Here's my current skin. I'll probably be keeping this one for a while, I quite llike it. A demon, I might change the horns to a hood and keep the eyes the way they are. but it'd be a minor change.
This is my current. It's an edit of multiple sprites, originally intended for RPGmaker XP. The sprites made by wonderful spriter Sithejester (here's Sithjester's site: http://untamed.wild-refuge.net/rmxpreso ... characters )
The base for most of Sithjester's sprites is the RPGmaker XP default. I once was working on a game for XP, and the hero looked a bit like this.
I got out of rpgmaker xp as soon as UDK became free. And of course now minecraft has taken over half my life.
No it's not, shading would imply that logical lighting was used, noise is just mess to simulate detail, not to simulate shading.
I'm not a big fan of adding noise to a skin. I prefer using a few colors to keep a low bit affect. Usually a black, white, and 3-4 shades of several different colors (a highlight, normal, shadow, and sometimes a darker shade). That's my opinion.
Noise is to simulate texture not shading...noise can do this pretty well if used correctly but people use it just for the sake of using it and it doesn't look good.
I have NO idea how to upload my skin, but it's Adria Life: Opposing Force. I got it from Ol' Snowman up there ;D check out his site lol... pretty neat skins...
