My previous "shaded" version of my jester skin was just a bunch of noise, but thanks to this tutorial, I think I have salvaged my masterpiece, thanks man.
This is by far one of the most useful things I've seen on this site! THANKS A BUNCH! :biggrin.gif:

I randomly found this thread through someone's sig. My skin had shading before and I was happy with it but then I tried out this technique and it just looks a lot better, a lot more natural and I'm a lot more happy with it now.
Thank you!
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I was successful in using this method in Paint.net. So yes, it does work.
Also, a quick way to get a textured look, is with gimp, (if you have it) just make a new layer
and apply Filters>Render>Clouds>Plasma and de saturate it, then set the layer mode to multiply (or burn if you like).
You can adjust the strength based on the opacity.
Thank you soooo much this is VERY helpful i can now make my skin design without having to worry about shading each and every pixel by hand this saves so much time and makes them look waay better :smile.gif: thanks again :biggrin.gif:

Do you know how to make HD Skins? I think I know how but I need an HD skin to start with. Misa's are the wrong dimensions.

In addition, I created my own diagram to show how the Minecraft character is mapped out.
