i wish the stone dust only was spawned depending on material type, seems like literally any block broken spawns some though, pretty much all the machines and cabling i've used lately do, gets a bit messy, also quite silly.
It IS spawned depending on material type. Any block marked with the stone material will cause dust formation. It's just that most modders pick materials that fit their blocks even if the type doesn't make sense. You can disable the dust in the configurations.

what about a check if a block can input or output fluids/rf/items?
if true for any no stone dust is produced, should catch most machines and cables while leaving stone functioning so long as you can detect for those things.

i keep making the same mistake, i think "oh, i've given them a few months, surely it'll be fixed by now" THAT is why i seem to ALWAYS be angry to some of you, my advice is to get the lead out.

Doesn't seem to be an issue with Gases, but with Forge itself. Does reinstalling Forge help?
My first encounter with gases other than coal dust, dust, and smoke, was when a whiff of purple gas came out of the place I just mined. I had the presence of mind to quickly cover the hole, then sat there going "Purple? Purple? Which one was that again?"
As the gas rose through my tiny stairwell, the blocks started to glow slightly, like a light source had started just out of sight.
That's when I had that "Oh crap" moment, and a decision: Do I head down and hide, accepting that my starter home was about to be swimming in lava, or do I risk the climb, not sure how quickly this stuff reacts, and try to kill every torch I placed along the way?
I decided not to give up so quickly, and tiptoed behind the slowly rising gas, grabbing every torch I spotted and hoping nothing spawned in the darkness I was leaving behind me. Eventually the gas got stuck on my roof (sadly, gas can't move through 1/2-slab holes, which would've been cool, as I left that for being able to see daylight), and I broke a couple blocks and let it slowly dissipate into the sky.
Then a breath of relaxed tension. Because that totally felt like disarming an unexpected bomb.
Kudos for making the kind of mod that can elicit a physiological response like that. Made my dig much more interesting. And now I'm debating how best to potentially make use of this gas, perhaps getting lava right where I want it... but only if I can control where it goes and how much light it gets along the way.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My YouTube channel is currently on hiatus, but I hope to get back to it at some point. Content is fairly random, but can be enjoyable, and is mostly game footage (mostly random Minecraft clips) from my nephews and me. Most popular MC vid so far is the one Vechs laughed at on Twitter!
I think a new gas that is like hydrogen sulfide( very poisonous, very flammable) would be cool for this mod.
wouldn't that essentially be a second of natural gas? it's both of those.

No, in real life is is very different. Its is more dense than air, EXTREMELY poisonous, highly explosive, and when burned releases corrosive sulfur dioxide gas. It's the gas that's it responsible for the smell of rotten eggs.
I would like to know what that mystery block is. I'm guessing it's ash, and if it is, I'll have to choose between biomes o plenty and this mod (biomes o plenty has ash blocks). Is it?

I was exploring caves with this mod, and I found exposed diablime, which indicates a gas pocket. However, there was also this ash stuff as well, so it naturally generates.

well im using forge 143x now, and all the mods i need are updated for new forge fluid crap.
GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG!!!!!!!!!
why didnt i find out about gt5.08 unofficial before now omg so much win!!! thanks a bunch guy.
just fyi, glenns gasses is breaking my modset with forge 14xx too, same thing, infinite worldgen, dunno whats going on, and really i cant be bothered to test 250mods one at a time to isolate the problem. meh, i dont care that much. sucks though cause this mod is great and i'd really like to have it in my public pack, but i have enough problems tracking through the current mods for inter mod incompatibility atm.
for instance. extra utilities golden bag of holding in hotbar, plus invtweaks, open bag of holding and hold spacebar, then click on item in hotbar (space + click dumps everything into opened inventory) and the client insta hangs. it does not crash, it simply freezes, and upon opening the task manager i see that my client has a memory leak, as java goes from a comfortable ~4-5GB ram to 12-13GB ram and maxes out my 8core 4.8Ghz cpu to 100%.
ive posted bug reports about it and both authors say its not thier fault and they cant do anything unless i post a bug report. im liek whaaaaa? it doesnt generate a bug report! but they dont care. shoddy programming imho. a simple check to make sure division by 0 doesnt happen would fix the issue.

I'd just like to let you know that you just hit the exact reason why this mod was originally made. This reaction. Also, Iocalfaeus isn't poisonous to the player, so that may make you feel a bit silly.

