Looking at the xbr type filters, I noticed something: they had the same weird style that minecraft faithful packs had.
I decided to put it to the test.
I ran a filter on my alternative terrain.png and got this ( Note that I ran the filter on the entire pack, doing it individually would create much better tiling. ):
Notice the bizzare similarity to some faithful packs? Just use this fither, and then desize the image back
to 32x32. Just something interesting I found. Any comments?
Also note that the effect was applied to the whole terrain rather than individual blocks, which would make textures blend only with themselves rather than the occasional other texture.
The other filters also produce similar faithful effects. If you happen to spot a texture pack in the same, painted-like or swirly manner, it may use this effect or a second one in this pack.

Drop .dll in thar.
Also, introducing peytonisgreat faitfulk resurrection!
( Slight Transparency Screw Up ) Follow Instructions Below to avoid the magic wanding of white!
Also, I forgot to mention something: your going to want expand your canvas size by 300% before apply the effect.
Also, guys check out the other filters on your texture packs, they produce some pretty cool results.
Right-click on the folder and select properties. Go to the Security tab. Select the group that you're in (must be {computername}/Administrators for this to work). Edit the permissions for that group by clicking the Edit button next to "To change permissions, click Edit". Give yourself full control, and save. Now try it.
If you don't have admin privileges on your computer... ask whomever does to do this for you.
THE BEST TEXTUREPACK EVER. IT'S TOTALLY NOTHING LIKE THE ORIGINAL
terrain.png: (it's huge)
Yes, this post is a joke.
P.S - You really need to make a tutorial, I couldn't get rid of the gray background without making the image fully transparent. The instructions you've provided are a bit vague.
I can honestly see this filter being used in moderation, but it seems like it's been overused to the point that it's useless to even try. That's the point.

Vattic's looks legitimate however, I'm thinking about the other faithful-style / hd versions of 16x texture pack ones.
Too bad my alternative terrain makes you cry
This is my alternative terrain.
It's an edit of the default. It changes a few things I don't like.
Such as sad pumpkins and ugly jungle planks.
Compare this terrain to the 16x version here on edited textures:

I only edited a few however, so you can still see the effects on default textures.
Also, just a little side note, I measured the terrain and found out that the 'texture pack' I made is... 64x!
A perfect default resolution.

EDIT: AND NOW, FAITFULK LIES:
Minecraft, can you please 'faithfulfy' (if thats a verb) my terrain? I would like to see what it looks like.
Thanks,

And when I press continue, nothing happens.
EDIT: I got it working, but there's all these options and I don't know which one to use.
My wip 32x texture pack.

Use XBR 4x ( No Blend )
Try out the others for other cool effects.
