I’ve been trying to make my own animal skins for Minecraft for 2 days now and have it so that the animals can spawn with variations so there not all one color and I’ve watched so many videos and walkthroughs and nothing is working at all....I made my own custom skins and named them for example *cow2* and stuff like that and there png images and yet there still not showing up in my game at all.... can someone please just help me...
I’ve been sticking my resource packs in the pack location for me it’s under the %appdata% Minecraft then resources, I’ve downloades resource packs before and they work fine but I tried making my own and trying to make mob skins for my animals for variety and I also make the pack.mcmeta file in notepad and make sure it’s a mcmeta file and not a text file like the tutorials say as well but nothing ever showed up in game😔
if other pack work then open them in winrar and dump your files there replacing the original files of the pack, then select it ingame (it will be named the same9

Honestly, the best way to figure out what you're doing wrong is the actually see the pack. Examining what you've done will likely be faster than playing "guess the mistake" over the forum.
Please carefully read the Forum Rules regarding posted content. Make sure it's free of any files that aren't 100% of your own creation, including any default files (modified or otherwise) that are left in the pack. If after that you can post your pack, please upload it to a file hosting site (Mediafire, Dropbox, or Mega are preferable) and post a download link here.
If you can do that, I can probably tell you what you've done wrong and give you instructions on how to correct the issue.
(Also, don't use Notepad for .mcmeta files. Use Notepad++, which is freeware, and make sure to set "Encoding" to "UTF-8 Without BOM")
Thank you for your help but a kid did get ahold of me and helped me to fix my issue now I just have to figure out a bunch of different things but it’s a start

the order you load the resource packs matter as well. the later ones override the earlier ones.
