Skybox texture ? . . . All vanilla textures have to be redone, so the order doesn't really matter. It's just personal preference what gets made first. I usually have a couple textures going, mostly all wip and I work on them when I feel inspired to do them. I don't pay much attention to what gets done first. But my main prioirty is getting the pack up to 1.5.2 (?) or 1.4 . . . and that's probably the hardest part because of all the mobs and the chain armor . . . after that it should be really easy with more regular updates, until then it'll probably pretty slow as it's just me and a couple of you guys working on it at the moment.
Basically, the old team abandoned the project, and poor Gamin here was left alone for a while. If you're willing to make a fire texture for us, please do so, it's one of the things we need.
Speaking of Gamin, I have been rolling ideas around my head while playing, and I had an epiphany. You're completely right about the enderman. Screw aliens, this makes much much more sense.
You get to the End through a stronghold. The stronghold (in LFADE, anyway..) is said to have been a nuclear bunker owned by the military. The portal was their escape attempt. In a final bid to escape their dying planet, they made a portal to the stars and took humanity with them. Under this notion, the End Island itself would be an asteroid.
This is more realistic than the trash island you wanted, or the ludicrously tiny alien world I wanted. It also doesn't break LFADE, as the humans could be mutated enough so that they don't resemble humanity anymore. One of the books in LFADE describes them as something along the lines of "Forget Alien (the movie), these guys are more terrible, more ugly than we could have imagined" This is also tragically ironic, if you consider it.
Le Lore de Plot
The people on the asteroid tried to survive, even building cities (The End Cities of 1.9, which should probably have some sci-fi textures- we're pretty lacking in those).
Eventually though, the people expressed a desire to leave (running out of supplies, perhaps? The End cities only have beetroot in them for food...) and built huge towers of teleportation blocks to make a new portal back to Earth. The portal didn't work as planned though, and an Eldritch Being came through the other side. This is the Ender Dragon. Its presence warped the appearance of the humans on the asteroid, mutating them. These mutated humans still have the devices given to them by the military.. The ender pearls they drop would be military technology (A teleporter for emergencies, perhaps?), and they sometimes teleport to Earth using them, where the player kills them. By crafting one with blaze powder (Blazes would have to be apocalypse related in this event), the device detects an emergency situation going on (the Apocalypse) and, when used, will attempt to evacuate the player to the new world, by leading them to the portal.
Upon entering though, the player sees that the new world is even more damaged than Earth, and they fight the Eldritch Being. Upon killing it, Reality stabilizes, and the portal becomes operational again, allowing for the player to pass between the worlds. If they choose to do so, they can recreate the technology the military used to summon the Eldritch Being in the first place, and can do so. (In 1.9 you can summon the Ender Dragon again and again after you beat it once.
Tl;dr? People evacuated to an asteroid, summoned an Eldritch Monster trying to escape, and were all horribly mutated by it.
For implementing this, you could have people in space suits, maybe with U.S. logos, or even 'Santech' on it? You'd want them looking worse for the wear, maybe tears in the suit, cracked visor, etc. These could be the enderman. We could have ones with TV static in their faces as an alternate texture? I like it, but I don't think it should be the primary texture. I think the name "Lost Survivor" would work.
The Ender Dragon should probably be looking pretty bad too. If he's from an alternate reality, and is even damaging ours, I'd expect him to be injured, or even scared in this alien universe. For his texture, just look up "Eldritch Abomination" in Google. Plenty of inspiration.
Ender Pearls should be a military teleporter, probably just a remote with a big red button and little screen on it (like a calculator but with one button). When you use it, you'd get a breaking sound, and a light would emerge, land, and you'd be teleported. Eyes of Ender should be the same, but with the screen showing big exclamation marks and various illegible data.
Endermites could be warped rats or cockroaches something? I don't know, they're weird.
I have no idea, I'm just the ideas guy. BCBKING did some GUIs for us a couple months back, he could probably help, though I don't even know how to contact the guy. Also "When does the update do?" is misleading and confusing. What are you even asking there?
