Stacked up you'll see the Iron Block, which is now a crate of <insert what I'm calling iron here>. When I said that Blocks of metal would be crates, I hadn't thought that meant Iron Blocks and Gold blocks, etc for some reason. That's a real relief because I was struggling to see what to make those into. I also think it makes a lot of sense for survival gameplay.
Theres also the new torch on the left. Sort of a fluorescent torch. The floor is made of Oak Planks, which I don't think I've showed you yet.
Finally, I've decided to switch the cobblestone and stone brick textures out. I included the old cobblestone (left) and old stone brick (right) for reference:
Why? Well first of all there will be three versions of Commonite: natural commonite, commonite and refined commonite. Natural will obviously be normal Stone that you find underground. The cobblestone texture looked more "refined" and designed so I'd like to make them the refined version. Something you would have to work at getting in survival. As an added bonus, this makes fortresses all have the old cobblestone texture and look like actual scifi bases.
For those of you waiting for a release, I'm trying to make that happen within the next couple of days (assuming nothing comes up). This should give me time to get the custom names for blocks set up. Questions/comments/concerns?
I'm glad you are reviving your project. I've been having a very hard time to find good and consistent sci-fi/space themed texture packs. Some I've found either go overboard with exaggerated effects or simply try to conciliate the typical medieval feel with high-tech.
Either later today, or early tommorow. It depends on when I finish the few things I have left. I didn't have much time yesterday to work on anything. Right now I'm working on the wool and finishing up the last of the logs/planks. Here's what the wool will look like:
Looking great, I suppose it will also be metallic?
Actually, since they added stained clay I'm going to keep the wool as wool. I tried to convey this by not using the bright highlight that give the other blocks the metallic feel, and also by using a stitched outline.
I can't wait for the download! And the wool looks cool Also Shilohturtle ROBOTIC SHEEP! Was a easy way to explain it!
That wouldn't explain reproduction. He would also have to make wheat into something that would breed robots, and then he would need to explain cows. That would result in robotic cows dropping organic meat.
Ok, Not robot CYBORG! Part sheep Part Robot Meaning it could keep all the sheep stuff ( Eating Reproduction etc) just his wool would be metal! Anyway It doesn't matter any more since it's wool anyway.
How would the children have robotic parts when born?
I think animals (pigs, cows, horses etc) should look like animals though, not robots.
Think of a mission to colonize a distant planet: it's supposed to carry actual animals to populate the planet (if it supports life). In a futuristic context, animals would have collars or belts with radio-transmitters so the settlers can keep track of them.
I have a base on the Moon and a space station in my Galacticraft world. If I decide to build a farm (for food or study), I rather prefer actual animals in them, not robots or cyborgs.
I'm going to say this:
People who know me know I dislike 'simple' style packs with a passion.
But this is a very well done and thought out pack even if it is 'solid color with a few lines'. It's refreshing to see a 'simple' design also be complex and detailed. Plus how the blocks all can connect to one another by using the same grid pattern... I love it.
I'm not saying robot sheep are better I agree Sheep sheep are better I was just trying to think how Robot sheep would work BUT Why would there be a sheep on every planet in the universe? That seems abit lucky.
Hopefully I can settle this argument by saying that the sheep are alien. As in, they are quadrupedal organisms that are similar to sheep from earth, and the closest thing colonists have, so they use wool from this alien.
In another news, I wrapped up the logs and planks:
WHICH MEANS, I'm somewhat satisfied enough to release this to you guys. These must have went through at least 10 drastically different variations each. It's actually a lot harder than it looks to get the right amount of detail in. If one block looks way too detailed next to the others, I have to adjust it. Same thing goes for blocks that look to plain.
Right now I'm just taking screenshots and such for the post on Curse, it should be up and ready in no time. I'll post again with a link.

There are some good simple packs out there, but yeah most simple packs are awful bucket-fills. I think the effort it requires to get all the blocks to link up and come up with good designs for them outweighs the little effort it takes to actually do the texture itself. Its unclear right now whether I'll graduate to a more shaded approach, but at the moment everything seems to be working out quite nicely.
Uh, I wasn't having a argument I'm not sure about the other guys I was just sharing my ideas of how Sheep's could of been Cyborgs ( Before it was wool ) Etc, I'm Sorry if it seemed liked I was trying to make a argument.
Also Can't wait for the download! Every time you post a image I get so much more hyped !
And I didn't mean that to come off as harsh as it did. No worries!
Apparently I have to wait a while for the texture pack to run through the system with Curse. So right now I'm just waiting for it to pop up so I can post a link to you guys. Until then:
RETEXTURED:
-all versions of logs and planks
-all colors of wool
-all colors of hardened clay
-iron and coal blocks
-torch
TEXTURE FIXES:
-Fixed health gui
-Removed some old blocks that I know are getting retextured in a future update including: Nether Brick, Netherrack, Cactus, Grass, Dirt, Snow, Coal Block, Diamond Block, Gold Block, Cracked Stone, Mossy Stone Bricks, Mossy Cobblstone, Gold Ore, Iron Ore, Coal Ore, Bedrock, Sponge, Bricks, Stone Slab, Flowers, Melon and all variations of sandstone. These textures were removed because they will almost certainly be rehauled and currently just conflict with the style or new lore of the pack.
OTHER:
-Switched Cobblestone and Stone Brick back again (how it was to begin with), and made the Stone Brick more "refined" to match it's name
-Changed block names where necessary for the above blocks
This is awesome! Just what I was looking for to use on my map. Will definitely be following up on the pack. Btw, will I be able to use the pack for my adventure map? Make available for download w/ the map, maybe add a few custom textures? You'll certainly get credit for the whole pack.

You can use it for your map, and if you choose to do a custom-textured version I'd like to host it.
The texture pack is early in development though, so those custom textures might be good for the pack as a whole. I'm open to suggestions from everyone for blocks. Also, if anyone has a certain block they'd rather see done sooner then I can bump it up to the top of the list. Blocks though, I don't want to get into items or mobs just yet.
A couple 'problems' I noticed are mainly carry-overs from the old pack.
One of the Spiders sides needs an extra pixel or so of texture. It currently leaves an open hole into their body.
And Zombies/Zombie Pigmen have their files stretched to far iirc, leaving them wonky looking.
The stained clay is AWESOME though.
Yeah, I made an effort to take out all the old textures I knew I'd be changing. I forgot to do this with mobs and items, however. I just know that when I get to the mobs they will be completely overhauled, so not much point in fixing them.
Same here.
