Welcome,
For those who wish to mod 1.6.4 (or any verison of MC that has these errors) I have finally found all the sources and instructions to begin modding.
I just started learning how to mod so I am NOT AN EXPERT, any damage or issues that happen while following the instructions I am about to list I am not held accountable for YOUR COMPUTER.
It all began for me when I wanted to get into modding and like most people that use their brain they look on YouTube and find a tutorial and follow along.
So most videos I watched showed how to get Eclipse and the SRC file from minecraftforge.net and run the Install.bat and have no issues then go on Eclipse and they open up the SRC folder and BAM all the files are there but of course my first try at it when I got to the SRC folder in Eclipse there was no drop-down arrow just the folder that would literally do nothing and have nothing. After many hours of trying to find how to solve this issue I only came across more and more people with the same issue. Oldly enough after trying to use different programs to start modding (ex.MCreator) and having issues with those programs to work then fix those issues I finally put them together and got the Eclipse method to work.
(For the SRC.zip folders that have the Install.cmd file)
Go into the fml folder find the mc_version.cfg file, That is the issue
Now go to http://www.mediafire.com/download/k236lw2rqtqjy1n/mc_versions.cfg and download this then replace this file you just downloaded with the one in the fml folder.
Run the Install.cmd, it should take a while but after it is done downloading you can go into Eclipse and you should have the SRC folder with all the packages and files that the YouTuber's have when they begin to mod.
(For the SRC.zip folders that have the gradlew.bat file)
In a extracted folder with all the contents of the .zip file, hold right-shift then right-click
you normal right-click menu should pop up with one addition a "Open command window here" option should now be available
click it and type "gradlew.bat setupDecompWorkspace" (Without quotation marks)
it should download file for a while
once that is complete type "gradlew.bat eclipse" (Without quotation marks)
it should begin downloading more files but shouldnt take as long as the last command that was ran.
Their you go the files should be there when you open Eclipse, I have not watched any tutorials that begin modding with the gradlew.bat file so I dont know about that process, all I know is that I had the problem where when I tried to run the gradlew.bat file it would pop up then disappear so this is what i did and the files worked.
I'm sorry is this is like "simple" but I was at my wits end at trying to get into modding minecraft after the constant issues that come up when trying to just get my workspace setup and scavenging the internet trying to find people that know how to solve these issues.
I really hope this helps people out seeing how long it took me to find the fix for these issues, my main goal of this thread is to give one link that people go to that will solve these issues that I had and what is seems like a lot of people run into. So good luck modding and have fun!