I'm so sorry that i didn't have the time to reply, but just for those who want to create animated textures, this video might help a little bit...(a little I guess?I don't know)
never the less, any of u guys have seen the problem with the tree texture when you put the graph down to "fast"?
Okay I haven't been really active been a bit distracted with the holidays and all xD. But I don't know if I stated this but I want to focus on 1.5 (redstone updtae) and prior. So that means the farm animals, the end, gui, chain armor, and a couple others santiago left out. I saw someone mentioned the gui and BCBKing did an awesome job but, if I recall correctly it wasn't really in the style. Such as the enchant table the gui is enchant table. And that's what I mam trying to do. I am currently working on the anvil and furnace but they are extremely wip.
Anyway to contradict what I stated above I worked up a quick coal_block skin. I think Dah King mentioned to make it a crate of coal ? . . . I dunno but here it is. I am not sure I like it maybe I got to make it less messy and more covered in coal dust. . . .
it's rather small ? . . . just look at it ingame I guess. just drop it in the blocks folder
From what I can see of it, it looks pretty good. In my original idea, it was open on top (You can see the coal), and you could see some coal from small openings in the sides. I like it though, it's a good start.
Gamin, I wrote up a page of ideas for the End a couple posts back, on page 30. Do my ideas sound feasible?
Yeah I saw your ideas, I just forgot to comment. I like them more than the aliens as there is more substance to yours. I want to make some spacesuits but, that might be to close to the hazmat/pigmen. I will probably do the T.V heads as I feel there is a lot of potential there with animated textures . . . I will most likely do your design as an alternative that's separate, by then I should be proficient in pixel art as Im getting better at it.
Back to the pigmen though I am thinking about altering the nether fortress texture to make it more of a fortress. I am not really sure what it is now, and I don't think it really fits with the whole thing and the blocks aren't really useful in map building, but Im no map maker so I am not completely sure. If I do this I will keep the normal nether texture for netherrack, soulsand, ghast, blaze, & netherwarts. But I will make the pigmen in white scapesuits and probably make the lava more acidic, like you're in a giant stomach or something. I really don't like the current nether fortress texture.
minecraft uses the same texture for all sides of the block. If I was good at ctm or whatever Im sure it'd be easy to add a new face texture to the top but I don't really know how to do that. There is a bit of coal coming out of the side as if the boards don't line up.
Onto what I stated earlier about getting up to 1.5 . . . I worked a bit on the comparater. I think it's finished.
What do you think about making exp orbs into ones and zeros ? . . . as you input them into some sort of computer. or should it be little coins ? that you put into the machine and it gives you enchants ? . . .
I'm fine with changing the Nether Brick texture, but not the pigmen texture- they're fine. Lava should also stay as lava, otherwise the overworld's textures would be messed up. I do, however, love the comparator, and your idea for xp being coins. I really like the current enchantment table, you use instruction books to improve your weapons and armor.
You could just have a spacesuit with TV static for the face. It's a cool visual.
I haven't seen it, Dony. Maybe re-post it, or tell us what page it's on?
Well the pigmen texture wouldn't be changed much just the color it will just be white with slime and stuff on it. I think if I were to do the texture a more yellowish I would have it fit in both worlds.
Sorry Dony I don't remember your gui, if you don't mind posting it again, I'd love to see it
What did you say the Nether was supposed to be again? The Nether Quartz blocks are factory-based blocks, but the ore itself is just a weird chunk in the netherrack. If we're going for a different approach, the ore could be damaged, melted versions of the quartz blocks, like they were placed there and then melted partially. That could be cool. We also need a texture for the item itself, which could just look like slag? If the pigmen are to be scientists, give them lab coats. I change my mind about keeping them as-is; we already have gold armor to look like that, so the pigmen's current texture is redundant.
I've never actually seen a magma cube in this pack- let me turn on Minecraft for a minute to check. Computer crashed. I'll edit this post when it's working (typing this on my laptop).
If we're going for a scientist angle on the pigmen, than the fortresses could be abandoned bases for them. In this case, Nether Brick could have a metallic texture, for a heat resistant metal, like titanium, or tungsten. I don't recommend titanium, because it's very shiny, so here's an image of a machine made mostly out of tungsten.
