Hey, I was wondering if there was any chance that the new Minecraft textures from minecraft.net could be a virus? I'm very protective of this computer and was wondering?
Hey, I was wondering if there was any chance that the new Minecraft textures from minecraft.net could be a virus? I'm very protective of this computer and was wondering?
1. If it's from Mojang's official site then why would it be a virus?
2. I've yet to encounter a virus that can attack from within a .zip file and since you should NEVER unzip a resource pack (for exactly this reason) there's no real danger to your computer.
3. If you're still paranoid, run the file through virustotal.com before installing it. I suggest using Sandboxy to quarantine files you're not sure of since you can just flush the instance if something goes wrong. There's a free version, but it's worth the money for the full one too.
4. And if you're STILL worried... why are you running Windows? Get yourself a Linux build! They're virtually virus proof!

I hope that helps.
Hey, thanks for the help, and really appreciate it!
