Some of you may like this and some may not, but there is no longer a solid fuel slot in the default gui. In fact, the furnace core on its own can not burn anything. You will now have access to blocks that you will add to the furnace to fuel it. On of them is a solid fuel block, it has an internal storage of a chest and you put your solid fuel into this block and the furnace will use those items as fuel. Along with that, there will also be a liquid fuel box, and there is already support for RF. Future blocks will include EU blocks and Gregtech blocks. There will be many options to fuel your furnace right from the start. You can even set priority on the fuel blocks so some will be used before others. For example, you can make it consume RF but when it runs out switch to solid fuel. I think you'll find it a lot more fun than before.
Now that there are only two slots in the furnace, the I/O port only has two modes. Now, you can toggle import and export from the same port, it will only import things that smelt and will only export from the output slot. This can also be set to automatic so it will pull from other inventories.
All things point to a release soon. We have finished the furnace and the ore processor (now called crusher). Each can use the I/O port and the fuel providers. So far, you can power with liquids (even some modded), Redstone flux, and solid fuels. You can set priority (weight) for each on the dedicated tabs for those providers. To access the GUI of all expansion blocks, shift right click on the block. The machines will go to the provider with the HIGHEST value first. So if you set RF to 10 and the rest to 0, the RF will be used first, then the others.
We have also included NEI and Waila support from launch. Tabs will move the items in NEI and you can see what each machine can process. In the future, you will be able to view the functions related to the block as well as a visual graph to give you an idea.
We are almost ready for a first release. We will be testing it on a private server for a while to see if we can break it and then we will send it out to you all. I hope you're excited to see it. It is pretty cool!
This mod is absolutely fantastic! It works so well for me and I plopped it into my custom modpack (SSP) with over 240 mods and it plays perfectly well! Thank you!
I have a question though, I'm wanting to add custom blocks to the furnace with different values, but I'm not very adept at coding. I'm wanting to add Extra Utilities compressed cobblestone blocks. How would I do this? I'm wanting to add the more compressed versions, like the 5x, 6x and 7x, but ExU doesn't necessarily have a block ID for those. It only has "ExtraUtilities:cobblestone_compressed" but the more compressed versions are in forge ore_dictionary... How would I go about labeling these correctly?
Thanks for any help, and much appreciated for this great furnace!
P.S. Oh, quick question about storage. Is the maximum 440? Modular chests won't connect after this amount. If that's true, can we maybe get an upgraded version of the addition block, so instead of 11, it adds double or triple the amount of storage so we can increase the 440? I ask this because I'd love to replace Applied Energistics for early/midgame
P.S.S. Sorry, one more thing. I am on the current version of 1.7.3 from curse, but when I load my game it says there is an update available within the furnace?

I'll go at these one at a time. First off, version 1.7.3 is no longer supported. That version of the mod has been deleted and is no longer in production. I have started from scratch and completely redone the mod. As of now, the furnace and ore processor have been updated to this new version. We have recently switched our version checker over to this new version as we plan to do a release within the next day or so. That is why you now see there is an update available. That will come soon.
So to directly answer your questions, the config for block values will now be a little different. I'm going to add an in game GUI so you don't have to do anything like that. Expect to be able to do that within the week. I'm glad you put that old version in your pack, but I encourage you to try the new version when it is released.
However, I have not gotten to the storage system in this new version. It is a big project and is next on my list but I want to have the furnace and ore processor done first before moving on. If you wish to change the max size of the storage in the current version, you can increase the max in the config file.
I'll play with this version for now until the new one arrives! Very excited for what you've done and are doing.
Oh, in game GUIs and commands are really great! Many mods are moving towards this and I know from personal use, ProjectE's commands in game work flawlessly, so this comes very welcomed .
I noticed in-game that my modular storage GUI showed that there was a newer version. I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it!
Thank you for all the hard work that you and your team put into making such an enjoyable mod ❤
I'm glad you're excited. I'm sorry to say the storage system won't be available from day one but it is at the top of the list. If you plan to update, please remove all items from your storage as they will be gone
Good news, we are planning a release tonight! This will be the first release of the new version and is likely to have bugs. We have tested it and tried to break it all we can but we are just two people. There are going to be things we missed. If you update and you find issues, please report them on the Github issue tracker.
Aside from that make sure to remove any items inside your storage systems as they will be gone and undo your structures. You can keep the vanilla blocks that you made it out of there, but if you update with a completed furnace/ore processor all those blocks will be gone. You need to remove all blocks from this mod as they will not update. The new version comes with a version checker from day one so when we update you'll see.
I'm excited to show you what I've been working on and I hope you guys enjoy the new version as much as I have been.
One note, not many blocks have values yet. That will be in the next release but we felt that that would take a little while and the rest of the mod is ready so might as well send it out. Along with that, the in game gui is not complete yet. You can edit values from the json files but that is the extent we have completed for now. It will pull from the block material just like before so that should make it useable for a while.
Update is pending approval. Expect it to be out very soon. You will need to download the Bookshelf API as well, you can find a link in the curse project page.

Hey, you guys are working hard, and there are always regular, old chests, so I think I'll manage. All I can say is that the update so far seems to be pretty fantastic, and the new json files are relatively easier to understand
Please read the project page. This mod requires the bookshelf api. It is a separate mod and is linked on the curse page. You can't run this mod without it
Here is a bit of an update to what is going on.

I really like this idea, but Gregtech? That's a really hard mod.
It's not required or anything. We are just sun adding support to it in case you wanted to use his power system. You don't have to
I got this when installing, i have other mods are they interfearing? :

Going to include Modular Systems in Shadows of Twilight. Currently pending public approval by FTB.

Is it possible to place a storage system block next to an I/O port on a furnace, so that you can automatically extract or insert things?

First crash report (I had Fastcraft and Optifine, so I might think it is either of these mods that crashed the game)
Here's the crash report : http://pastebin.com/BhbmKB1W
EDIT: It wasn't Optifine or Fastcraft, it's either the mod itself or my options settings.

I want to echo akira, I'm getting the exact same crash: http://pastebin.com/TvqRsKYG
