IME, the big thing you'll be using wholesale is glass. For iron, you'll need one stack for tools and armor, and several more stacks for your Repair enchants, but that's more or less a one-time cost (twice if you do a backup set of tools). Gold gets used in lots (most?) of the magical craftings, but, at some point you'll have a complete lab, IIRC less than a stack for the works.. (Admittedly, I don't know what's involved with the vis network.) But glass... I think I've gone through two or three stacks already, mostly for phials and warded jars, long before jarring my first node -- and that is almost half a stack per node.
And of course, Azanor just removed the crucible recipe for converting cobble/gravel to sand....

I did some CraftTweaker scripts for Mystical Agriculture. They fill in a couple of small gaps in MA, and also let you make or duplicate not only vanilla plants, but the blocks, plants and wood from Quark and Biomes O'Plenty. Also spawn eggs for most vanilla mobs! The scripts are here on Github.

I don't have any desert, but my Taiga biomes have lots of lakes with sandy bottoms, and there are beaches and sandbars further out.

Is this supposed to be a thing? I was near a Spider's Greatwood tree and a Cave Spider jumped out and attacked me. I killed it and it killed me. NONE of my items dropped, bar the Aer ring I had. I went back to get some more string. Put the ring back on. I get killed in the same scenario. Nothing drops. But the ring.
Where does my stuff keep going?

Also if you plan on making Thaumaturge's Robes you'll need alot of string and wool or just anything using the enchanted fabric, you'll want a good stream of that

I do believe this is intention to prevent abuse. Pechs are supposed to be timid rare mobs, that you need to befriend to benefit from, and mob spawner/grinder farms took out the whole mechanic of being a pech's friend. Although they do spawn on cursed earth, and will rip you to shreds when empowered.

How often? My base is set up in a magical forest and I might utilize this
Bug when combined with Bibliocraft (posting there too), golems can't seem to pathfind through a space occupied by a wooden label. I have a 2-wide hallway with chests on both sides, and when I label the chests my sort golem winds up pacing back and forth in the last two blocks before he gets to the labels, unable to reach the further chests.

So last night I was thinking, it would be really nice if I could give Guard Golems Looting enchant. Trying to mass gather spider eyes but guard golems came up very empty handed on that last night.

Mob spawner grinder farms take out the entire mechanic of dealing with mobs, friendly or not. Utilizing them already indicates an unwillingness, on the players part, to interact with mobs directly.
I don't, consequently, utlize such machines myself, but in those packs where they are present, I would be very annoyed if they did exclude "certain" mobs, Pech or otherwise.
Have you tried plant saplings first, then bell them to mark their block and set the golem to "use on empty space"? It worked wonders. (little note, mark them on the top. Marking them on the side made the golem "overshoot" at times, planting the sapling in the spot BEHIND the one marked)
I always tell my use golem to use the empty grass square. They thus plant the first sapling immediately...
I wonder if it makes a difference if the target block is dirt or grass when first right clicked.
Everything is set to fancy/max except for render distance, might be the issue that I was located in the nether at the time that Warp Event popped up, checked my Optifine Settings and I have fog enabled there aswell. I really start thinking it was just because of being in the nether when that event happened.
Now theres another smaller issue/question. Got one of the more heavier effects (Scorch in sunlight) and I definitly got to see those beatifull new shader/overlay... thing is I was in the middle of nowhere and had to dig a hole and wait 2 mins haha. And I have not a single clue how to get those bathing salts to prevent warp temporarly when I am exploring for new nodes, AE2 Meteorites and some easy to grab surface copper. There is no research in my Thaumonomicon hinting at it. So could I get a hind which research I should pay more attention to to get to the bathing salts? Just a little hint nothing else
I'm thinking this might just be a memory allocation problem on my end, but is anyone getting some weird graphical bugs in UI's and during warp effect? I'm posting this here because its the most glaring during warp events sometimes, as instead of applying a filter, it just blackscreens, still can see your hotbar and other HUD items, and for UI's it'll swap to a random texture that it shouldnt be using, IE, one of the panorama panels for the main menu
Ya, you still want to update baubles manually, the auto download for one of the 1.7.2 versions adds the bugged version of baubles that causes the problem

Azanor, could you add a Tiny Blinders upgrade that reduces a golem's sight range? Say, knocks a 16-block radius down to 8? That way you can have, say, a gather golem picking up the fish from a fishing golem without that gatherer's range covering half the yard and grabbing the stuff you put down to scan.

I investigated more into the cause of my crash and pinned it down to Railcraft 9.2.2.0. Upgrading to 9.3.1.0 fixed my issue. In case anyone else has an issue with the Thaumonomicon as is using the correct forge version, make sure you have the newest version of railcraft if you are using it.
