Well, on my resource pack i have created a variant to the slime, but there are some issues that i want to understand more about alternate mob textures.
The first thing i want to understand more is about the "weight" propertie, i understand that it decides how often that variant will spawn and etc, but every tutorial i look about it says that the sum of the weights must be 10, if i put one variant to 1 and the other to 9, the rarier variant have 10% chance to spawn, but it's possible to make it rarier than that? like, one in one hundred or one in one thousand?
the second issue is about the slime in specific, the color of my variant slime is gray, but it kinda doesn't make sense the particle effects that come from in be green, there's not a way to make the particle become gray on the gray slime and still be green for the vannila one?
Sorry about the english, it's not my first language.

Your sources are wrong. Weight works on the basis of "Number / Total of all numbers" as a fraction. What the total number is doesn't matter. So yes, you can have 999999 as the weight for your common variant and 1 as the weight for a rare variant and it should work exactly as expected.

Not that I'm aware of. I think that the particle texture is taken from the Slime Ball item. Unfortunately there's no way to change that association with Random Mobs.

If you hadn't brought it up, I wouldn't have guessed. Your English is better than a lot of Americans who post on this forum. I had no trouble understanding what you had written.
The thing about why i want to make the gray slime be so rare is because i want him to be my pet, so all the difficult involved makes him more special. About the particle, well, if there's no way of making it work, i'm gonna have to deal with that lol. Anyway, thanks again.
Yeah, ik that, but if i use the name.ipattern and change his name to it, his texture will be that one forever. And ik thats kinda silly because that way i can transform a normal green slime into the gray one by just changing his name with a nametag, but if i consider that a cheatting way and don't do that everything will be fine.

Anyway, I hope that information helps you.

The game doesn't save the texture your mob is using, it changes every time you load that chunk.
