Hi. So I made a costume texture pack and I want to change the description for the pack. I open the pack.mcmeta and change the description but it saves as a txt and the original mcmeta file is still there so the description did not change. And if I save the txt file and delete the mcmeta file minecraft can't regognize the texture pack at all. I need help to do this right

What editor are you using? If you're on Windows, I recommend "Notepad++", a freeware text editor geared more towards coding. It's free and super light-weight for all it does. Plus it's not fussy about file extensions so you can set .mcmeta files to open with it and it'll work just fine.
If you're on a different operating system, look for any other simple editor that's geared more towards programming.
Hi. I managed to fix it using Notepad++ but the description won't show up in game
Post the contents of your pack.mcmeta file here please. Just saying "It doesn't work" doesn't give us any real clue was to what's wrong.
Instead, please tell us what it DOES do. No description at all? The default description? What? Knowing what is happening, even if it's not what you want to have happen, is important in being able to diagnose the problem.
