Wow, i'm glad that it did work for someone after all
Recomend adding under the skipe bit: '"Don't tell people to email you or send a PM for more info' (maybe not in those words but you get the idea)
that is just as much of a **** move as asking for details over skipe.

Thank you for this guide! I'll admit, I was one of those "idiots", I had no idea what I was doing. I think my entire request needs to be redone, on Different levels. Thank you for the very blunt, very helpful advice.

"OPEN YOUR DOOR OR I SHALL OPEN YOUR WALL! HISSSSS!"
The only criticism that I can really muster for this thread is that, even when someone is good enough to go back and re-state their request after reading this thread, requests still rarely get done even when they're reasonable ones. I've done a couple... but ultimately it doesn't seem to matter how people make requests. They rarely seem to get done no matter what.
I think we're just not a request-friendly community.
Although, that said, I've found myself much more likely to pick up a request when it follows this guide. Even if progress is slow in bridging the gap between request makers and artists, it's a step in the right direction.

Keep in mind that what people ask for the most are texture packs. And a texture pack is never a "reasonable" request.
Mod textures or single mobs/items are in the minority. Which is a shame because I'd love to fill in some of these *
I think we're just not a request-friendly community.
No one is obliged to take up requests. In the end, sometimes the idea just isn't interesting enough, or people are too busy. Nothing you can do about it.

Which is precisely the point of this guide. Sometimes a requester has a genuinely fun idea, but fails to communicate the necessary information. Had to skip several interesting requests because of that.
* - That's right everyone - If you need textures for your mod, I'm open to requests. As long as you keep to this guide.

No, I wasn't talking about texture pack requests. For heaven's sake, I'm going on the third year of working on mine. Granted it was "done" at the start of year two but...
But yea, I was talking about mod textures and little one- or two-off requests.

True, true. I was just musing that it's a shame that genuinely reasonable requests that are posted well still get ignored. I pass over requests like that, usually because they're uninteresting, so I'm as guilty as anyone else of this.

This might be a good time to ask a question that's been bothering me for a while now - Why do so few mod makers request textures? Do they post in the modding section?
Where do the largest mods get their textures? Does the creator ask their friends to make them, or do they make them on their own? I'm mostly thinking about mods whose textures are not exactly easy on the eye, yet are still popular despite that. (Industrial Craft, I'm looking at you).

I think most mods have their own official site/forum, (i.e. http://www.industrial-craft.net/) where a community contributes. For the less known mods, it could just be the mod author making their own.
The credits of IC give usernames, but not quite real sources of where these people came from:
LAST BUT NOT LEAST, CREDITS
First of all, many thanks to the entire MCP team. Without their compiler, i couldn't have even started the mod.
As well, many thanks to Risugami, as his ModLoader is the most essential tool for anyone wanting to create clean modifications.
As well, i would like to thank personally...
Feanturi - for being this mod's prime spriter
Bamboori - for spriting whenever this mod's prime spriter (won't call names here) is going lazy
ZeuX - for helping me when i was to stupid to understand the MCP-Readme
Risugami, Shockah, 303, SoundManiac - for helping me to grasp the incredible functions the ModLoader awards to the knowing user
TehKrush - Helped me implementing my first new Block and his PlasticCraft mod was used as a reference by me, quite often (Take note: I did not copy any of his code, though (besides the one he sent me XD))
OrangeAngel - for his small, but awesomely effective tutorial on how to implement new ores into chunk generation
Flan - for the idea to add the treetap as an easy-obtainable, but very-uneffective way of gaining rubber
Seronis - Pointed me towards the lines of code i ned to complete my Solar Panel
303 - Prevented me from modifying a baseclass and showed me a different solution, when i wanted to implement the Mine Drill
CrazyErik - Made some neat screenshots of some crafting recipes while i was too lazy busy to make them, as well as providing the sprite for the Reinforced Stone Door
Jamy - Sprite for the Jetpack
Axor`dm - for prowiding some of the crafting pics
SmallDeadGuy, BlackMoon - for providing/developing the (idea of a) code to reduce Luminator-lags.
Sorha2 - A couple of neat tricks to fix some SMP GUI-issues
FindSounds.com & www.pacdv.com - Providing a few free sound samples i've used
Thanks ya all guys, you helped quite a lot!
Here's an idea: Show your work. If you are requesting a colaborative helping thing, than people will want to know what you've done so far. Like this:http://www.minecraft...-resource-pack/
Added to the OP. Wasn't sure how to make it into a point, so i just copied it over

Hi everybody, I'm making a texture pack and I'm wondering if someone could work on it with me. I would be grateful!
I'd like for someone to create a Egyptian Styled resource pack for me and the community. I prefer it would be 32x or 64x. I'f not im fine with a 16x as long as it has a lot of ctm. I found the perfect music for the theme: http://c418.bandcamp...inal-soundtrack
So please, if there is already an egyptian resource or even texture pack that i can convert to 1.6.2, tell me please.
