Oooooookay so I was going to be all like: "Hey I'm going to bring Link of Faith up to the current Minecraft version!"
And: "Hey I'm going to fix all of the glitchy redstone by using command blocks!"
Plus: "Remember those occasionally-glitchy key and door systems? Time to upgrade!"
But then I broke the top post on this thread. I still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong with the BBCode, maybe I have too many images? Hm. Either way, the top post is going to get an overhaul along with the actual update to the map. I can't promise it'll be fast, but I wanted to at least drop a line here that it's gonna happen. For now, download links have been removed. They'll be back when we're updated.

Time to make this happen.
Well, this'll certainly be interesting. Don't forget the spawn chunks! Lots of people do, and it's always a shame.

This strikes me as something that may in fact be out of my depth, I'll have to do some digging to figure out the importance. I know very little about spawn chunk importance. To the wiki!
But if I may inquire here as well, what do you mean? Just keeping spawn chunks loaded, or...?

The general idea is that you put all of the redstone in the spawn chunks (since it can all be done remotely nowadays anyway), but you never put the player there. The only time the player should be there is to first spawn onto the server, at which point they're whisked away to wherever it is you want them to actually start and have their spawnpoint set there instead. This means that all those fill clocks won't interfere with the players' connection.
Ask me on skype if you want the deets, I'd be more than happy to help.
EDIT: Also, punch me if I ever say "deets" again. Thanks.

Oh hey, that makes sense. And LoF already has a designated spawn area. Even better is that it is, in fact, at the world's natural spawn location. It's set up in a way that I can easily set up a redstone area below it and work from there. So if I need any constant redstone devices, I can put them there.
However since a lot of the redstone for LoF is very much one-time-use, I don't really think I'll even need that much space? But I'll fiddle around and also take a glance around at what folks have come up with for redstone/command blocks. Perhaps there's some optimization stuff that I just don't even know about. I'll have to see!
(Also utilizing command blocks for more visual effects? Replacing piston effects with fill effects? Yes, please. Though a few places I am going to leave unchanged simply for nostalgia reasons. Others I'm going to improve. Like the labyrinth in the last age? Overhauling that.)
(EDIT: Also? The minecart puzzle in the gray/machine age? Fixing that. Hardcore fixing that.)

Thank goodness, that thing was painful!
Anyway, technically you wouldn't need ALL of the redstone to be in the spawn chunks, but it's good practice anyway. Really, you won't have that many fill clocks in this case, but if there are any fill clocks, put them there.
