the sanity checker is indeed only available from the eldritch tab. Is this wrong?
I believe that wiki is wrong, last time I played TC4 I had the sanity checker before the Eldritch tab. I think it's craftable. Besides, that's the fandom wiki, which isn't official.
In Thaumcraft 4 there are two Eldritch steps to take.
I believe that one is called "Eldritch Revelation". The other is definitely called "Eldritch Epiphany".
The first one opens up the Eldritch tab, which does contain the Sanity Checker. The second opens up the researches needed to go to the Outer Lands.
Well being unable to measure your own sanity before unlocking the Eldritch tab is a little ridiculous. I'd say it should be in artificing, behind other tools.

Ah, but how should you know you should be checking your sanity in the first place before realizing that Cthulhu wishes to hug you?

in one of the older versions of thaumcraft you could use a portal system. I hope azanor brings that back in the form of magic mirrors you can walkthrough.
Edit:I did research, but I am not sure this the right.

You can find crash logs in "crash-reports", which is in the .minecraft folder.
Found a new crimson obelisk. I'm better prepared now: I know the mechanics, have a glass wall around the clerics, have name tags, invisibility potions, and a gravity gun to move the knights around without aggroing them (tested it on a test world, it works). The clerics are still beaming and there are multiple...
Anyways, are pech common? How useful are they? I also found a magical forest biome (same expedition) and I want to know if getting one to spawn is worth it at my point in the game.
The only thing that a pech is good for is for getting the pech curse wand focus, though it is not a great wand focus(unless you get the nightshade focus upgrade in which case it is okay), if you want them all trading with a pech is the only way. Also If you attempt to get the focus from them make sure that it is a thaumaturge pech(they have a wand) and give the items with high amounts of the aspect related to value(cannot remember how it is spelled and am to lazy to look it up) such as treasure bags are good items to use for trading with them.
I wonder how many people actually use LAN versus setting up a server on their PCs, I mean... isn't TC worth going that extra mile anyways? Setting up a local server is relatively easy.

It'd be better to know how close you were to getting the Eldritch tab.

THE WAIT IS UNBEARABLE!

Not really. I used FTB Wiki for TC4.

Could you post a crash log?
All hail Ro-Naza!
This isn't the full log and that's what we need. Also it is best to use a spoiler:
Keeps your posts shorter.
Using UUID prevent the use of the mod on offline servers. It was specifically changed to use player name to avoid losing research data unnecessarily.
Waaait, really? Using UUID means no LAN TC? Not cool.

That's what did I mean by "unnecessarily".
Also, mmmmagic mmmirrors? DO WANT! \o/

You might have to drill down in the MC folder; look for <Profile Name> or <Instance Name> folders.
Course, if your using another launcher, check that folder.

Yeah, I want to know this too...Is TC6 not going to be LAN compatible?
I wonder how many people actually use LAN versus setting up a server on their PCs, I mean... isn't TC worth going that extra mile anyways? Setting up a local server is relatively easy.
