There are several of them out there; I developed this because I felt that several issues I've been talked about of existing skin programs could easily be fixed, yet there was seemingly nothing done about them. Give my program a try, don't shrug it off with ignorance.
Awesome love it!! I don't mind making skins in Paint, but with this I can see how it looks without having to log in and see it change my mind or see it looks wrong and all that back and forth till it's right.
:cool.gif: Gratz on the
Thank you, Midipopo - while most editors can indeed do that, I took it one step further by making the 3d player the canvas. There is a 2d skinning mode, however it does not let you preview the 3d model at the same time as of yet, it's being worked on though! Don't forget, you can even upload the skin at the bottom directly to Minecraft without ever using your browser!
Now only for something that makes you able to do this for mobs :laugh.gif:
I really like this and it is a lot easier to use than the previous skin editor I have been using and it is a lot better than paint.net
5 Notches for you
Great, now I have five Minecraft programmers setting up their laptops on my bed.. maybe this will get 1.0 out quicker? :smile.gif:
Thank you for the kind remarks. Mob and block skinning is planned for a future release (on the current road map, 1.4, but that could change at any time).
NovaSkin does not have the same features my program does. My program is a lot more advanced.
Hey, you know what would make this truly epic?
If you could switch to mob models and re-texture them as well.
Planned. Expect it around version 1.4. It will also support blocks.
no mac? AAAA!
Sorry - .NET isn't as cross-platform as I wished it was. Blame Apple for not wishing to support a great standard.
I think I love you...
This just for you!
Finally! an easy way to make skins!
Thanks!
That is a really good program. Would definately recommend it. Though i feel like it is missing the tool, where you can take a part of a body, and copy the textures from that part, and paste it onto another part of him. Otherwise, awesome 3D Skin viewer/editer.
I haven't gotten too many requests for a "parts chooser", as is called, but I feel it may be a feature people want at some point. I'll write it down and get to it probably 1.4+ at some point.
This is brilliant! I do love pixel art, it always peeves me to see people using skins others made or they are using my own skin because they used some app to download it. This does take away from the nostalgia of making one from scratch in Paint.net but it looks bloody amazing! Thanks Paril.

Looks pretty cool, never bothered to look up the other skin editors, I might actually make my own skin now. I see it supports 32x which is cool and what I usually run at, I take it if I load a 64x or higher skin, it will auto-adjust?
Mob support already planned, so no need to ask for it :-)
Only thing I can think of to ask for is picture import. Not skin import, but say I have a pic of any size or type (within reason, for sure) and I want to use parts of it in the skin, I'd like to be able to import it and paste it onto the model, either by selecting the polys that it will paste onto or let it paste into the whole model, etc. Then, drag it around to align it to the poly I want it on, and let it clip off the rest of the picture that doesn't fit on the face(s) of the model selected to have the picture pasted into. Make sense?
Only error I get is when I select the RGBA or HSLA color pickers, but it doesn't seem to affect how the program runs.
System.InvalidOperationException: Visual Styles-related operation resulted in an error because no visual style is currently active.

Thanks! I'm not an artist myself so I really can't sympathise - I'd hate to do my programming in Notepad :sad.gif:
Hope mob texturing will be added soon, as they are the hardest to texture since I have no idea what parts are what and there are no guides.
It'll probably be this month some time; I have it planned for version 1.4, as 1.3 will largely be a content update in terms of skin management and 3d previewing.
Huh, weird. I was opening the .exe and it threw an exception..Saved, uploaded: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/31527479/error.txtThis looks like an awesome program, please fix it! I want to make epic skinz!Oh, btw, when it finally starts a big red Box with an X in the middle keeps flashing..
Interesting - my guess is you didn't extract it, because DevIL.dll is in the rar that I put up. If it's really not there I'll post it up again.

Ahh, yeah, you have visual styles disabled.. I'll look into implementing a fix for 1.3. Yes, it does support high resolution skins, up to 256x128 (due to a limitation it won't work past that and may crash).
Someone asked for a similar feature, although purely for color picking.. I'll think about it.
Wow! I must say, this is so good and usefull :smile.gif: I like that you can upload your freshly made skin inside the program, without going all the way to Minecraft.net, login, browse through all the folders to find the skin you made, and then upload it. Now you can just click on "Use This Skin!", Login(for those who haven't set on auto-login), and then you are done :biggrin.gif:
Why thank you!

I won't stop until every skin artist is completely satisfied with their current skinning experience! Or until I die, whichever comes first.
