When 1.8 comes out in a about a day, could you please update it as fast as you could, I wouldn't be able to play really because Minecraft lags real bad. I would get like 10 fps if I'm lucking. Also, this mod is GREAT. I would donate but don't have credit/debit card or anything like that.
sp614x always tries his best for same-week updates, but Mojang has changed the whole rendering engine, so don't hold your breath. On the upside though, 1.8 has some new techniques that should boost your FPS a lot. Try out 1.8 and compare it to 1.7.
I figured out why optifine crashes its because of Tinkers Construct and the mantle mod so is their a way to make this cooperate better with the Tinkers Construct mod .I'm getting awfully tired of the random crashing with Optifine and the mantle (or coremod) mod

I am a 1.8 Minecraft enthusiast. If i give any ideas to you for your mod that you like or even if I just came to say I like this mod, that basically means I would like this mod for 1.8.
I have ASD. I will most likely speak in a way that could offend people, that's the way I've always been (socially awkward), however, I do not mean to be offensive to anyone. Tactfulness has never been one of my strong suits. So, if your going to hate me...then don't bother talking to me as you will just waste my time and yours as well.
Despite what you're thinking the age in my profile is the actual true age. I find it amazing how many people think that ten is my actual age.

mDiyo has stated many times that Optifine is not a supported mod for TiC, the reason being is cause Optifine is closed source, not open source, thus my question above... mDiyo would make it compatible but just simply can't and it's up to sp614x to make Optifine compatible to everyone else's stuff...

I think it's a rumor, but elsewhere people are saying OptiFine is "shutting down" and won't be updated for 1.8, because of the changes they made. Any truth to this?
OptiFine will be updated to 1.8 as usual, after MCP releases a 1.8 compatible version.
The changes in 1.8 are quite drastic so it will probably take some time.
is this Optifine something that is within the minecraft game? Ive never heard such a thing lol but its major laggy and I can move around without feeling like a robot. kind of sucks because I enjoy building everyday

No, Optifine is a modification (aka, mod) that you put on/in Minecraft. It's purpose is to make the game playable by more users who might not be able to run the game properly.
If you can't play without Optifine, then you can either just continue playing on older versions where Optifine is available, or wait for Optifine to update to the newest version of the game.

thanks but i guess after a few hours it fixed up and I can play easily now lol. But it kinda sucks as everyone is enjoying 1.8 now and the server im part of they all vanished lol guess they are enjoying 1.8 now in which the server was made on 1.7.10 hopefully they update it soon.

Well, I see Mojang must have loved a page in Optifine's book, they support view distances of 32 in the new 1.8 apparently. Whats the plan for Optifine regarding the view distance expansion? I know it sounds ridiculous, but I think you understand what I mean.
Gotta love Optifine's improvements tho, really do help the game quite a bit.
and why on earth is minecraft even more cpu dependant now.. 10-15% gpu load and 50-80% cpu load
(gtx 670 & i5 3570k)
It's not something bad by itself; it's just the result of the implementation of threaded chunk rendering. That means Minecraft will use more CPU if available to make the game "faster". It now loads chunks way faster if you have a multi-core CPU, but that's the only improvement I see (performance-wise) in 1.8.

...
As usually the plan for OptiFine is to make the game playable on view distance 32 for computers which struggle with 16 on vanilla.
I have no lag anymore. Admittedly, I play with a 6 chunk render distance, but I used to get some lag at 4 chunks even with Optifine. So a stable 60FPS is a nice improvement, and I can only imagine how fast it'll be once Optifine comes out for 1.8. Maybe I can finally play 8 chunks with a stable 60FPS.
JoshuaCrotts, do you have VBO's turned on or off? Because it defaults to off, but turning it on is what removed the lag for me.
I play on a really good computer and I usually get 120+ fps on max settings in 1.7.10 now I barely get 60 fps on the same settings in SINGLE PLAYER for 1.8 :/

