Hey, I've been testing this mod today and have had a few issues with it. Overall, it seems harder to brew potions with this mod than vanilla. The main reason for this is continued brewing. If I put in water and brew awkward potions, I can't just throw in the blaze powder to make strength, like I can with the normal vanilla brewing stand. Instead, I need to move the liquid from the right "output" tank back into the left "input" tank first.
So far the only way I've found to do this is by right clicking the brewery to put the potion into bottles. Then right clicking again to put the potion back in. but there is a problem with this. It seems doing so consumes the bottles; so to brew strength 2, I not only need to spend more clicks shuffling around the potions from output to input, but I'll lose 6 bottles in the process. Although, I am thinking this is more of a bug than an intended feature.
While trying to make strength 3, I noticed another problem. I put 3 strength 2 potions into the brewery and tried to brew it with the Pure Tear. But I missed part about it being nether only for higher tier potions; which is fine, what testing is for after all. But then I go to reclaim my strength 2 from the brewery...and I can't... Because the potion is still in the left side, "input", and I can only take potions out of the left, "output". So now the potion is stuck in there and all I can think to do is break it, losing the potion, so I can continue to use the brewery.
Also, I have had no luck trying to automate the brewery at the moment. But this could just be because I don't know about liquid pipes. Still, I have not managed to get liquids to input or output from other containers using buildcraft and other mods. So if I am just being a noob here, some help on what I am doing wrong would be appreciated.
Anyway, I really love this mod in concept, but it feels like it could use a bit more polish still. Aside from fixing the bottle loss issue, I'd suggest buttons below the input tank and output tank to move the liquid to the other, but only if it is empty. That way I can just click on the output tank to put the awkward potion back in the input to continue brewing instead of having to manually fill bottles and readd them. Or move that strength 2 from the input back into the output so I could recollect it.

The Brewery is designed to be automated, it's really not meant to be used manually, and that's really the source of most of your problems. Bottle are considered in the game and by modders to be single use, even for transferring liquids, so I was just sticking with the agreed standard. That does remind me that I've thought about adding support for buckets to move the potions though. But again the other problems are really intended to make automation easier, not meant for manual potion creation.
If you don't know how Buildcraft fluid pipes work, just look up a tutorial online. They're really quite simple, but defiantly not intuitive. On the other hand there are many other mods that add fluid moving mechanisms, like Ender IO, Extra Utilities, Mechanism, even Translocators and Tinker's Construct.
The design of the machines also meets other modding standards, like not being able to get fluid OUT of the INPUT tank. Pipes would get very very confused by that, and it could even make the bottling mechanism weird.
Oh, and for creating a complex potion, the recommended method is to have multiple breweries, one for each step. More expensive of course, but easier to automate with pipes.
Adding normal brewing stand recipes for our unique potions is on "The List Of Things We Want To Do Someday" but both me and Eno are very busy. In fact ......... I don't think I've even spoken to Eno in months.
Thanks for the reply. Good to know it is intended more for automation. Apparently, I was just being really stupid trying to automate it before >.< Tried again using Extra Utilities and got it working just fine. I even managed to work out item input this time. And now that I got it all working, I have to say this mod is amazing.
Also, personally I don’t think it is worth adding potions to the normal brewing stand. I am not sure if it has changed, but from what I've heard in the past it was not very easy to do and usually leads to modders making their own versions of the brewing stand instead. Although NEI support for the Brewery would be nice to see, but not that huge of an issue. Anyway, thanks for the help with the mod.

Forge added a way to add potion recipes to the Brewing Stand a while ago. It can be done.
NEI support is another thing we'd like to do, but again, very busy, not much time.
I setup brewcraft in mod, red gear core too. But in game, I diddn't find insert and output potion space in GUI of brewery. The version is 1.2.3 and red gear core is 2.2.0.
Sorry for asking in this thread. But I realy want to enjoy this mod as fast as I can.

