The problem is that the texture itself doesn't show up ingame, I have made a texture and put it in the "item" folder (not the "items" folder) that's where I found the texture in minecraft.jar so I suppose that's the folder it goes in in my pack.
Does the top pixel have to match, does the texture not work if it doesn't?
The "item" folder does not exist anymore, the chest textures are now in ~/textures/entity/chest/. Make sure you're looking in an updated .JAR.
If the lid pixels don't match, they'll Z-fight. If the pixels are different enough, you'll see it.....

It’s the unpleasantness of the system that keeps me out.
I’d rather be in, in a good system. That’s where my discontent comes from:
being forced to choose to stay outside.
My advice: Just keep movin’ straight ahead.

You realize a ton of things have changed since 1.5 or earlier? Very few resources have the same name or are in the same place.
I realize that now, but the thing is that I was looking through an updated version of the minecraft.jar.
I think you're mistaken. You must have been looking through a different .JAR, such as beta 1.7.4.... The "item" folder has been disbanded, and is now under "entity" along with mob textures. The "terrain" folder has also been removed, and contents added to the "environment" folder. The "items" folder is no longer in the "gui" folder, and the "armor" folder is now nested in a "models" folder.Tons of stuff has also been renamed.
Here's an image of how it looks on my end:
The converters (you'll probably have to use the vanilla one and MCpatcher one, and pick and choose the working parts) should update most of the stuff.

The heart looks more like a flame.
They looks kinda like bells. I wouldn't want to ring one, though...
I updated Drifting Breeze, and one of the new things in it is random CTM on the carved sandstone, with 44 different Minecraft faces (and one blank).
Top left are mostly Mojang members (and C418), top middle are famous YouTubers (I wanted to keep them to a minimum), top right are my friends IRL who don't play Minecraft anymore ( ), most of the bottom half is people from the forums (mostly people who frequent the TAU, including me), and at the very right on the bottom are some default mobs.

Bottom row, second from the left... i think it's me

Why was I half expecting to be on there? Nobody knows me here and I don't think anyone knows my skin anyway.

Silly me :/
Well, I kinda rushed and looked through the two most recent pages at the time to get ideas of who to make. Also why Seradicus and peytonisgreat weren't in the first wave. But what's that, on the horizon?
As Deonyi suggested, I did more mobs. Whether I'll do mobs from my pack, I'm not so sure. Also, peytonisgreat, Jeffrey94, drfrozenfire and lo0katmyname (that is actually Seradicus's MC name).
I should probably make the cracks around the edges different on each, but there's about 70 varients now, and I'm lazy
I uploaded Mist to PMC, in hopes of maybe having more traffic and more downloads for it, and my thread on the site here gets removed for "Stolen Content." Like, what? Before I released it I made sure everything in the pack was my own texture, 100%. I don't get this...
Has anybody else had this issue? Is there any way for this to be fixed?

The official Bluebird continuation is underway! Please come and help keep the pack alive!
I like most of them. In my opinion the shape of the iron ore is a bit odd (too crystalline) and the shape of the diamond ore is too lumpy for such a valuable thing. If you would swap them it would make more sense to me. Are you going to make random textures for all of them, btw?
Hmm, good idea, I'll try swapping them over now!
Also yes, I already have a variant for most and I'm just going to finish the rest now. I think I'll have more variants for the more common ores like coal since they're seen everywhere.
So, I forgot to mention this earlier, but I think I had a good idea.
I make the fog a deep blue color in order to simulate atmospheric depth, I think it turned out well
Color still needs some adjustment to better simulate atmospheric depth, but I think it is a good idea overall
This is a good idea, I think I might try to make a fog that matches my skybox to help blend it into the horizon a bit better too. Could work really well!
Also moo, I swapped diamond and iron, looks much better now:
I think I want to make some nicer ctm for my stone now. I think my old one is just a biiiiiit outdated. And by a bit I mean a lot.
EDIT: Also for some reason peyt, I keep thinking your logs are wider than 16x. Every time I see them I just think 'gee, that's one wide log'. Don't ask me why, I think I'm starting to lose my mind...

Very nicely done

Exactly.
Here is an example of real atmospheric depth:
Like I said, I still need to do some color adjustments before it looks 100% correct, but as it is right now, I am happy with the result.
