Hello all! And welcome to the forums post for the Minecraft: Epic Weapons Project! This is a little project I started late last year and have been working on it ever since! The role of this project is to create some overpowered weapons, put them on some classes and balance them out according to gameplay, and place players inside arenas with all kinds of areas to encounter fights in!
Currently there are three classes, however when I push this map there will be at least EIGHT available classes to play. Some classes will have melee weapons, other classes will have ranged weapons, and some could even have both! Some will have powerful bombs that do vast amounts of damage and others will have bombs that explode instantly and give other effects! Additionally, you'll have limited amounts of bombs and arrows for ranged weapons, but they will regenerate. Bombs regenerate very slowly while arrows regenerate quickly so you can quickly get back to the fight!
Every arena will have closed in areas like complexes for intense close quarters fights, and there will be wide open areas with lots of area to traverse for heated open area fights! Each arena will also have its flanks for getting easy kills on unsuspecting victims. And every arena is built specifically for a Free-For-All environment to make sure each match is just as intense and fun as the last!
And best of all, you can have as many players as you want in the game with you! The more friends you have to play with you the more intense and fun each match will get!
Currently I've got a lot to do. But, most of it is just copy paste work from previously used code from an old version of this map for many of the weapons. A lot of it isn't very new code, believe it or not.
To-Do list:
Remake the remaining two arenas to fit arena quota.
Create at least six BALANCED classes to put into the beta-release of this map. -DONE-
Have at least four playable arenas that fit arena quota to put into the beta-release of this map.
Create at least eight BALANCED classes to put into the stable full release of this map.
Have at least six playable arenas that fit arena quota to put into the stable full release of this map.
Finish the spawn platform.
Optimize some of the code.
Get some screenshots for this page.
*Maybe* make a video showcase/trailer for the map
Yeah, I've got a lot to do...
History of the map:
This started out as something that I planned to be implemented into a singleplayer world, but the contraption got to big, and I didn't feel like copy pasting all the commands into a one command combiner. At first the map didn't even have arenas, we battled on the command platform. At first it had a Bazooka, Fireworks Bow, Bombs, Squid Bombs, Unstoppable Chestplate, Jumpy Long Leggings and finally Heavy Iron Boots. In the end, though, there was one combination of items that was to overpowered and it kind of annoyed me. The arrows didn't even explode when they hit a player! So, then I replaced the separate armors with one chestplate and these things called 'Powers' that emulated the functions of the previous armors. But the same results came of it. And once I got around to making some arenas they ended up being very upward. If you were at the top you would dominate everyone.
Eventually my friend suggested I put it up on the Minecraft Forum. I didn't want to put it up in that state, so we came up with the idea of creating separate classes that have different combat situations they are dominant in. Unfortunately though, this made the previous arenas out of date and unusable, literally!
I decided to recycle everything I used in the previous version and put them on the various classes. So far, I've got a lot to do. But, that is the history of the Epic Weapons project.
I will be releasing a beta version of this map when I can! I want to get some people's opinions before I finish the map completely and put the stable version up for everyone. Whoever is going to download the beta release, be sure you've got some friends!
