Thank you for your advice. I've already water-cooled the cpu with an H60, but no room for a water block on the gpu. I prefer reducing the performance of the program, if at all possible. I'm only running at 16 for the render distance, but I'll try and drop it to 12 or even 8 and see what happens. Any other things you suggest? What about with the Nvidia control panel settings? Not sure, but I read somewhere about turning off the multi thread optimization and adding the javaw.exe to the list of programs in the control panel. I'd rather talk about here with other shader users. Most of what I've read is on various other forums. I've found many people who comment don't even know the difference between Vanilla and Shader Modded Minecraft.
Np, welcome.
I've messed around with a LOT of these little tips for improving performance over the years, and even the best of them have little effect unfortunately. Collectively they might add up, but there's nothing that makes a huge difference unless you've got something really wrong (like 32-bit Java installs).
Overclocking is an option, but that's just gonna heat up your GPU even worse!
Chunk distance 16 is actually pretty high for shaders, but it really depends on the complexity of the scenery. Even using a non-HD texture pack (SD?) doesn't drop GPU utilization by much. It's mostly a matter of tweaking each option as low as you're willing to sacrifice the effects/details. Don't forget that individual shader packs have options too, some of those can really save/cost performance too.
I used to have an AMD card which ran pretty damn hot, the worst part was the fan speed ramping up randomly was very distracting. So while gaming I would just set it manually to a high fan speed so I could eventually just "tune it out". Loud, but consistent!

Is there anyway to reset the config or something? Initially, whatever shader pack I used, if it supported shadows, it'd work fine. Now, (i.e. 2 hrs later) I might have done something which now caused shadows to not work.
EDIT: Nevermind, there was a mod which for some reason uses its own shader, and it was conflicting with this one.
Hi there. Running into a problem that I cannot seem to solve.
GPU: GeForce GTX 970
CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 @3.5GHz
Memory: 24GB RAM
Res: 2560x1440, 59Hz
Driver ver.: 365.19
OS: Win10 Home
FTB: Direwolf20 1.10
Minecraft: 1.7.10
Resouce Pack: Chroma Hills
Shaders: SEUS 10.1 (I've tried them all, but was using Standard up until today)
There was an update for this GPU yesterday. When I updated, every time I load up the game, it goes to a gray screen. I can interact with my world, and if I move quickly enough, I see some dragging with visual artifacts present before the image stabilizes. I've tried all the different SEUS shaders, with the same result. I have reinstalled Java (64-bit), ShadersMod, Optifine, and SEUS, with no visible impact. Upon research, I came across a variety of fixes, none of which worked.
Adjust a .vsh file in the shaders' folder to float timePow=3.0f
- float timePow is already set to 3.2f
Set nVidia to prefer high-performance GPU over onboard.
- no longer an option in the control panel
Force the GPU to specifically handle Java
- no visible change
Reinstall driver
- no visible change
In the end, I rolled the driver back. All of the tutorials, options, blogs, and articles that I have come across seem to be rather outdated. One note is that I had originally removed Optifine as it seemed to be the one responsible for these momentary visual glitches, where certain parts of the terrain turned invisible briefly, before restoring. But it happens quite frequently. Since Optifine didn't seem to solve anything, I removed it as the last step after rolling back the driver (to confirm that the glitch was still happening on another shader version).
Running SEUS Shaders Ultra 10.1 Motion Blur, Chroma Hills, and Fanver Modded Universal, I can get ~27fps without Optifine. It's generally okay, with no issues that I can tell. At least, until the driver update.
So in short, it seems pretty clear that the driver is at fault. I'm just not sure how to go about addressing the issue and staying up-to-date on the video driver. Anyone have an idea I haven't tried?
Hello, I've encountered this graphical glitch adding Shaders Mod Core on Terrafirmacraft.
Grafic card and drivers info aren't really needed since I've tryed this on 2 differents computers with respectively Nvidia and AMD dedicated gpu so the problem seems to be related with shaders mod (or TFC eventually).
I'm using latest version of forge 1.7.10 with latest version of Shaders Mod Core and Terrafirmacraft with java 32 + 64 bit update 92.
As you see the problem is a visual glitch of the thermal vapor that comes out from spa.
Yes its work now but with a small issue (screenshot in attachement)...
Saw this before, I don't think it's because of the edit I posted above. But can't remember what caused it (I think it had something todo with AA?). Doesn't happen here.

Hello! Can I edit the 1.9.4 optifine jar to disable all of optifines code and only use shadermod soley alone by itself?
Optifine gives me graphical glitches across all release versions of MC above 1.6.4
so I can only use shader mod alone
Can I create a new jar with shader mod into it. or strip the optifine jar down to only shader mod?
or am i just going to be ignored and told to deal with no shaders or optifine (shaders work fine by themselves with no optifine)

Are you sure Optifine is the problem? What is your graphics driver version and what are the glitches you speak of? Maybe Optifine isn't the problem.

Hi guys, i have a question.. you know which texturepack is used in this shader mod page?

Hello,
I just wanted to test some 1.8 shaders on 1.7 and I were wondering if we could tweak the shaders option in 1.7.

Don't update. Driver updates are actually worse than useless..

Should work then.

The OP said Optifine 1.9 includes Shaders features, but I'm using OF 1.9 and it does not have the shaders menu to select the shaders I want...
EDIT: Just found it! Sorry

What version are you using?
Do you get that water glitch with 10.2?
Edit: So I did remember/find the info. SEUS 10.2 does fix the water bug for particular cards, the Nvidia Maxwells.

I get this once I load into the game, I have no idea what to do to fix this. Version 1.8 Followed steps correctly.
This is what I get:http://imgur.com/rOHktzL
I get this too...
Tried doing what Sildur said, but couldn't seem to find that in any of the composite.fsh files (0, 1, 2)