I know tungsten is extremely rare, but we can pretend the Nether's stone is high in rare minerals and metals for whatever reason. That's why it burns. It's high in phosphorus. >_> I think Netherrack should be changed from "Mutant Stone" to some kind of high-mineral stone. It'd make the Nether in this pack look less like the inside of a yellow barf bag, and more like an underground cavern filled with mutated scientists and abandoned labs... with neon hanging from the ceiling. I just don't know what to do about that. Is there a way to make placed blocks have a different texture than natural blocks? If so, we could make the glowstone look like giant crystals, that we then craft into lights? I don't know- I'm at the end of my rope here.
If you want to redo the blazes, just make them a "Robotic Sentry" as they are right now, but with a more robotic body, and a lava jar for a head. (Power Source?)
Wither Skeletons are the oddball to me. They need to be something important, because you create the wither with their heads. The wither drops a nuclear core, so the wither skeleton needs to be something radioactive. Maybe they could be some kind of escaped experiment, I'm thinking a cyborg or robot powered by nuclear energy. That sounds good. They also drop coal, so maybe they're all burned from so much time in the Nether?
That brings up the point of soul sand. It slows the player down, and is used to make the Wither. I'm supportive of soul sand being an organic block, anywhere from "mutant stone" to a huge thrombolite. (Basically living rocks)
That leaves Nether Wart and Ghasts. Nether Wart could easily be a "Strange Fungus" or something that the scientists were experimenting on. I don't particularly care for what it is now.
I will address this immediately after reading this time.
I imagine the nether as being a giant organism, like one mass and the lava is more of it's acid/how it feeds (like a pitcher plant of sorts but more fleshy)
Man went there for some reason _________my lore's a bit fuzzy_______________. They created the portal to the dimension and curious of the new environment began researching. But researching on people, mentally ill people. I was going to make the pigmen kind of doctor esque and withers like hospitalized experiments in lil hospital gowns probably with an open back so you can see their cute butts . And blazes as automated sentries protecting the pigmen. Though they got infected by the nether and the blazes still protect the turned.
Bloats are perfect and adorable. though when we get custom sounds they should make like a farting nose . . . like a baby making fart noises
Though I like the idea of a cave, but the nether isn't really rich in resources. the only reason to really go in the nether is for science, like netherwatrs and blaze rod.
I dunno maybe if I change the pigmen to be white I might change gold armor too. nevermind I won't then it won't be a golden color.
The reason I said it would be chock-full of minerals is because Tungsten is an extremely rare metal. I chose Tungsten because it has a massively high melting point (In real life, not even lava can melt it. Not even close.) You can also set Netherrack on fire, which suggests a high amount of Phosphorus in the ground. Phosphorus can be anything from extremely flammable to extremely explosive. I believe they put it in both napalm and firecrackers. Having the Nether appeals to me a lot (I'm going for a Biology major after high school), but there's several flaws.
-There's no reason to have science labs in a stomach. It'd be too dangerous.
-The Nether Quartz needs to be metallic. There's no reason that metal chunks would be infused into stomach lining.
-Turning lava to acid would completely ruin LFADE, as there's an area with volcanoes.
You say the ghasts are cute, my dad says they look like butt-holes in this pack. XD
What do we do about the glowstone. It looks extremely bad and out of place as is. Is it possible to have a natural texture separate from a placed texture? If so, we could have giant crystals as the natural texture, and the neon (renamed of course) as the manufactured texture.
Having it as a cave also gives a reason to go there. They went there so they could have a safe, quiet, place to test things, and to harvest the huge amounts of tungsten in the rocks. If you made it a stomach, what would the nether brick be? Bile blocks? Flesh Tiles? And what would the Nether Quartz be? Gall stones? I just don't see it working I'm afraid.
I like the idea of the beacon being a nuclear reactor, and the Nether Star being a nuclear core. If the Wither was a patient, why would they have a nuclear core? I really want to avoid having any patient (especially mentally ill ones) in this pack, because it's an extremely overdone cliche.
