULLY compatible with InChunkGeneration=true
That's an hour of constant flying in a spiral with both on, in a BoP world. You can see BoP Pine Log to the left, some ubified ore to the right, and the marker where I stopped to put up this wall map.

Current beta updated with fix for unconverted ores: beta47 The defaults for InChunkGeneration are changed to true; however, existing players either have to edit their configs or throw them out and let the game regenerate them.
Without Optifine? Even after (slightly over) 60 minutes I wasn't having any trouble. Generation kept up just fine with full-speed flying the whole time. On a 4-year old Mac laptop even, with 2 gigs assigned.
Oh, and what Fastcraft version?

That was one of the coolest things. I don't use any optimizers, generally, and I was flying around at full speed most of the time without any lags in the chunk delivery and rendering. There were some two instances when it almost hung up, but it never actually did. And I flew round for in excess of 1.5 hours.
