I'm working on updating the popular Ant Farm Survival map and the only problem I ran into was creating transparent bedrock. The map hasn't been updated since 1.7 and in 1.8 I think Minecraft's rendering changed so it's much harder to make transparent textures for certain blocks. I do know it's possible without modding because there are resource packs like Ultimate X-ray that make opaque blocks transparent with the use of Optifine.
I'd really like some help with this and I don't think it would be too difficult. You'd have full credit for your work and I'm sure a lot of people would be excited to see such a popular map (2 million+ downloads) updated to the current version of the game. If you're able to help, dm me and we can talk about the specifics.
Thanks, Mihro. I tried barrier blocks but they didn't look right since the ant farm is supposed to look like it's encased in glass and to be honest that's not a compromise I'd like to make since I want this to replicate the old ant farm in every aspect, just be playable in new versions of Minecraft. I would be so, so grateful if you could take a look at this when you don't have your hands full. Really appreciate you replying, thanks.
If I'm understanding this correctly I think you've already replicated the original which is brilliant. The original texture had the borders like yours and lacked the streaks, which is what I was hoping for. Do you think I could get a download and give it a shot?
Again, really appreciate you taking the time to help me out!
Thanks. Bummer deal is there's a bit of a problem. It doesn't seem to behave quite like glass since it only renders block faces that are exposed to air and doesn't show the sides of the actual ant farm pressing up against the bedrock/glass the way you'd expect. Is there a way to fix that? Also, it's not a huge deal but if we bumped the resolution of the border (or in other words the bedrock texture itself) up to 32x how difficult would it be to make it one pixel thinner? Don't want to be nitpicky and if it's a hassle it's not that big of a deal.. just thought I'd ask.
Edit: Thought I had exhausted all my options before making this thread but there are a couple compromises I might be able to make to save you the hassle and make this work. For now don't go busting your back over this and maybe we can catch up on it later after I've tried a couple more things.

If memory serves me, the original did that too. It wasn't a big deal, though, since you'd theoretically never be able to see it from an angle that allowed the player to see the glitch while playing the map. It was only if you cheated and broke out that this problem would be visible.