And for glowstone with mcpatcher you can set blocks to specific biomes, so in the nether glowstone could look natural and when you place it anywhere else it'll be different.
yeah Im not to confident on my nether ideas. But I feel like having a valuable ore in the game you'd want to mine it and make armor and weapons.
Other than that I agree with you a lot more like a massive cave with a dark rock texture or something ? . . . but then bloats wouldn't really fit :'(
As for the netherbrick as was thinking just like a hospital/prison style. But perhaps they didn't settle in the nether in it's current state, maybe their presence irritated the nether and made it more aggressive.
I like the nuclear core, like the beacons give you special radiation power xD. you could use the the wither skeletons as vessels (?) for the wither like flesh puppets powered by the souls sand (?)
I feel like the thread will soon be filled with just us figuring out lore, perhaps we should continue this in PM
I'd love to continue in PM- I know team members are supposed to have a Skype, but I hate Skype with a vengeance. I can power through though, if necessary.
That's exactly what I think of the Wither. The Soul Sand would be some kind of sapient stone. (Mutant Thrombolite?) The heads are those of a nuclear-powered cyborg. The Consciousness within the soul sand controls the heads and becomes ultra powerful.
Sadly, I've never gotten MC-Patcher to work correctly, for anything- though that sounds like what I'm looking for.
You're also right about the dark stone. Here's an image of Tungsten Ore- the dark part is the natural Tungsten. You'll also want chunks of raw iron (just little grayish rocks will do) mixed in, because phosphorus is found mainly on iron ore. Here's a second image.
Bloats still fit, I feel. They're like the slimes on the surface. Even way down in the depths of the Earth, the Infected are rampant.
The only thing about the Nether we've yet to mention is the fog. Can you change the red fog and red sky using a texture pack? Is that even a thing?
My hard-drive is acting weird, so for right now, I can't play on my Minecrafting computer. That means I can't see what Magma cubes look like. Do they even have a texture yet? We could make them like Juvenile Bloats. >.>
Let me know if I should make a Skype account or not.
Edit: Reread the posts and noticed you mentioned a pitcher plant. I actually have one over the kitchen sink. Eats about three flies a day...
Reedit: I found a texture pack that has dark blue netherrack. Very Cave-like, as I thought.
Where are all the things that the updates said there'd be? I'd really like a custom sky box and animal textures.
Do you plan on adding fire textures? I know it's 32 x 32 but even I could make them.
Yeah I do, that's one of the things I am working on now. the difficult is trying to make it dynamic and alive, and not flat
But wheres the Skybox textures and animal textures
Skybox texture ? . . . All vanilla textures have to be redone, so the order doesn't really matter. It's just personal preference what gets made first. I usually have a couple textures going, mostly all wip and I work on them when I feel inspired to do them. I don't pay much attention to what gets done first. But my main prioirty is getting the pack up to 1.5.2 (?) or 1.4 . . . and that's probably the hardest part because of all the mobs and the chain armor
. . . after that it should be really easy with more regular updates, until then it'll probably pretty slow as it's just me and a couple of you guys working on it at the moment.
Basically, the old team abandoned the project, and poor Gamin here was left alone for a while. If you're willing to make a fire texture for us, please do so, it's one of the things we need.

End stone would be cold grey stone like you'd see on an asteroid, or the moon, probably pock-marked with little craters. http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/MSNBC/Components/Photo/_new/100601-coslog-nasarock-hmedium-220p.jpg
End Stone Bricks would be a similar color of brick, should probably resemble pumice bricks. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51nFx2NyMQL._SY300_.jpg
Chorus trees, like I said in an earlier post, could be tentacle like machines growing from the ground.
All the purpur blocks would be sci-fi textures, probably limited to gray, black, and white coloring to match the bleak landscape.
The Elytra could be a wingsuit. It's pretty straightforward, really.
I hope that's everything! Tell me what you think.
Edit: Happy new year everyone! Good job surviving the End for another year! Good luck in the next!
When does the update do? . When coming the chests and anvil gui texture ?

Ghasts are cute, but look like cat butts
