I made certain there were no spawners up in that area (knocked them down myself) and the version of JAS I'm running is 0.14.12. Having the vanilla spawning on or off does not impact the amount of blazes and skeletons. What might help is if I could use the listspawns command on the structure but I unfortunately do not know its file name. I assume it would be something like minecraft.structures.netherfortress but I have had no luck in locating its exact name. Do you know of anything that would directly impact structure spawning in such a manner?
I apologize that I did not say what version I'm running this all on - its 1.7.10 with Forge 1217.

Alright, I can't seem to get JAS to work on my server, for whatever reason. This is actually the first time I've had this happen. It crashes after everything is generated and the server is ready to go, but immediately before the server actually starts up (Ie: "Fatal errors were detected during the transition from SERVER_ABOUT_TO_START to SERVER_STARTING. Loading cannot continue").
I'm getting the following information from the "fml-server-latest.log" file, since it does not actually give me a crash report for this:
If I'm simply being stupid and missing something in the configuration file, could someone please point it out to me? And if additional information is required to figure out what might be going on, I can attempt to supply that as well.
Edited in: Forge is .1208, Minecraft is 1.7.10 and JAS -does- work in SSP. Just not on the server.

Are you running ArsMagica2? I'm just guessing here but someone else had the same issue here and Crudedragos replied here. I would try removing the Ender Guardian and Lightning Guardian from the JAS LivingGroups.cfg if they're there (if indeed it is those entites that are causing your issue. It looks particle related to me). You might also want to ask Mithion if none of those things help

Aha. This may very well be the case. I am indeed running AM2, but I guess I skimmed right over that response, my bad. >.< I'll give this a shot tomorrow, as I'm off to bed for now. I appreciate the response Dulciphi, thank you.

OMG, I posted that bug report originally, but I totally missed your response! Unfortunately, the crash happens JUST AS JAS is accessing the problem entity to generate the default LivingHandler.cfg entries. That's my interpretation, anyway based on what's going on just before the crash. In any case, you can't turn off those mobs in LivingHandler.cfg, because they don't exist yet! I though about to fabricate them manually, but I need the offending mobs' classnames, which JAS isn't exposing when it crashes, even with "debug" enabled. I'll tinker with it later when I get home.

Found out a few more things. Having the logging on I noticed JAS reported nothing for the mobs being spawned on the fortress. Also when I set Empty Vanilla SpawnLists = false, the fortress will spawn the normal amount of mobs. Doing this has the undesired effect then of bringing all the mobs I placed on do not spawn from MoCreatures (such as the ant and maggot) to spawn in the overworld. As much as I can figure out JAS is completely thrown by structures because much the same happens with the Twilight Forest structures - even when I use the compatibility addon. During these past few tests I have had "Disable Vanilla Chunk Spawning": true.

I am trying to get Mo' Creatures mobs to spawn in highlands biomes. I am using both the 1.6.4 version of Mo' Creatures and JAS. When going to setup the JAS config files, I see that most of it has been automatically done (not sure if this is intended or not). Anyways, no Mo'Creatures mobs spawn in the Highlands or vanilla biomes. Some help would be greatly appreciated .
Go back a page. I made a set of configs for JAS and it mostly focuses on Mo Creatures. It was done for 1.7.10, but they might work for you. Just replace your JustAnotherSpawner folder with mine in the config folder.
Some one has a config that spawns a lot of mobs to mo creatures? i want my world to be filled of mobs and i cant seem to do it

@Corvias
You seem to be proficient with JAS (or at least better than most) would you mind creating a config with MoC, Primitive Mobs, and Lycanite Mobs?
Currently it just does MoC, BoP, TF, Thaumacraft and the mobs from a few other random things. Eventually I'll do more, but it takes A LONG time to do a good config. (I do actually want to PLAY minecraft at some point! ) This one isn't even quite where I want it yet. For example, the balance between Vanilla and MoC isn't quite right yet (there's some biomes where you almost never see vanilla hostiles). Once I'm happy with MoC, I'll add another large mob-focused mod.

There's advantages to setting it to true - especially with structure spawns. Just remember to switch it back if you intend on removing JAS, otherwise nothing will spawn in your game at all. I think that's why it's set to false by default.
I try using your custom configs but mobs arent still spawning, I only see water mobs.
EDIT- You're not using the recent Forge version 1224 or later, are you? If so, try rolling your Forge version back and see if that helps.
That's strange. I can't think what would cause that. I've only ever had it happen the other way around - having too many mobs spawning - and that's caused by forgetting to edit the mob mod's configs (for example, Lycanites will still spawn unless you go into the lycanites config folder, open lycanitesmobs-spawning.cfg and set
"global spawning" {
# If true, all mobs from this mod will not spawn at all.
B:"Disable Spawning"=true
and there's similar steps to take for MoCreatures and any other mod that adds its own spawner.)
..but having no other mobs spawning..? You're sure you've given them time to spawn, right? I use a minimap mod to show up entities. I hop into creative mode, fly around slowly for a little while (keeping fairly close to the ground) and then do a /jas killall. Then I change the time to night and repeat the steps.
If you're just seeing too few entities, you could try increasing the spawn caps in CreatureType.cfg. Ie. if you want more monsters, set the spawn cap to 100. If you want more creatures, increase the CREATURE spawn cap, etc.
If you're not getting any of those entity types at all, though, ...um. Anyone else getting this same problem?

How long did you walk around in a world for? Try running "/jas killall" from the chat and THEN walk around for a while. Also, don't download the configs from this thread. There's a newer version here.
Crudedragos, can I please draw your attention to this?
It seems that nothing will spawn at all in Highlands biomes when using a combination of JAS, Highlands and ClimateControl. The combination of Highlands and ClimateControl alone works for spawning. The combination of JAS and Highlands works for spawning. The problem seems to be with all 3 at once and I have no idea where the issue is or how it could be addressed. I know you're busy but I thought I'd mention it in case there's something we can do about it.
EDIT- apologies. That was my derp. I'd made my configs with Highlands biomes prefixed - then I'd set up a new instance, reinstalled Highlands and forgot to change the Highlands General.cfg setting
# use a prefix of "Highlands_" + biome name for all biomes?
B:"Biome Prefix"=true
For anyone who's using my configs AND Highlands, change the above setting or you will have no spawns in Highlands biomes. Apologies for forgetting to point that out. The Readme file inside the configs has been updated accordingly.
