@Teknician I don't really like the other textures as much as that plank. They just lack the same amount of depth, they look pretty flat imo. They are not bad, just does not have the same depth as the plank texture. The glowstone and cobble texture have the same highlights etc across all of the "bricks" None of them are slightly darker so that they end up in the background and none of them are slightly brighter, to bring them to the foreground. I also feel that the glowstone and cobblestone don't make use of the 64x as well as the plank texture does. They just feel... predictable, unlike the plank texture.
Is that a bone block or a birch block on the right there?
They both look great though!
@Irish: I can't tell what's wrong with it from that report but I fixed a similar issue with mine by deleting folders inside the pack one at a time and testing it each time. It took a while but I eventually narrowed it down and found what was causing the issue. If you manage to narrow it down but are still unsure you can ask here and I'm sure we could help figure it out.
I love the jungle planks, and I'm so glad I caught your stream!
Here's all of the planks I've made so far:
L->R,T->B: Birch, Oak, Spruce, Jungle.
I changed the Oak and Spruce to be shaded more consistently with the Jungle planks. I'm still iffy on the birch, but shadows on one side are a no-no, because it's a continuous plank idea.
These are some really nice textures, and you've made an interesting choice with the dark jungle planks. For the birch planks, you could give them a solid highlight along the top, so that it looks like they have sloped edges.