I posted about this before but I don't think I got a reply; do you have any idea what could be causing this issue I have in any 1.7 (and 1.8) version?
A close look suggests that the spikes occur every 10 frames, and are independent of any settings (2 chunks acts the same as 16 chunks, fast, fancy, different JVM arguments, graphics card settings, etc), including the FPS limit as seen in the second screenshot (i.e. has no relation to time, only the number of rendered frames). I've heard of the "lag spike of death" but this is definitely an entirely different issue (LSOD caused by autosaving and every 2 seconds, so would get more frequent as FPS decreases). Note that, most evident in the second screenshot, there is also a lower amplitude "wave" pattern in rendering time which coincides with the spikes, until I lower the FPS limit, which also clearly shows up when watching the lagometer (speeds up, slows down, pauses, repeats).
One thing does fix it - sometimes; if I pause the game and leave it running while I do something else it can go away and not come back, but it is very unreliable.
I've even tried making the game use LWJGL version 2.9.0 by editing the json file (renamed so the launcher doesn't overwrite it) but it still used 2.9.1 (I've heard that some versions, at least some older ones, can cause issues on some computers which is why I did this and that was one thing that changed from 1.6). No luck in finding anybody else with this issue either; here are my system specs:
32 bit Windows 7 Ultimate
3 GB RAM (1.5-2 GB used after playing for a few hours, so plenty of memory though disk swapping would cause very different symptoms)
2.2 GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 (dual core)
Nvidia GeForce 7600 (tried changing things like performance, threaded optimization, triple buffering, prerendered frames, etc; some with a general effect on performance but not stopping the lag spikes)
Java 7 update 67 (latest recommended version from Java.com, no other versions found; not that Java updates have had any effect)
JVM arguments: -Xms512M -Xmx512M -Xincgc -Xss1024K (the last to prevent stack overflow issues (MC-32168) which appears to be due to 32 bit Java not allocating enough stack space; I've also tried much fancier arguments, including the new default ones presumably optimized for the game, with no effect)

For Athlon X2 you should try the AMD Dualcore Optimizer which fixes a problem very similar to this one.
It looks like this problem is outside of Minecraft and probably caused by external programs. You can try the Process Explorer and see which process is using CPU when Minecraft is running. Usually Java has to be at 50% (one core) and all the other processes around 0%. You can also try killing the other processes one by one and see if it gets better. Disabling the antivirus and stopping all background programs may also help to find it.

OptiFine will be updated to 1.8 as usual, after MCP releases a 1.8 compatible version.
The changes in 1.8 are quite drastic so it will probably take some time.
Too many laggs (on servers) and dont have "zoom" .
Water isnt clear, and i cant find a new dungeon.
Wait for update!
Need a friend to play Minecraft with? Click me! Lots of players are looking for someone to play with as well!
Need a way to make survival more fun? Click me!
Don't know what to build? Here is a "What should I build?" generator!
are the changes as bad as 1.7? Or worse?
Gotta love Optifine's improvements tho, really do help the game quite a bit.
It's not something bad by itself; it's just the result of the implementation of threaded chunk rendering. That means Minecraft will use more CPU if available to make the game "faster". It now loads chunks way faster if you have a multi-core CPU, but that's the only improvement I see (performance-wise) in 1.8.
LOL
As usually the plan for OptiFine is to make the game playable on view distance 32 for computers which struggle with 16 on vanilla.
JoshuaCrotts, do you have VBO's turned on or off? Because it defaults to off, but turning it on is what removed the lag for me.
TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
For Athlon X2 you should try the AMD Dualcore Optimizer which fixes a problem very similar to this one.
It looks like this problem is outside of Minecraft and probably caused by external programs. You can try the Process Explorer and see which process is using CPU when Minecraft is running. Usually Java has to be at 50% (one core) and all the other processes around 0%. You can also try killing the other processes one by one and see if it gets better. Disabling the antivirus and stopping all background programs may also help to find it.
