I know there's gerudoku (and such), but I really wanted the original Doku Rpg (without all the modified/changed textures).
I've used custom block models to make the iron/gold/diamond blocks look like how they were way back then (with specific side/top/bottom textures). Also, using the custom block models allowed me to have the grass bypass biome coloring, so you're able to have the color be consistent throughout and also keep the flower's appearance intact.
There is a few issues with biome coloring on certain leaves (trying to see if I can fix).
----------------
All the original textures should be in here, as well as a few new ones I've been working on (such as the bed). I do not plan to change or alter any original textures. And with the new ones that I do make, I aim to do my best to make sure it fits with the overall theme / color palette.
Constructive ideas & feedback are welcomed and appreciated.
Did you make every texture? if not did you get permission to use them? if not you should probably remove this thread as it is thievery. otherwise they look amazing. like gerudoku.
Handsome_Dan is one of the managers of the Doku project. I'm pretty sure he has permission to use textures he's partially in charge of. I'm usually pretty strict about this sort of thing myself... but I think we can give the benefit of the doubt on this one.
Sort of off-topic, but it really says something about the level of theft in the Resource Pack community that this is the first response to any new pack that has a familiar name.
As to the pack itself... It's Doku. Of course it's good. Not sure what I can say more than that, to be honest. What more can one really say that hasn't been said before?
Is it fair to just give him the benefit of the doubt though? what if he didnt create the textures, and so you should be strict. you cant single people out just because hes a manager. he isnt the creator? is he?
Also isnt he breaking his OWN rules?
You know what, I'm not totally sure who has the rights to grant additional permissions when it comes to Doku to be completely honest. Maybe let whoever was given control of the pack from the original creator himself a PM and let them know. That person is really the only one who can make the decisions and grant additional rights in the original artist's absence... and even then technically only if given the right to do so from Doku himself in the first place. Regardless, if the one in charge of the pack currently doesn't like this, it will get taken down.
I think we should let Handsome_Dan show us the legalities and info on this if he can prove himself so be it. if not, i think he HAS to remove this thread? am i right or no?
Proof of permission is the burden of the poster in these situations, yes, but he could just correctly point out that he's a manager of the pack and assert that he has the right to give himself permission. Since it is true that he's a manager (this can be verified), and there's no reason to doubt that he has this authority, it would then fall to whomever has ownership of the project to ask that it be removed.
Effectively, giving the benefit of the doubt is actually the best course of action, but if you're really that concerned you need to address those concerns through the proper channels. You can also report it and plead your case to the moderators, though again I believe that they'd probably extend him the benefit of the doubt in this situation.
This is basically a side project I was working on; taking the original DokuRpg (from minecraft alpha) and trying to update/convert it for modern versions of minecraft. I know there's Gerudoku around, (which takes textures from DokuRpg as well as others). But Gerudoku is a remix pack, and swaps out certain textures (such as the original bookcases) for other ones. Also, the textures added in Gerudoku don't fit the original theme very well, so this side project was to address that.
I don't own the original Doku Rpg textures (I've only stated that I've created some new ones to fill the gaps), but seeing how gerudoku is still around (as it's a remix pack), I didn't feel there would be too much conflict of me updating the original (while leaving the original textures alone).
No one in the actual Dokucraft: The Saga Continues thread/team was against me working on it, and a member of the forums suggested I make my own thread (as you see here).
Doku stopped texturing during 1.8 beta, and only logs in about once/twice a year to say hello on the thread. I could pm and ask for his blessing to work on this project, but not sure if I would get a timely response.
I am all for you doing this, its a brilliant thing to do, all i can say is continue and do TRY to get a response from Doku, that would probably help.
Looking through his early posts, he doesn't seem to mind if someone picks up a discontinued project of his to work on; he only stated he doesn't want his work to be used while it's current.

I've been working on the emerald/lapis blocks and the other doors. I'll post them when I get a chance.
My only quipt about this is yet -ANOTHER- Doku pack..
I'm all for the continuing thread, but there are so many of these extra Doku packs floating around. @.x
Most likely when this pack comes to at least terrain completion, it'll be transferred to the Saga Continues thread. But since it's not really a full pack, I thought it would be best to place it here.
Had some door ideas (based off the jukebox pattern) for DokuRpg:
I personally like the red ones more, but I'm not sure if I want it to have studs or not. In saying that, I don't want too much red everywhere, but it's part of the main color scheme.
I'm partial to the third one on the top row, so I decided to test it out in-game:

Out of all the doors you've got there I like the third In the top row, the second looks a little bit empty without the studs,
personally I don't think the green doors fit as well with the pack as the red ones.
These textures will always be the most nostalgic for me...
It reminds me when I was so new to Minecraft, just watching it on YouTube instead of playing it for myself. My father didn't really trust the internet with his credit card, so I could never ask him to buy it for me. I remember rooting and wondering when the net episode of Shadow of Israphel will come out (that series it long dead ).
I really hope you're able to do this, you have my support (i feel like you can since you're one of Dokucraft's contributors)!
Best of luck Dan. It looks great so far. I've recently taken over Derivation from Levaunt and boy it is amazingly difficult to keep to the Derivation style. So much of my days working on Saga continues wants to leak out into the textures here and there. I keep having to stop myself and fix a problem area on a texture.

Same here. I remember looking up minecraft on youtube to see what a few of my friends were talking about, and then I discovered that series. Had a lot of fun watching them, and about a few weeks later I bought the game

Thanks for the support Yeah, luckily the styles of dokucraft and this dokurpg are similar enough to where it shouldn't be too much of a problem, but I do have to check in time to time to make sure I'm getting the colors right. His older packs have a lower contrast with darker colors, whereas a lot of Dokucraft is pretty bright in comparison.
I have a few new blocks I've been working on, but nothing final yet. When I post stuff, I'm always open to suggestions, as well as submissions if anyone wants to help out here and there if needed.
the very early versions of doku's RPG had some interesting leaf textures, rather strange but well suited to jungle and acacia trees if you want to be completely faithful, also his super old experimental ores would be perfect to tweak for lapis/quartz/emerald, the old legacy textures are frequently overlooked in remix/continuation packs

No, I just haven't found much time to work on it recently.
I am making an update for it (should be out sometime next week). Hopefully I'll get some feedback for it and take it from there.
