If you're like me you like music. If you're like me you also like Minecraft. And if you're like me you have some favorite songs you would like in Minecraft, and you might be wondering "How can I do that?". Well, here is how.
Choose your twelve favorite songs
Convert the songs to .ogg format. There are online converters, or you can download a program.
Click the spoiler for audacity instructions.
Make sure the songs are in .mp3 format
Open the file using Audacity
Hit export
Where it says "Save as type" choose "Ogg Vorbis Files"
Press "Save"
Press "Ok"
After all twelve songs ar in .ogg format, rename them with the following twelve names:
Place the songs in a new folder called "records"
Place "records" in a new folder called "sounds"
Create another new folder called "lang"
Open a notepad
Add the following lines, with the track names after each =
Save the notepad as "en_us.lang"
Place it in "lang"
Place "sounds" and "lang" in a new folder called "minecraft"
Place "minecraft" in a new folder called "assets"
Make a notepad that says:
{
"pack": {
"pack_format": 1,
"description": "Replaces the records with my twelve favorite songs"
}
}
Save the notepad as "pack.mcmeta"
Create a .zip file called "Favorite Songs Pack": right-click, hover over "New" then click "Compressed (Zipped) Folder"
Place "pack.mcmeta" and "assets" in the .zip file
Optional: Create a 128x128 image called "pack.png" and place it in the .zip file
Place "Favorite Songs Pack" in the minecraft resource pack folder
Run minecraft and choose the pack, listen to a record, and enjoy
Note: Since you have unique tastes and most music is copyrighted, these packs should not be put up for download, and be careful before using it on YouTube.
I'm glad for a tutorial like this. My friends are always suggesting I make music packs for them and put them up on adfly, and while I can easily explain to them why that's NOT gonna happen, I have a harder time explaining how to do it themselves.

It should also be added for those who don't have Audacity (for whatever reason) that an online converter can work just as well. I've had pretty mixed experiences there, but for .mp3 to .ogg it works fine. MIDI, on the other hand... >>

Learned to use spoilers, so I added audacity instruction in a spoiler and changed the note to mentioned that there are other programs.
Chirp.ogg doesn't seem to work when replaced using a resource pack, yet all the other songs do. Does this problem occur on your end too, or is it just me? I'm using 1.7.2.

Added, with a note about YouTube as well.
Thanks, I hoped this would be helpful to someone.

It works fine on my end. It is all lowercase?
