I am really sad to see you go mate but i understand, will you be uploading your latest build of thaumcraft 6 for people to use or will that stay with your patreons subs now?
There are some good people willing to help him carry the torch of TC6 to release hopefully he'll be ok with that, oh and btw Ars Magica is out for 1.10.2, Twilight Forest is being ported to 1.10/1.11 now and Roots is slowly adding alot of the features of Witchery per the Dev himself. As for Metallurgy it shows signs of life via github, so I feel it will be coming around to new versions as well. My point? Don't give up on newer versions of Minecraft as the modding community isn't
"If you don't understand the bigger picture, writitng a program is difficult. That's true with any computer programming language, not just java. If you're typing code without knowing what it's about, and the code doesn't do exactly what you want it to do, then your just plain stuck." - Dr Burd
Owner/Admin of the amazing and awesome super custom modded Ninjacat Server!
Now playing in survival, in versions higher than 1.7.10, it seems almost impossible to me.
Many great mods have already died after 1.8.9, and many others have worsened their quality (for example: twilight forest does not exist, witchery does not exist, ars magic does not exist, metallurgy does not exist).
With every great mod that dies, a piece of minecraft also dies.
Seriously, Mojang should facilitate and support the creation of mods, minecraft would not be a famous game if it had not been for its mods. It would have been nothing.
They seem to be intentionally attacking modders with arbitrary changes.
I'm offering my help to assist you on this mod if you are willing to do this. I know a few other mainstream modders also expressed interest. I have a lot of experience with mods on 1.10.2 and 1.11.2 and I'm very active in the modding community. If you want to talk about this feel free to leave me a message.

So i have been working on my enclosed taint biome - what i am trying to do is keep the taint contained inside the area on the minimap and not decay away (so i have a 30 water node thats tainted in the center)to stop it i had a wall with ethereal blooms that are placed in strategic areas to make the most of the 8 8 radius of them, however with the first attempt i tried to use about 16 blooms but the taint would keep eating away at the wall. so now what ive done is stuffed a bunch more blooms along the wall and now its fixed the issue of the taint eating through my wall and corrupting stuff, but now ive got another issue which you can see in 1 of the images, the taint now keeps trying to expand and ends up going under the ground a fair bit and then when it hits a surface block in the bloom area it decays away and slowly starts making these holes which just make it look nasty, im willing to put up with it if i absolutely have to but i really would like some help in trying to figure out what i can do to get a steady balance, that or a block that i can use to fill in the holes that taint wont eat that still fits in with the look i have goin here.
Thanks!
Nothing stops taint from corrupting blocks except incorruptible blocks (such as air) Ethereal bloom also doesn't stop it,it just destroys it faster than it spreads.
And it spreads through the air, too. Kind-of. But you'll know that.

Said that, an air gap and blooms to ward off taint is the only way to contain it.
Sorry guys, I have to put TC on hold. Check the OP for my reasons.
Would you be able to release the patreon build so people could have a little bit of thaumcraft to test out? If not that's ok, take all the time you need.

you can't release an unfinished product that you won't support. Bugs might come up and will never be fixed. You can't just provide the files and expect people to just "test it". While I would love to have the current version in my hands, I would recommend against it for those reasons

I think that part of it is that minecraft was not built to be as big as it is so they are forced to constantly change things so that they can add stuff. For example after 1.12 there are only two unused block IDs left so 1.13 is going to need to change the block ID system so that they can add more blocks.
Sad days. Worst news in modded minecraft history ever.
Uh, no pressure though. Thanks for everything you've given the MC universe azanor, take some time to see what's going on outside your home office. Did you know Trump got elected american president??? Srsly!
It's unfortunate that this came about after what seemed like so much momentum toward the update but life happens, we all know that. The Minecraft Modding Community sheds a collective tear this day but good luck with your studies and we hope you make your triumphant return at some point. Thanks for everything you've done, you've provided many of us with the impetus to actually keep playing Minecraft at this point.
With Emoniph (Witchery dev) dissapearing last year, I was excited to see Thaumcraft updating, so it's dissapinting to see it put on hold.
Fortunately I am super patient and will wait to play Thaumcraft 6, no matter what version it will come out for, just don't forget about us - your fans, OK?

Please Aznor, take McJty and the other modders up on their word. You might not feel like this but TC is too good to let die. Minecraft has moved on to 1.11.2 and beyond and there are many talented modders out there that can at least get TC5 up to snuff. The Twilight Forest developers just recently amended their licence to allow modders to bring that wonderful mod forward. I implore to to do the same. Extend licence to the top Patron folks to spearhead an effort to bring TC out of the shadows and back into modern day MC.
TC6 may be for another day, and something that I think only you should do. Leaving TC5 alone to rot seems like a a colossal mistake when there are so many people that love it and will help to make it something that others will enjoy. Isn't that why you do this? It's why modders mod. To make a fun thing, even more fun.
Please...for all of us players that look at TC as the gold standard of mods, allow the community (the very same community that you helped to build) to help.

I would love it if someone also took the time to bring back Witchery now that you mention Emoniph. So much potential in it, especially considering the amount of irl people who are practitioners of the wiccan religion, which is strikingly similar to much of what Witchery does (minus the vampire/werewolf/voodoo side of it).

I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!
Hmm, I believe that some modders will replicate features of Thaumcraft they like in own mods, and it wouldn't be a bad thing, because there will be more competition in magic mods area. Thaumcraft has been the most feature-rich magic mod, although I still hate its research systems. The only other magic mod I enjoyed was Dartcraft, but it was abandoned.
That said, if you look at the mod amount at https://bot.notenoughmods.com, you will see that there are 1200 mods for 1.7.10, 329 for 1.10.2 and 168 for 1.11.2. This is quite a drop. I wonder how many mods there will be for next version.
Is there a way to disable bow of bone auto fire?
I'm gunna need to pour a beer out over this news......I hope ya keep on keeping but but would be nice to see the mod kept going.

I wouldn't go that far, no, but Mojang is not giving enough love to its modding-community, imho .. skip all the mods and Minecraft is cut in half ..
