Finally getting around to experimenting some not-so-faithful stained glass.
Which treatment do you like, (if any) and why?
Ooh. Are you going to use some CTM to do larger pattern work on it? I really like the two-tone (or three, or five, or however many colors) glass though.

I'll probably do vertical CTM, since the number of files is still reasonable. You can see an attempt in the cyan of the upper middle-- the panes connect across block boundaries, but i don't know if i like that, since there is less color variation than for instance in the purple.
I've never seen brown mortar in real life. It is an interesting choice, because accurately colored mortal can make low res bricks obnoxiously contrasty. I might desaturate the mortal a bit to split the difference, to make it say "brick" more clearly without raising the contrast too much.
Whooo, haven't been in this thread in a while. Hoping to get some feedback on my flowers! If I get replies, I wanna get some feedback on my pack in general, if you lovelies don't mind too much!
Now, my rose bush is kind of half-assed and very questionable, so don't be too mean, lol.
Here are my roses, pink tulips, and peonies (I absolutely ADOOOOOOORE my peonies! They look so fruggin' amazing.):
Lilacs, Red Tulips, Hydrangeas (formerly Alliums), and Azaleas (formerly Houstonias):
Sunflowers:
Poppies:
All Tulips:
Daisys and grass:
And my dandelions!:
ah silly me! I forgot the orchids! Well, my Bull Belles that used to be orchids, lol.
Yeah, I was trying to avoid the whole "obnoxious high-contrast" thing that can happen with white mortar. I'm not super satisfied as it stands, but how's this?
I did a few of the things people suggested to the planks, here's how they look now.
I also made some stone.
On a different note, I've been working on stained clay for my main pack. I went for a kind of stacked shale look, based on the environment where it's found in the wild. It was a look I wanted to use for a long time, even before the mesa biomes became a thing. I've only got the one color for now, and I want to make a separate CTM image for the top. Any thoughts on it so far?

Pretty neat tiling, and cool idea. The only thing that might ruin it is that clumpy lighter part near the top that fades into the darker part, but the CTM sheet might help that.

I feel like it's a little too pinky. Try going a tan?

I noticed that when I was taking the screenshot. It makes a pretty nasty tiling error, and I'll definitely be fixing it.
@Antiqua: They all look an awful lot like photographs. If they are, did you take them yourself? You've actually managed to get them to look pretty good, which is unusual for a pack made that way. Though, the lighting is a bit inconsistent. Some look like they're in direct sunlight, others like they're in shadow.

Most of them are, and yeah, I've tried taking the sunlight off most of them so they seem more vibrant, but it seems I was mostly unsuccessful. lol. And no, they are stock pictures either purchased or free.
That's where the whole "super high contrast" bit starts to come in, which doesn't really meld with my pack. But how's this for a medium?
hummm. Still seems a bit too a like to me, but then again, I like contrasts and bright colours, if you can't tell from my screenshots, lol. It looks nice if that's the look you're going for.

-snip-
Try beige mortar, that is, base the mortar on yellow/orange instead of red.
More progress on the sand and logs. Old on the top, new on the bottom.
I tried to add a highlight on the sand, but I wasn't really sure where to put it, so, yeah...I don't like it.
@samohtj
That stone looks to unsaturated. Maybe give it a slightly brown tinge or something?
Also, I'm contemplating changing my name to Drazile. Partly because I won't have a number on the end, partly because some people think I got the name from Bagukan and other things that I've never heard of (which I didn't), and partly because I think it sounds cooler and more original.
@Dragonoid
I think the highlight should go on the edge of the shadow, atleast that's how i made my sand.--> Do to the palette i think the highlight is too bright in yours and it looks good even without it imo, so i dont think it's necessary. I think the old wood is better though.
Yeah, I think I'll just leave the sand as is, I think it looks fine without the highlight IMO. As for the wood, I think I like the new one more, even if the shapes are slightly crystaline.

Yeah, that doesn't really work too well... What would look much better i think is if you tried following along the edge of the dark shading on the side with the hard line, use lower opacity, maybe 80% or so then dither outward decreasing the opacity with each row. Having dark and light meeting like that gives the effect of sharp windswept dunes.
Final brick texture. Going to move onto new textures now, might start playing with CTM soon. Here's a download of the textures I've got right now. Experiment and give feedback if you wish.

On a side, opinions on my brick?

The mortar or the bricks? The bricks are currently an orange-red. If I went with a tan on the mortar, wouldn't it basically look like the first image?
Yeah the mortar, and no, it wouldn't. I'm talking a light tan.

How about reversing it and adding an increased shadow instead of a highlight?
I wonder how it would look if you removed the mortar completely and did the hard highlight vs shadow style.
Rotate it in increments of 45 degrees only, keep interpolation to none. That will preserve the detail almost fully.
Never rotate the same image twice, it loses detail each time. If you rotate it 45 degrees, then want to rotate it again, get a fresh copy.
