I'm not a fan of cartoon packs I over used Sphax and any cartoon pack just doesn't get my interest unless it has "something". NOW this has a subtle shading and wonderful looking art style with a unique look to how the world looks. I especially like the use of gradients, textures and the forms you are creating for the plant life etc.
It reminds me of Torchlight, WoW esque with a simplicity about it, colour harmony is great too.
I will keep checking in on this, great work so far
May i suggest rethinking the name or asking for suggestions i greatly think it needs a more deserving name
Holy shoot this is amazing! The grass is pretty flat, that is the one thing that I don't like. Other than that, saying that this is amazing is DEFINITELY not enough; don't stop this project, this looks really, really nice man. Keep up the good work!
Thank you all so so much for your responses! I'm totally taking all your crits and comments down, and hopefully when it's time to test out the beta, you guys can also give it a proper play-through to find anything that's amiss!
I also just need to do a nice tiling pass in general once the basic shapes are in.
I posted an image of the pack on tumblr, and people seem very interested! Which in turn, got me sort of re-invigorated so
here's a few items I whipped up today! (the text on the written book says....book...haha)
also for more up-to-date stuff you can check out the tumblr:
This pack is on a whole other level than anything i've seen here on the forums. Just when you think you've seen all there is to see in regards to texture packs someone like you comes out with a pack like this and just blows our minds. Really great job. I hope this pack will be around for a long long time.
If/when you get this finished, I see it becoming my default. It's bound to get compared to Sphax for the cartoon-like nature but it's got a much more subtle, pleasant palette with some tasty texture. I love the way the items actually feel chunky. Cracking job!
Edit: I'm going to stick my neck out and add something else here. Looking at your other little graphics samples on your tumblr, you should consider trying to track down a coder and put your work in to a small indie game. It'd look delicious.
HI again guys! Thanks soooo soooo much for the really encouraging words! I've been able to keep a really consistent update schedual because of the push of support for the pack!
cooldude1128: I use photoshop for all my textures, and a lot of lasso tool within photoshop. If your interested in some process, here is a very stupid silly twitch stream of me working on my textures (Warning, many puns)
Rekonin: Thank you! I actually work at a game studio right now full time, but i am certainly not opposed to finding side projects and gamejam games to always do more art for!
ZoGaa: I'm going to be getting some free bugtracking software and open up a small beta sometime before july4th when the pack will go live, so stay tuned!
Also guys! If you are interested in more regular updates, I put up the latest textures on my tumblr every Saturday (http://jamizzles.tumblr.com/) but I will try and backfill here as often as I can. Here are some of the latest textures:
I saw this pack while I was on tumblr, and I just had to search it up in the minecraft forums! This is absolutely beautiful; I love the whimsical feel and I anticipate the release. I hope this resource pack becomes extremely successful and gains its own community with fans that would expand it to mod patches because I would love to play with these textures in a modpack.
