With only two weeks left in the contest, I'd like to know how everyone is doing. Is anyone going to submit an entry? Has everyone forgotten about this contest? Would you all like an extension on the deadline?
Honestly just about everything that can possibly go wrong with it has, so if it goes belly-up I won't be surprised. I tried my best to salvage this thing for a friend, but something tells me it's just not going to work out.
Psfht, between a job, new computer, games, holidays, and a bunch of drama/life happenings, even I fell out of it. I could probably get enough done for a challenge, but I'm not sure there's really any competition left.
3 colours per 16x area. I'm not still sure how rules goes at special textures like sun.
The same way it goes everywhere else. In the case of the sun you'll likely only want to use three colors for the entire thing (at most), but if you want you could separate it into 16x16 areas and use three colors for each area.
It seems that there's some interest in this contest still. Once people start posting their progress (to let me know they're serious), I'll move the deadline back to the end of the month. Thank you all so much for your interest in this contest!
@Ampulugator (sorry forgot to quote) Can anybody buy me an electron microscope so I can actually SEE that image of the apple?
I've got a less expensive idea: Learn to Zoom.
On most browsers, holding Ctrl and using your mouse scroll wheel will zoom the page. If that doesn't work, or you have no mouse wheel available to you, the View menu will have zoom options. Ctrl+0 (zero) returns a page to it's default zoom level.
To see the image by itself, just right-click and select "View Image" or something similar depending on your browser. From there, you can zoom in until it's a respectable size. If you're using Firefox and it automatically blurs the images, follow the instructions on This Page to stop that behavior.
That's the thinking man's way of dealing with too-small images!
ANNOUNCEMENT! - Since this contest is somehow still alive and kicking, I hereby extend the deadline to January 31st, 2015. As a reminder, you must post a download for a functioning pack, as well as posting three screenshots (or more if you're doing Forge mod support) on or before that deadline.
Keep up the good work everyone! It all looks amazing, and I for one know I'll have a difficult time deciding which person to back in the judging!
(I'm kinda taking the initiative on the deadline setback thing, so hopefully the rest of the judges are on board with this decision. If not, I'm sure they know how to contact me to voice their grievances.)
