This is why I leave this challenge: you are going to be too minimalistic, and want all makes things looking almost same with those thousand and one rules to do not.
I'm sorry, I thought the title of this was "Simple Pack Showdown 2".
Yes, it's hard for people to restrict themselves from making the same types of textures that they always make. That's why it's a challenge.
Ooookay, so it looks like some of you guys are thinking about this the wrong way.
Let's try this: instead of trying to make 'simple' textures (if you have having trouble understanding what that means), trying focusing your efforts on making graphic design textures instead.
(And yes, Shadow_forge, both of those involve some element of minimalism. It is what it is.)

That's what I was trying to do and you told me it wasn't simple enough. Make up your mind!
I think I'm going to give this another go after lunch today. We'll see if I can do any better with a 32x canvas and FishyMint's palette.
This is an simple pack showdown, so you really should stick to the rules, otherwhise you have to go to an cartoon pack showdown or pixel art showdown or something like this.
*long, drawn out sigh*
I'm not changing anything. I'm just trying to rephrase it in a way people might understand better.
"Fall of Autumn" Daily - Day 1: Roofed Forrest Biome
I actually don't like the autumn season much... but I was inspired by FishyMint's palette and a couple of my favorite Halloween movies which I watched today while doing this. Speaking of, for how few blocks I got done I feel bad that this took me half a day to churn out... even if I was watching movies while doing it.
Critiques are appreciated. In particular, I'd like to know if I actually managed to achieve "simple" this time. If not... nuts to it I give up. If so... YAY!
Edit: Re-uploaded pic because I'm a big dumb-head who forgot to remove the accursed biome coloring from the side grass.
Alvoria, I think it looks pretty nice. My only gripe is that the sidegrass completely doesn't match the top in color, it's way too dark. I think overall it could definitely count as simple. The stone in particular has a great design.

It's funny because it's exactly the same color and only looks darker because of the fake contrast the game imposes. I suppose I could remove it from the block models... but that's a lot of work for very little benefit. Besides, I don't want to go totally cartoony with this one. I'll save that for "Brightling" (the pack that my previous attempt may become if I ever get around to finishing it) .

Thanks! I hope everyone else agrees with you. I really want to make something in this style and compete in this contest!
Also, I really like your furnace. The stonework is very interesting in the way it interconnects. I like it.
Well, you could just brighten the side grass in the texture itself, I think that would make it look better. Removing it from the block models probably isn't a good idea since it requires a ton of work and many files to be changed.
Glad you like the furnace though
And I almost forgot before, but here it is: The Return of the Mad Dispenser
This is an simple pack showdown, so you really should stick to the rules, otherwhise you have to go to an cartoon pack showdown or pixel art showdown or something like this.
That's how I feel as well.. but somewhere down the line the rules changed from:
Use the pallet, don't add colors, don't add in middle ground colors to blend, and if using AA it must be using the pallet.
To:
Doing whatever you want with as many colors as you want.
Frankly if that's the case, it should have been stated at the start instead of a change part way through after everyone started based on those old rules from the first showdown. Pallets should have been removed, and just let people do their own thing with as many colors as they wanted from the start in a simple style.
Although doing such does take away from the basic and simple idea that started the simple pack showdown to begin with.

I stand corrected. It's darker because I'm a fool and forgot to remove the accursed biome coloring from the side grass.
Ok youre right.
Dont take me wrong, Angelos palette is really great, but there are just 2-3 colors missing.
This is my wool. In my opinion it looks great. But how should i present purple wool?
Edit: do i get "minuspoints" if i make the purple one like this?
I know what you mean. I'm loving FishyMint's palette, but once this contest is over I'm going to add a grayscale so fast it won't even be funny. A couple of brighter shades of... well... every color to be honest will also be required before my pack is ready for publication.
My advice would be to just skip over what you can't do if you're running into color problems. We're required to have "most" of the 1.8 blocks finished, not all of them. I have no idea what "most" means in terms of hard numbers, but I'd find it hard to believe that we'll be kicked out for missing a wool or two here or there.
And since I'm not sure which one of those is supposed to be your purple... I'm going to say that, no, it doesn't work.
"Fall of Autumn" Daily - Day 2: Swamp Biome and Flowers
I was a bit busy today with actually doing work that gets me money for a change and a doctor's appointment. Even with all of those distractions I managed to pull off 33 new textures today. Most of them are just flowers and plants and easy stuff, but I got a few substantial blocks like melons and pumpkins finished.
And don't even ask about why the water is still default in that screenshot. I'm not touching that until I absolutely have to.
Critiques are appreciated.
Edit: So I just did some math and I really only need to do 12.8 textures per day in order to get all of the blocks done before the deadline, so at my 2-day average of 33.5 I'm doing pretty well. Of course I won't be able to complete all of the blocks in a decent sort of a way owing to the lack of important things like, you know, the color purple. Hopefully the exact total required to qualify is less than 374 block tiles.

I love it so far! Nice to see someone running with the theme of fall/Halloween.

I like those a lot, very unique.
Looking good

There you go! Original, unique, perfect, AND outside of your comfort zone.
The second log top looks better.
On another note, revised wool:
That's the first time I tried wool in that style.
Putting the CENDENT back in transcendent!

Anyways, some more stuff from me:
Furnace
And birch planks and mushrooms.

Let's try this again:
"The Return of the Mad Dispenser" sounds like a crappy 50s B-movie that I'd love to watch because I'm the kind of nerd who's into that sort of thing.
Also, your texture looks good.
Clockwise from top left: Big Oak, Jungle, Acacia, Spruce, Birch, and Oak.
I'm also thinking of redoing the things on top of the grass. They're too pointy.
EDIT: I fixed it. Clover everywhere!
According to Rule #3 if you switch palettes you have to start from scratch.
If you're any real way into the challenge changing palettes isn't really an option. That's part of the challenge, I think.
