The leaves look sort of boxy yet soft. Perhaps you could forgo the top layer and instead add another 'triangle' inside facing up?
Wasn't expecting feedback on the leaves since I did those ages ago but OK. Feedback is always welcome, even if I'm not expecting it!
I think I kinda know what you're getting at, but it doesn't really work well. In fact if you're thinking what I think your thinking, it's basically what I tried first. The reason I went with the flat top is because with an angular top it either had to go above the block's space (which messed with the Fast Graphics setting), or else allowed a lot of the tree trunk to be seen through the leaves which looked ugly. Particularly at the top of the naturally generated trees.
Considering that the leaves are supposed to be a block, I'm actually pretty happy with this as a compromise. Still, if you can show me in some way what you're thinking so I'm certain of the direction you're proposing then I'll definitely give it a shot.

Another fine cross-post from my own thread for maximum critique-getting power!
I tweaked the presents rather extensively and turned ender pearls, eyes of ender, slime balls, and magma creams into ornaments. I also re-did the colors on the presents and changed the wool, stained glass, and hardened clay colors for green, lime (now mint), red, and yellow (now gold) to be more Christmas-y. Finally obsidian (and obsidian accessories) are going to be white. Coupled with the gold nether star, this makes the beacon a rather large tree-topper. I'm tempted to re-do the entire model just to be better at this one function.
Let me know what you think! Feedback is always desired!
That's... vaguely disturbing. I'm not sure I want to touch those things to throw them. They look really good, though. I'd love to see them animated with pulsing energy traveling down the arteries. That would be awesome!

I really love those ornaments! Shiny objects in pixel stuff obsesses me!
Thought this was interesting... lineup of my cobblestone iterations over the past year and a half!
Starting with pre-release cobble and ending with my current design that I'm 90% sure will be the final one (to be fair, the last four were only made in the course of a month or so). What I find most interesting is how the hue has shifted over time.
Just goes to show that some textures take a LONG time to get right. Don't be afraid to re-do the same block over and over again until it looks right!
Here's some random work done for a post apoco pack that I wanted to fiddle with (the armor, and mobs are my work, the rest is mineout as a base) http://imgur.com/a/NwEt2/all The rest are in this album
Hi, I am a brand-new newbie to resource packs and to this forum (please tell me if I have the wrong idea about anything). I would like to apply to join the union!
Here is a link to my thread. Here is a screenshot of my resource pack:
If I join the union, I would like a gold level emblem.
I hope I've got the right idea here! The OP is a bit difficult to understand because the formatting is messed up (has the forum recently been updated or something?), so I apologise if I've missed anything or made a mistake.

The Union has long since been dead, anyone can come and go now.
At least you pack includes simple details and minor shading unlike other simple packs. However, the outlines on the blocks create an ugly, unnecessary grid pattern.

Ah okay, I see.
The grid pattern is my preference, in fact! I like that it clearly shows the distinctions between blocks, but I know it's not everyone's favourite style.
Erm... do you realize there are 2 (possibly more) spots there that don't move and stick out painfully? One is on the left... it's small+sharp square and visible for a large portion of the animation. Also, is this for flowing lava, still, or both? I personally dislike 'flowing' still animations, I'd imagine many people do.

Yeah, most people don't like that, especially for natural blocks. They might tolerate it on things like ore storage blocks, orientables (like logs), etc... but things like grass/dirt/stone most don't want something that completely destroys any shred of Minecraft being a natural world by putting a perfect box around it.
I mean, you aren't putting perfect boxes around your items or even some of the blocks like sugarcane and leaves have their own design, so why plaster a square around other natural blocks? Frankly, it just feels like the 'easy' way out. It's not like you have to completely destroy the style to make things better, just bend it a little to make it more appealing.
For example, instead of a box on the log texture, keep the vertical lines but then remove the horizontal ones. This will make an outline that is oriented with the log and thus makes a visually pleasing shape on log beams.
Grass/dirt/stone you should get rid of the outline altogether and just use designs... and if you can spend a little time figuring it out (hint) you can set up some random textures with some blocky flowers on grass, rocks in dirt, and dirt in rocks... or you know just different designs on them like clusters in different spots.

Thanks for the crit. I may fix it eventually, I was just really glad to be done with the animation as it was quite a drag to create.
As for the lava type, it's just "lava." There is no distinction between flowing or still lava in classic. It does mean that this animation gives a "drifting" effect, but I personally find it acceptable.
However, the outlines on the blocks create an ugly, unnecessary grid pattern.
I think a grid pattern can be embraced and used as a design element for a pack. After all, I adopted and adapted this pack, and like the results, though Lithos takes most of my attention.
Though in this case, I can't say it has been done in an especially artful way. There's way to much reliance on the 3x3 grid of squares for the texture of a block -- used for everything from wool, end-stone, sand, gravel, and sponges. Also I think you need to decide on what determines the outline contrast. Some blocks have strongly contrasting outlines, while others are subtile, there doesn't seem to be any sense to it.
Finally, I'm not generally a fan of pallettes, but for this kind of minimalism, having a color scheme could greatly improve the cohesiveness of the whole.
Just made a few simple changes. I've darkened the dirt. Also the water texture is more transparent and has a slightly different colour:
Definitely prefer the old dirt. Dirt and soil from the same location usually are fairly similar. High contrast between dirt and rock always looks harsh to me.

Especially for super-common blocks like cobble. It doesn't just have to look good. It needs to look good with a lot of other blocks.
My cobble has had more than a few itterations, and really needs another tweak.

Definitely the best take on vanilla I've ever seen. Looks awesome, goodly, nice work!
