#3 the stargate controller should have one speed dial slot <see attached picture 1> clicking on the white box allows the player to type in an address there. this address can be activated via the second orange button in the gui or redstone signal.
I'm not entirely sure how do you mean this, but if you are looking for the possibility to dial without needing clicking the symbols using your mouse, then you can just type the adress on your keyboard and hit enter to start dialing...

If you create your own DHD, with ComputerCraft or OpenComputers, you can do everything you want.
Default DHD is made to be simple and in the serie there is no easy way to redial an address. But... a function in the computer API could retreve the last adresse called. ^^

This is also consistent with the series. I was thinking about how cool this would be, but ExDomino is absolutely correct. All of these functions were used in the series, but it was another interfacing device. Even if that device was of non-earth(or Ancient I suppose) origin.

It could exists a function in the API to allow a computer to know the last address composed, but the DHD should not know it, since in the serie the characters have to dismantle the DHD and plug their computers to see the last addresses composed. But I think Greg is dead.

#1 I've never used ComputerCraft an have never even heard of OpenComputers so a question: DHD?
#2 my knowledge regarding API is entirely limited to the definition of.
#3 I haven't watched sg1 or stargate atlantis (liked the latter more) in a log time so I'm sorry if any of my
info is wrong. I did watch the movie recently which is what made me wonder if there where any stargate
mods in the first place. so now I'm here.
#4 its not MY place to decide but in I think it doesn't need to be completely accurate.

#1 A DHD is the device used to dial the stargate - it stands for Dial Home Device. SGCraft includes a basic DHD (much like those in the series) that allows you to dial and end calls. Using ComputerCraft or OpenComputers, a DHD program can be written to provide features beyond just dialing (such as address book management, iris control, call logging, etc.).
#2 Don't worry about it - what ExDomino was suggesting was the ability of computers, but not the standard DHD, to see the last address dialed (similar to how it was portrayed in the series - basically the characters didn't know how to retrieve the last dailed address from a DHD so they used computers to retrieve that info.)
If you're interested in trying a computer controlled dialer for SGCraft, the only two I'm aware of are both ComputerCraft programs: thatParadox's SGCraft dialer and my own ccDHD program. You can find find the link to ccDHD in my signature and thatParadox's dialer can be found here:
#1 again I don't remember much about sg, but isn't one of the things about how it works that you have to send something through the thing in order for the portal stay open? if so maybe a config option for that. --think I'll check if the library has any of the SG1/SG Atlantis series and look up some stuff on wikis. (if I'm going to be posting comments here I want to make sure I'm right 100% of the time. intolerable when someone corrects me)
#2 I went into the config file and changed the explosion radius when the stargate is broken while active to 5000. that's probably not going to crash the game right. XD --At DOOMs Gate...
#3 something fun I found is that if I run a minecart rail into the stargate and send it though with a mob riding it --mainecart had a halocraft elite in it. when the minecart exits the other stargate the elite was still there --sort of expected it to despawn. but it works properly. which is why I thought it would be a good idea to have a speed dial slot that is activated via sending a redstone signal into the sg controller.

It sure would be nice if we had some grenades don't you think?
It's been about 5 months now since I last asked...
I'm still eagerly waiting for an update for 1.8. Last time I asked, you mentioned that you wanted to finish updating a different mod first, and that this one would likely be next. I saw that you did indeed put out a new 1.8 mod a month ago or so.
So I'm once again asking, is a 1.8 update for this mod still in the cards, or is this mod now officially dead? I know 1.9 is right around the corner, but I'm still hoping for a 1.8 version.
Could you add things like; Multiple Gates(the Tollan Gate, Orilin Gate, Pegasus Gate, The Universe Gate), Pegasus iris(shield), ZPMs, ZPM Hubs, Naquadah Generators, Atlantis DHDs (console and gate).
Maybe some weapons like; The Zat'nik'tel, Staff Weapon (Jaffa and/or Ori), a Drone Launcher, Asgard Beam, Tollan Defense Weapon.
Some NPCs such as; The Nox, Goa'uld, Jaffa, Wraith, Ori, Ancients, Asgard, Tollans, Soldiers (Human), Replicators (Human Form).
Some Planets and Galaxies and things like Icarus and Dakara and things like that.
Some Vehicles like; Puddle Jumpers, Wraith Darts, Goa'uld Cargo Ships, Goa'uld Mother Ships, F-302s, The Prometheus, The Daedalus, Asgard Ships.
Just a thought, let me know what you think
And power cables. ZPMs and Naquadah Generators are useless if the electricity can't be sent anywhere.
and again I will say that a vanilla recipe for the SG RF power accepter is a MUST.

How about simple dimensions, by randomly dialing a gate. Normal generation, but random biomes and biome colors. Maybe desert and ice plains common, and more useful biomes less common. Maybe random potion effects. Would be good for exploring and ship survival maps. (destiny).

Not dead, just distracted. I'll be back.
I thought he died by the iris of one of his stargate. XD

#1 I checked out those DHDs: they're ok... but on the other hand I'm never happy with anything.
thatParadox's DHD gets a 6/10 (does not work properly in the end or the nether.) a problem
with computercraft? plus A LOT of insignificant details that bother me. (OCD)
#2 trying to write my own DHD ("I'm never happy with anything") so I started leaning lua. trying
to get the stargate to close the iris if its open and open it if its closed. the only thing it does is try
to open the iris. what am I doing wrong?
sg = peripheral.find("stargate")
if sg.closeIris then
sg.openIris()
print("Opening Iris")
else
sg.closeIris()
print("Closing Iris")
end
#3 and I just want to point out that nothing in computercraft needs power to work and that's really weird. convenient but weird.
It sure would be nice if we had some grenades don't you think?
To test whether the iris is open, you need to call irisState():
now all it does is try to close the iris.
sg = peripheral.find("stargate")
if sg.irisState() == "closed" then
sg.openIris()
term.clear()
term.setCursorPos(1, 1)
print("Opening Iris.")
else
sg.closeIris()
term.clear()
term.setCursorPos(1, 1)
print("Closing Iris.")
end
It sure would be nice if we had some grenades don't you think?
if sg.irisState() == "closed" then
should be
if sg.irisState() == "Closed" then
note the capitalization

Hey Greg, are you planning on adding on weapons like the Jaffa Staffs and the Zat'nik'tel? or vehicles like the Puddle Jumper?

Would it be possible to Mirror this to Curse to make installing it in Curse packs easier?
How about dimensions.
