Please bring back the old Thaumometer, this new one is really annoying. There is a bug in 5.2.4 (i think that's the version) where after you unlock an aspect it doesn't show up in the research table. The only way you can get new ones is by combining. So please fix these. It's an amazing mod, thanks!

Everything is working as intended. The scanning mechanic isn't the same as it was in TC4. You don't gain research points from scanning.

Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.
this may have been questioned before, but i didn't found anything in this post. My question is what are the exact requirements for shards to grow? I have some tainted and other shards placed on the surface on stone and was waiting for over 1 hour, but not a single crystal grew a secont one. In the thaumoonomicon it only reads that it must be places on stone, but are there some other requirements?
High levels of that aspect in the aura are needed.

Vis crystals grow when there are large amounts of vis in the aura. So if you want to farm ordo crystals, then it would be a good idea to have an ordo node nearby because it'll be putting a lot of ordo vis into the aura.

And if you want the tainted crystal you overload a crucible in the chunk
Thank you all for the fast answers! Could you also recommend any chunk-loader mods i can use with minecraft 1.8.9? The aura near my spawn chunks and base is not very high and chicken chunks has no version for 1.8.9.
There's a way to use Spawn Chunks to chunkload things that are fairly far away, by putting a hopper facing into a non-spawn chunk from a spawn chunk, the game keeps the non-spawn chunk loaded (sort of). If you repeat this in a straight line, then you can "pull" spawn chunk properties as far as you have hoppers to connect the chunks.
NOTE: Make sure you make at least a 5x5 grid of connected chunks and put the thing you want loaded in the center chunk to make that one chunk loaded like a true spawn chunk. the outermost connected chunks do not process everything the middle chunk will.
What about add a magic fire capable to affect until to nether mobs and burn over water?
I suggest add a new basic alchemical substance (as the nitor, alumentum and magic fat).
The cinis would be a throwable item (as alumentum) with a texture similar to nitor and alumentum, may be with a green colour.
When the cinis collides with a block or liquid, creates "magic green fire" blocks in a space of 3x3x3 blocks.
This magic fire would be capable to burn even over the water and lava without disappear, during several seconds (may be 10 or 20 seconds).
This magic fire would react with near fuel blocks causing normal fire in these.
This magic fire causes a "fire damage" for several seconds as normal fire, but this "fire status" has a green texture and can not be removed with water, and would affect to all type of mob, even nether mobs (that are invulnerable to normal fire), except bosses, obviously.
The cinis would have the next recipe in the crucible:
3 ignis
3 potentia
3 precantio
And bone or bone powder (I'm not decided) as catalyst.
It is inspired in "greek fire" ancient vizantine alchemic weapon.
I like this, we definitely need some sort of cursed flames that water can't put out (and has water in the block, because air bubbles would look odd. Look at the clams from Mariculture to know what I mean). If for nothing else than it looks awesome.
Also, according to google translate, alumentum means "FOOD". Well, I don't think I'd want to eat it, but I'm sure someone would.

Google Translate is leaving out part of the definition. It means "fuel" as well as "food" in the sense of "something that keeps things going". It's the root of the French "aliment" which is definitely food, and also the verb "alimenter" which can be used in expressions like "fuel the flames" for example. In Latin it had a broader meaning. No need to eat it.
Regarding Cinis, I like the idea as presented by the original quoted person, but not if it affects Nether mobs. They're supposed to be immune to combustion by design and there's already plenty of other ways in Thaumcraft to harm them.

I use SimpleChunkLoader in the meantime. but beware: it has a tendency to cause game crashes when traveling from one dimension to another, so back up your world often and set your saves to every 3 min at least if you use Optifine.

Could anybody tell me how to set up my forge workspace so I can mod Thaumcraft? I have the dev build, the API, Eclipse, Forge, and everything I need, I just don't know how to get Eclipse to see all the Thaumcraft files.

Step 1. Toss Eclipse and use IntelliJ.
Other than that I don't know. Ive never managed to set up a dev workspace with a mod in it so I have no idea how modders test for mod compatibility. I thought that, given a dev build - you would put it into the 'mods' folder?

Did you extract the Thaumcraft files where Eclipse expects to see them? Or are you asking where, under your Eclipse folders, you're supposed to extract them?
(I'd also suggest asking under 1.8.9 Thaumcraft mod threads for what their setup is.)

Yeah, I realized about this, in fact, I suggest "cinis" like name because it mean ash or quicklime in latin, and quicklime was a component of greek fire.
So, you like the idea of add this incendiary weapon, but you do not like that affect to nether mobs and related. I going to change some details of the idea in the future, but I need more critics from others players to change well.
Thanks to you two for criticism.
That sounds like you want to make an item/magic that dissolves things? Lime (also lye, made from ash) are components for bases, like bleach. So maybe you can dissolve mobs with it after all... I did not see it like that before. This is interesting.
(Is there any way to change the appearance of mobs while they're dying? They could melt

Liquid Death already basically does this... perhaps a further iteration of it which is throwable like a grenade? Maybe even a combination of it an Alumentum to make said grenade or possibly a tnt style item?

There are mods that cause mobs to splatter redstone particles and body parts when killed, same principle...unless 1.9 killed it.
I'm on the latest 1.7.10 version, and I was wondering, is there any way to change what core a golem has? I accidentally put a fill core into my flesh golem.
Shift-Left click with a golem bell and it'll drop both the golem and it's core. Any upgrades you've given the golem have a chance to be destroyed doing this though.

Can someone please explain to me why this isn't working? how do I connect the two parts? this is for node in a jar
Put a victus next to the top bestia, and a sano next to the victus and ordo, then add a bestia to connect the motus/humanus.

Why should it work? You didn't connect all endpoints.

So Azanor, how will nodes work now with the untyped vis system?