The input and output slots were removed with v1.20; post about it can be found here. To quote the relevant part, since it is a rather lengthy post, "And finally, we've also streamlined the Brewery's user interface. There are no more slots, but now you can right-click the Brewery with a potion to empty it into the Brewery, and right-click it with an empty bottle to fill the bottle!". Although, as mentioned in a few posts above, for best results try using multiple breweries with some form of automation since bottles will be consumed when adding liquids.
Thanks for your fast reply. So, I can just using the brewery with right-click, right? That'll be intuitive but hard to adjust in first time, I think. In the final, you want focusing automatic, right? Anyway, thanks for your answer again.
Well, here's other idea I suggestion in your mod. How about crystallization of potion? It might be useful for people who like put in chest or other backpack with 64 stocks. At least, I'll like it even it will be a quite inconvenient order like de-crystallization.

BioMasterZap is not a developer, just a friendly user. Enosphorous and I are the developers.
In short, yes, the Brewery is designed to automate potion brewing using Buildcraft or other mods.
Crystallization? ...... Oh, like turning the potion into a solid item? Interesting .......... but I'm not sure about what the dynamics of that would be.
Uh,okay... LordBlackHole. Actually, I used this mod until that day after tomorrow, and I felt still uneasy to use brewery.
First of all, I can't use a splash glass bottle. It can't put in brewery or keg with potion, the other side is same. How can I make splash potion?
Secondly, all of glass bottle are disappear when bottle it. If you can, I want remain glass bottle bodily.
Last, I wonder brewery's input and output direction.
Sorry for asking again.
Instead of brewing gunpowder into the potion, you have to craft an empty splash bottle with three glass and one gun powder.
No. Glass bottles are considered single use by Minecraft and by mods. I'm just following the standard convention. Again, this is where automation comes in, use pipes to transfer the fluid potion from the first brewery to a second instead of using bottles.
I may in the future allow you to use buckets instead of bottles to move potion around.
The brewery is not sided. You can move fluid in and out in any direction, with the understanding that you cannot get potion out of the in tank.

Thanks to reply again kindly. If come to mind any idea of this mod, returning to this thread.(should I?)
And now I enjoying this mod with my friend. Hope you enjoy holiday, or X-mas.
Hey, I wanted to ask if there is any mod pack policy for this mod. I haven't seen any mention to it or licenses, but it is possible I missed it somewhere.

It's not listed, but mod packs are totally fine. Have fun.
Thanks for clearing that up. Also, before you said that glass bottles are considered consumable by minecraft and mods. But when I was testing today I noticed that when you drink a vanilla potion, it does leave an empty bottle behind. But when you drink a brewcraft potion it doesn’t. Personally I am more bothered by the lack of consistency between potions then of the bottle loss from brewcraft potions. Anyway, think you would consider a config option to change the bottle behavior with this mod (e.g. toggle consumed or not consumed)?

What? Now THAT is a bug! I'll fix that right away.
Hey there! Really liking the look of this mod, but I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out how to acquire vials and big bottles. Is there a crafting recipe for these at all?

Oh my. I just realized that the download link is pointing to 1.2.2, which is NOT the latest, 1.2.3 is. Since I didn't create the thread I can't fix that. Open the "View all dowloads" button and get the latest, THAT one has recipes.
Hey, I have a few more questions about the mod. First, I did test the potion/bottle thing again today. I found some potions, the boosted vanilla ones I think, do leave a bottle behind. But instead of leaving it in spot where you drank it will stack with others (vanilla always leaves in potion's spot I think). However, I didn't seem to get any bottles back from the new potions (e.g. haste) or any of the larger size ones.
I also wanted to ask about the mob drops. Is there a list of what mod drops which brewing ingredients? And think there could be possibly be toggles for the drops, or even an option to alter the drop rates? Personally, I am finding some of the ingredients rather often, especially from certain mobs, and with other mod added loot it just feels like a bit too much per kill (especially considering how spawners/grinders can work in the pack). I would like to remove the drops and add again at a rarer rate using Mob Properties, but I need to know what drops what first.
And lastly, I wanted to double check with permissions. The other day I was looking over the FTB Mod Pack permission list and it lists Brewcraft as Notify and Red Gear Core as Request. Just wanted to make sure I am understanding the permissions correctly and that I get all the necessary permissions for the mod pack I am working on.
