So here is a practice Emerald Ore texture. It's not the same as the other ores, and I haven't quite got the shine (sparkle?) down right, but I'm learning. Thoughts? (It's simple, that's the point. I'm still learning how the style plays out in an image editor.) (It's showcased next to Dr. K's gold, diamond, and redstone ore textures, 128x.)
What does everyone think of the tweaks I made to the Emerald Ore? It's not a copy of the other ores, because personally I like to make each ore slightly unique. But, I don't know how everyone else feels about that.
Looks awesome! I like the fact that it's different. Eventually, after you guys finish all the new blocks, I think it'd be cool if you went back and re-tex the original ores so they're not all the same pattern with different colors. but that's just my 2cents.

Either way, love this pack and good work!
I think that it's pretty funny that you mention that.
So do people want varying ores, then? I was working on what I feel are alts. Here's my coal, my emerald, and the original gold.
Is it possible to have random ore textures? Just like with random mob textures? Also, just imagine how cool those ores would look if the sparkle was animated....

I'm not so great with animations yet, but maybe in the future. As for random ore textures, I think there is a mod called RTM that does that? I may include support for it, if it isn't too difficult to implement.
Hey while you are working on the pack, I would like to point out that it is almost impossible to tell the difference between powered redstone, and unpowered redstone.

Does this mean that it'll be taken by the community now?
If anyone wants to share any textures, they're welcome to do so at any time. It's not yet decided when we'll start releasing the continuation version, though.
Bordercraft is definitely my favorite everyday pack, Von Doom's being my "I feel like somethin' freaky" pack, lol. So, I am extremely interested in having Bordercraft kept up to date. I prefer x128 and x256 resolutions at this time. I think that x512 should also be done, though, as there has been a HUGE advance recently in video cards due to Xbox and Playstation competition pushing video card creators to outdo each other and develop new tech (which is good for us PC owners as well ). With this jump in video card capabilities the prices of what were higher end video cards will come down and the new "higher end" cards will handle the x512 textures like x64 is handled now.
So, after all that blathering, I would basically say that all resolutions would be great to have even if updates are a bit slower on the higher res. I'm patient, I can wait for the majority to get theirs first. x128 is fine, though, if you decide to cap the textures there. I'm not complainin', that's for sure.
(EDIT)
Doh! Almost forgot to mention, I'd love to see CTMs and animation in the textures. A wink of sparkle in the gold and diamond, as well as other animations like flickering red lamps, etc, would be AWESOME! If you would like a good example, take a look at Von Doom's in the .
Also I appreciate the work everyone is doing, Ive been waiting for this pack for a long time, and am really excited to see it.
...but that's just like, my opinion, man.

Duly noted.
Also, for anyone curious, Dr. K has uploaded the updated version of the pack for 1.5. It's got a few small issues, but it's updated. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/133806-update-328-bordercraft-ver15/ for anyone who doesn't want to look for the link on the OP.