I believe that both red gas and corrosive gas fulfill this role, albeit in a different way.
I would like to know what that mystery block is. I'm guessing it's ash, and if it is, I'll have to choose between biomes o plenty and this mod (biomes o plenty has ash blocks). Is it?
I know about the issue with Glenn's Gases so far, and so far Glenn has been too busy with work to take more than a cursory look at it. We have a solution sitting around, but the issue with it is that we can't get it to happen in a decompiled enviroment with just GG and GF installed. Try not to get frustrated, modding's hard work and from the developer's perspective we can't do sh*t without a log telling us what happened. Sorry! If it helps, here is a link to our outstanding issue on it.
Just a heads up to any modpackers, we're planning on an update sometime soon to include all the changes/additions we've done, so beware making it right now! This is also a major API rework, so heads up on that front too.
hope it's not too out of line to suggest looking into mod interactions with (guessing here) thermal expansion ducts/energy cells, from what i understand they do a sort of psuedo block-placing thing to check for connections next to the visible block/item, i noticed recently that if you have a time torch running near these blocks you'll generate copious amounts of stone dust due to the accelerated tickrate, while at the normal time dilation (none) it dissipates at a rate equal to the generation.

Seriously, Glenn's Gases, Buildcraft, and Galacticraft, maybe in that order, are my must have mods. You're holding me back from 1.8, really, but it's all worth it in the end.
I don't know if it's just me but, Is lung damage a thing?
Reasonz: i have alot of other mods installed with some friends and idk but i take random damage and i was just wondering because i basically bathe in the gasses sometimes...

Gases will not cause permanent damage, no. If you stay in them you can take damage, but not outside.
When this happens, just reload the world and it should fix itself. It should be less intense when most of the world i generated.

Doesn't seem to be an issue with Gases, but with Forge itself. Does reinstalling Forge help?
I do my work at Bitbucket, supporting Glenn's Gases when I'm not on Steam. You can email me at "[email protected]"
Nope. I tried re-installing forge and updating forge. It didnt help
I think a new gas that is like hydrogen sulfide( very poisonous, very flammable) would be cool for this mod.
My YouTube channel is currently on hiatus, but I hope to get back to it at some point. Content is fairly random, but can be enjoyable, and is mostly game footage (mostly random Minecraft clips) from my nephews and me. Most popular MC vid so far is the one Vechs laughed at on Twitter!
wouldn't that essentially be a second of natural gas? it's both of those.
24 hours gone again, wasted in futility, welcome to minecraft modding, that is (unfortunately) our community.

i keep making the same mistake, i think "oh, i've given them a few months, surely it'll be fixed by now" THAT is why i seem to ALWAYS be angry to some of you, my advice is to get the lead out.
there were nice things here, until the mod author threw a tantrum.
GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG!!!!!!!!!
why didnt i find out about gt5.08 unofficial before now omg so much win!!! thanks a bunch guy.
just fyi, glenns gasses is breaking my modset with forge 14xx too, same thing, infinite worldgen, dunno whats going on, and really i cant be bothered to test 250mods one at a time to isolate the problem. meh, i dont care that much. sucks though cause this mod is great and i'd really like to have it in my public pack, but i have enough problems tracking through the current mods for inter mod incompatibility atm.
for instance. extra utilities golden bag of holding in hotbar, plus invtweaks, open bag of holding and hold spacebar, then click on item in hotbar (space + click dumps everything into opened inventory) and the client insta hangs. it does not crash, it simply freezes, and upon opening the task manager i see that my client has a memory leak, as java goes from a comfortable ~4-5GB ram to 12-13GB ram and maxes out my 8core 4.8Ghz cpu to 100%.
ive posted bug reports about it and both authors say its not thier fault and they cant do anything unless i post a bug report. im liek whaaaaa? it doesnt generate a bug report! but they dont care. shoddy programming imho. a simple check to make sure division by 0 doesnt happen would fix the issue.
but i digress.
I'd just like to let you know that you just hit the exact reason why this mod was originally made. This reaction. Also, Iocalfaeus isn't poisonous to the player, so that may make you feel a bit silly.
I believe that both red gas and corrosive gas fulfill this role, albeit in a different way.

However, that block will not cause any incompatibility between mods.

No, like I don't want duplicate blocks.
The blocks doesn't have any use, so you can just chuck them out.

To Glenn's Gases, one of my essential mods.
