Full changelog
v1.1 - 2013/05/09 - Now on 1.5.2
Mod updated to 1.5.2. Now the redstone update is complete .
Changes:
• Updated to Minecraft 1.5.2;
• Redstone Jukebox now can be powered from anywhere, not only from below;
• Redstone Jukebox only emits redstone signal to comparators;
• Signal strength = slot being played (1 to 8). Updates the signal when the record changes;
• Works with hoppers and droppers;
• Noteblocks works as amplifiers, each noteblock close to the Redstone Jukebox increases the sound range of the song in 8 blocks, up to +128 blocks. That is enough to clearly hear your music from very far away;
• Noteblocks used to amplify the music range will show music notes particles;
• After a record trade is made with a Villager, some music particles are shown;
v1.0 - 2013/05/04 - I'm alive!!!!!
After a big hiatus, I'm back. The mod was ported to Forge and it is fully funcional. It even works with FeedTheBeast (tested on the Mindcrack pack). Right now the mod works with Minecraft 1.4.7, but at this date, Minecraft 1.5.2 was just released and 1.6 looks really close.
Changes:
• Changed from ModLoader to Forge;
• Added tooltips on the jukebox GUI;
• New commands (playrecord, playrecordat and playbgmusic);
• New item - blank record;
• Special trades with villagers using blank records;
• It is now possible to add custom records to the game (must be ogg files);
2012/12/16 - Forge conversion close to done
Alright! The port to forge is 99% done. Lightning bugs also fixed and some small features added (tooltips on the Jukebox GUI).
It was pretty hard, I had to learn how to work with Forge event handlers, packets and how to sync client and server data. ModLoader was way easier, but I kind of used the "brute force" approach. Forge is harder to use, but offers many more features, I do not regret my decision.
Now I'll try to add the custom records thing and finish version 0.7 before Christmas.
2012/12/07 - Quick update
This mod is going Forge. Sorry, I tried to resist... I'll try to keep a ModLoader version updated as well, but some of the new features I want to add may be a bit different.
One of the two features I want to add is... Custom records. But no promisses yet!
v0.6 (BETA) - 2012/12/05
Mod published.
Open Source
I learned a lot doing Minecraft mods, and a great part of that was done seeing other people's work.
For that reason, my mods are open source, under GPL v3 licence. You can check it on GitHub
Of course I'm not the first person to make a Redstone Jukebox mod (that's why I added my name on the title), but I didn't find any that had the features I wanted. On my search, I found some great work (outdated last time I checked, but still cool):
If you're from Mojang, fell free to add this mod to vanilla (Redstone Update hint hint). A huge bag of money and/or a hug would be appreciated.
Fun fact: This mod took me around 50 hours of work, from the first line of code until teh release of v0.6. Fun fact 2: This mod took me another 67 hours of work, from version 0.6 to version 1.0. That time consisted in rewriting the mod using Forge and adding the new features (commands, trades and custom records). Fun fact 3: The last stable release was v1.1, for minecraft 1.5.2 on 8th May 2013. I made a release candidate for v2.0 (minecraft 1.6.2) in 28th July 2013 that didn't work 100%, but only in 14th September 2015 I finally releases a new stable version, with SMP support. Over two freaking years, holy crap...

This mod seems really great~ and thanks to Dryninja on the video.
It's too bad I can't try it myself, since I don't really use modloader (Using Forge).
Will you ever make it compatible with Forge one day?
And for making such an awesome mod have a meat.

Actually I just installed Forge last night and started to play around with it. I think 0.7 will be Forge, because I want to add custom records, and the way I want is not possible with ModLoader (well, it is, but it's a lot harder...).
Since most of my coding is based on Minecraft code, not ModLoader code, I don't think it will take much time, maybe another week.
Thanks for the meat

Looks very cool. Just glossed over the features, but if this lets me add the jukebox-activated secret door I always wanted, I'm in love.
The Redstone Jukebox provides power when a record is playing, so you could open your passage when a music starts or when it ends (inverting the signal). If I manage to add custom records, I'll add a few "timer" records, like "Silent 30 seconds" and "Silent 1 minute", so you could keep you door opened for that amout of time. You still have to power the jukebox however.
You can also do some sort of Jukebox activated thing using a vanilla Jukebox and a BUD switch.

True. I heard that they were "fixing" BUD switches, though.

Oh, but don't worry, Dinnerbone said on Twitter that if the current BUD gets removed with the redstone fixes, they will add a new block with that function. The concept of BUD is too popular, they wouldn't remove without something to replace it.

I don't quite know what is needed to make it bukkit compatible, but I'll take a look. With the forge port (close to done) I think this mod will be SMP too. I'll make some tests.
Thanks for the interest!

Hi! I've been looking for a great jukebox mod! This one looks good and I like that it is still being actively worked on. But I'm having a problem getting it to work. I had been fighting with ModLoader (kept getting black screen) and finally got it to work when I deleted ALL of the app data for minecraft and re-installed Modloader. Once I got it to work without crashing I tried to install this mod. I dragged the zip file I downloaded into the "mods" folder in .minecraft. It seemed to start up fine but it froze at the Mojang logo. Then it crashed and I looked up the crash report file. I'm pasting the crash report below.

Ohhh. I forgot I updated. I'm considering getting Forge instead but I have to check it's compatibility with other mods I might want to use. The x-ray mod that I sometimes use (not currently) says it needs Modloader so I have to see if it works with both Forge and Redstone Jukebox. Will making custom disks be a feature in the ModLoader version or only Forge? If it's only for Forge I'll definitely be making the switch! That is going to be/would be an amazing feature to this mod!
All the features of this mod should be included in the vinilla game. Idk why they aren't already!
Thanks for the response and for making this awesome mod! I'll be watching and waiting for the update!
EDIT: I decided to download Forge. But it seems no one's made a forge compatible x-ray mod. o_O I'm gonna use modloader until I can get one to work.
This mod os finally updated for Minecraft 1.4.7, using Forge.
Yes, I know we are at 1.5.2 now, but I wanted to finish the mod for Minecraft 1.4.7 because that is the version FeedTheBeast is using. To be fair, FTB is the reason why I didn't finish the mod in 2012. After the mindcrack pack got released, it pretty much drained all free time I had on my vacation...
A few days ago was my birthday, so I decided to give myself a gift and finish this thing. I havent touched the project after the end of 2012, but since most of the code was done, I just needed to add some fine-tunning and bug fixes.
Now I'll work on the 1.5.2 version, and a few things will change. I want to make use of the comparator and hoppers.
To my surprise, I still had downloads of the mod up to April, even with no updates. Thanks to everyone that used it.

Any help on how to fix the crashing would be great. I really want to try out this mod. Thanks!
Looks like it's a Minecraft version thing. My mod is for 1.4.5, and looks like you are on 1.4.6. I'm finishing the forge version, yesterday I updated it to 1.4.6 but there is still some coding left to do. After that I'll update the ModLoader version too.
Thanks for the interest!

A small mod to improve your game, but keeping the vanilla flavour. For Minecraft 1.8.
Also check out my Redstone Jukebox mod, now updated to Minecraft 1.7.10!

Now screenshots!
Testing record trades on 1.5.2
Comparators! Hoppers! The new Redstone Jukebox will only send power to comparators and can be powered from anywhere.
New feature!
Bonus: Some tests on FTB Mindcrack using the version 1.0 of this mod (minecraft 1.4.7)
