does someone know a good tutorial about creating palettes?
I searched but found nothing helpful o.O
I don't know of an tutorials, but here's a few tips I've thought up
I you don't need a colour, don't put it in!
if two colours are similar, combine them
keep with a theme (around the same saturation, etc) when choosing colours
Copy colour ramps onto others with a low transparency. This makes color ramps look better together (ex. butternut [my pack] has yellow copied all over)
use hue shifts, but don't over-do it. Make sure your colour ramps get darker and don't just change colour (ex. yellow->orange->pink->purple, looks weird same brightness)
give the most of the colours you will use the most. Don't give 13.445 pink colours, and only 3 greys! a blue-green ramp and a yellow-green ramp can be seperate, but I prefer to make my lighter greens yellow-ish and my and my darker greens blue-ish in one ramp
If you plan to make your colours snake around and connect to eachother, here are a few tips for that
Don't choose how many colours you need by how much room you have. Spread out, and don't be afraid of placing a colour twice to fill up exra room
I like to connect the dark greens into the dark blues, the light greens into the bright yellows, the dark yellows into the browns, and the dark brown into the dark greys. The dark blues and the dark reds can both connect to a purple section, and pink can come off the purple or one of the reds. lighter reds should tend to be yellowy, and have oranges, and not turn pink.
