This pack has been worked on for quite some time, I have worked on it off and on for about a year prior to making it's thread. That time was spent working on ideas and execution as well as making the textures themselves. I have made many texture packs before, and it has become a hobby of mine, but few of the packs I make I feel are release ready. This pack was one I liked and one I thought from early on that I would release. I have made 16x16 packs before, and found that I feel so restricted in creativity with so few pixels that I can't keep working on one for long without getting burnt out. I have also worked on 32x32 packs, but only to find that being on the bridge between pixelated and realistic textures made me yearn for more space for quality. So here I am at 64x64, satisfied with the realism I can fit into each texture, and with the pride I get when I finish each texture to my satisfaction.
This pack originally started from a suggestion. I came across a topic in which someone was asking about performance. I suggested they get a low resolution pack in addition to other actions to increase fps. I decided that I would help out more by dropping a link to a 4x4 pack, but when I checked the "tiny textures" category in the Texture Pack central, I found no 4x4 texture packs! If one is looking to increase fps, 4x4 is the lowest resolution you can get while still being able to recognize the blocks, and that said, I figured that the Texture Pack Central, and perhaps the forum (though I haven't thoroughly checked) was lacking a good fps boosting pack with that bit of recognizable texture that a 4x4 pack could achieve. I started to work on it, and after starting with the stone, dirt and sand, found that I had a quaint little pattern or style started. I continued with it and managed to finish the entire terrain.png. The terrain.png is the soul of a texture pack, yet I have always run into problems along the way and never finished one. This pack, though it's 4x4 pixels, does have a completely finished terrain.png that I can look back on and be happy with. I have used the best colours I could find while considering the point of making everything recognizable, so I hope that my choice is decent.
Similar to the original, genuine 4x4 pack, this version of Homelands®
is meant for people who enjoy the smooth yet pixely feel of the original pack, but don't need the FPS boost, so they can use this version that has fixed cactus, bed, anvil, torch, redstone torch, sapling, and more, with the benefit of a 16x16 canvas size.
Well, I've had some packs come and go for a few years now, and I just recently started releasing them. My cell shaded pack was my very first, released in early-mid 2011, then I moved from it. I have released several since then, but the first one I moved to after the cell shaded pack was what I currently call Redefined. The pack, formerly Block Plus, is a 128x128 pack I started in mid 2011, and I have been doing things slowly and carefully, and work has been off and on, but it is getting into a late stage of development.
This pack was set on the side for a long time, I yearned for the freedom of shading and texturing ability in a 64x64 pack. I would work on 64x64 packs that never worked out, and start new ones in their place, but this pack was work I didn't get rid of. It was in my Texture Packs folder for near to 12 months, but I did each texture, each ore, each leaf and each blade of grass with care to make it look as beautiful as I could make it look myself. It has truly been a year since I started progress on this pack, time which will be piled higher as this thread is posted, and I couldn't keep myself from posting it any longer. I ran out of excuses to put it off, so I worked on the screenshots and thread images, and finally released it.
Faithful to the original square theme, this pack brings a new feeling of realism while maintaining the blocks themselves. The shading brings out the true shape of each block with clear and clean shading along with semi-realistic textures below.
Using new-found texturing methods and styles, I have started progress on a 128x128 pack. This pack is focused on the smooth, simplistic side of nature, and brings forth a clean and crisp texture. I somewhat agree with others that HD photo-realistic packs look wrong in Minecraft, which is why the style of HD pack I bring you is smooth and fitting into the game, textures made to look right in your builds, not just in Photoshop. I plan to continue this, and just so I don't get side tracked and end up abandoning this project, I am opening it up for critique and encouragement, and anything of the sort, so I don't just forget this and move on from what will become a style of HD pack I actually like. I will not have any downloads right now, and I don't expect any in the too near future, but I will get this pack far enough to have a development version available. Hopefully by that point, I will be able to fix any problems and bring my textures to their highest potential for everyone to enjoy. With that said, this pack is shown to the public for any comments, compliments, critiques, and complaints that you can think of. So if you could, please leave any feedback on the pack to help me improve my textures along the way while I work to complete it!
In this thread, you can find a list of packs organized into themes. Are you building a medieval castle and need a fitting pack? Want your world photo-realistic for a lifelike experience? You have stumbled across the right thread! In the thread is a list of all submitted packs organized into theme based categories, so you can have the pack you need in a flash. I have found myself needing a pack of specific themes for many different reasons, but ending up searching page after page for a pack that's "just right" for the reason of needing it. So, I have created this so not just I, but everyone looking for packs can get their theme in the right resolution with no hassle!
Nice HUB! I would add more padding between images though.
I... am not quite sure what you mean by that. (I do things but don't know what they're called. I just recently figured out what dithering meant. ). But if you mean spacing between the images and text, I'll do so. I wasn't sure, because I was worried the blocks would look too big and push the text down too far, so I put the text on the next line.
Thanks!

Padding out, means filling out the space a bit more G. Maybe a small collection of screens per pack (can be clickable thumbnails).
Something a little more visual to pull people in and click the links
That's how i would read it, and give similar advice.
Great to see the Hub up though
Thanks.
How to do it though... The type of clickable thumbnails that I've seen most are shrunk versions of the image with text on the top that you can't even read. Don't want that. Maybe I could have the clickable images look like the face of a block, and clicking each would show an in-game preview focused on that block. Like having a stone texture, and when you click on it, it would show an in-game screenshot of a cave or something.
... Or maybe I'm trying too hard to make it look "fancy"...
I think what is meant by SJS is to have the image at the top of each pack be a link.
That would use images already on the thread, so it would be cool, but wouldn't really improve the thread itself much. I think I have an idea, though. I will just try to get it together. That might take a bit.

Just a little something, My brother (computer science university student, brag, brag...) is helping me to make my own site for various things including Minecraft related stuff. I will probably have a hub for all my threads, and show texture previews, updates, announcements, and more there when it's up, so I'll add a link to it when it's up. Don't expect it soon, though. I can't get his help until he's actually home.
I added some dividers to make the OP a little more organized, and you might notice the new texturepack widget below Serene Scape. I intend to add one of these below all packs. Thanks Curse for making that! So much simpler.

I uploaded all my packs to Curse mainly for this purpose, but now I'm glad I did, even if this wouldn't have come out right.
I need to add in a space for my Bump Mapping tutorial... Do you think I should add a subtitle for texture packs/misc or something? I'm thinking that would be too much clutter...

ME LIKEY! MUST DOWNLOAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! do you do snapshot support?
Thanks!
I'm planning on making snapshot support for the most popular/latest ones, being Definitance, Homelands, and Serene Scape, and the others should follow shortly, but I don't personally use the snapshots, so when I do, there might be a few bugs.

Just a note, some of you would have seen my bump mapping tutorial, and my Native Lands pack is previewed, but, in the interest of making a visually appealing icon for both, I will take a little time to get it to look good, then add a section to the OP for both when I release a beta version of Native Lands.

I figured it was odd and not right to not have one of my packs listed because it is a variation of another, so I fixed that and gave it a space. The Homelands Simulated 4x4 is now featured.
