I'm working on a resource pack that changes the texture of exclusively enchanted items to make them eaiser to distinguish.
For example, a pickaxe with Silk Touch would look different than a pickaxe with Fortune.
I have everything done except I need to distinguish between riptide and channeling. If the trident has channeling it will appear golden. I have this done for the item icon like in your hotbar or inventory but not for the actual model, if it's in your hand or thrown. The texture is ready, but is it even possible?
The texture is saved as channeling_model.png and here's channeling_model.properties:
But ingame it just shows up as a regular trident!
I saw on another thread that it's impossible to change the trident's model for now, but is it possible to change the texture?
The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
Tridents aren't like other tools or items that CIT would apply to, they use an entity model rather than being a normal flat file. Because of this even if you set up the cit properly it still wouldn't work the way you're hoping. In order to change how the trident looks in your hand or when embedded in the ground you would need to use CEM to do what you want with the way the trident is rendered. That said, if you changed your trident model so it's an item instead of the entity like I did then you would be able to use CIT to change its appearance in every scenario other than when it is embedded in something. How I changed my trident to work like other tools is here:
If you wanted to go that route your properties file would still be a little different from what you have because the trident is a multi-model object so you'd want to specify the texture to use in each instance. I generally change textures based on name rather than enchantment but this works for me to change my trident based on anvil naming:
nbt.display.Name=ipattern:Pride of Zues
Hope that helps. sp614x has had CEM support for the trident on his to-do list pretty much since it was added to the game but one man can only do so much. So, until he finds the time to add new support, this is what we've got. Good luck with your pack.
