Hmmmm, that's a brilliant idea with the small paintings. I always felt that they were too small to have any real 'painting' use :tongue.gif:
Do you mind if I use the same idea for one of my packs? I would credit the idea to you, even though I will make 100% my own pictures!
hey man just another suggestion here to make sure nobody steals it
make requirements like atleast thiry posts on this site and YOU HAVE TO BE A MEMBER, any newbie who wants to download has to contribute to minecraft community. so downloads wil be sent by pm only like what Yui did for her skins to prevent stealing
Thats complete ********.
Post number has NOTHING to do wither or not a person would steal a texture pack or not :/
A person with over 3000 posts could steal the texture pack and the honest joe newb having 4 posts could just use it and not steal it. Post number has nothing to do with the person themselfs :/

Other texture packs had similar ideas already so no need to credit anyone for a long old idea =s

but if you think about it, most likely someone with 3000 posts on this forum probly contributed to this community and would give where credit is due...
btw do you think in the future you will have custom mod textures

Right now I'm improving the oldest tiles (dirt, grass, stone), to bring them up to standard with the newer ones. I ended up completely redrawing the grass. Opinions?

Thats BS...I personaly know a user on here with a lot of posts who trys to steal stuff and pass it off as there own, also someone could simply spam 30 posts about nothing to get the download if they really wanted it.
Do not judge someone on there post count as that has nothing to do with the person. As a person with the required posts could still steal it if they wanted to =/

Looks amazing o.o please could you do an early release and just update it like everyone else does? I really want to try this texture pack out :s
FrigginSandvich, stripes that small couldn't be done without at LEAST going up to 64x. Sorry, but this is one of the many places where resolution forces a stylistic choice.
Wow, I hadn't seen any texture packs by you (Prolly because I'm a relative newcomer) but this is awesome! Didn't think it was 16x at first. Compliments aside, what texture you workin on currently?

The stripes on my birch trees are rather small and look good in 16x but they can't really be as small as the picture you showed xD
That would require really fine detailing....
I really like the grass though, looks nice and textured without being a massive mess of obviously tiled blocks!
Ugh, please everyone stop talking about painterly... its really distracting from the actual pack that this thread is supposed to be about, and on top of that...

He stole a number of my items and tiles outright. When I asked him to give me credit for them, he managed to convince all his fans that their very eyes were deceiving them... And yet, just so happened to update his pack on the very day I brought this to light, which just so happened to change some of the graphics in question...
I'm fine if people use my work, assuming they change it (that is to say, don't just copy it and tweak the color a bit) and /give me credit/. I said as much in the readme. All I want is credit where credit is due.
Now, I believe you that Kas used your work unfairly, but you yourself used many of the original textures from the default pack in yours, see: http://i55.tinypic.com/2ebvg2e.jpg
Obviously the wood, sand, and weapons in the default weren't used, they're just there to fill space, but practically everything else originated with Notch's original sprites, heck, paint's way of handling transparency revealed that the spots on the mushroom are even the same color ( http://i51.tinypic.com/23uefpx.jpg ) which leads me to think that you just used a select tool on the red of the original mushroom then tweaked the hue or some other easy way of editing it, which is something you complain about regarding Kas's edit. Oh, and on top of that the diamond also shares the same shades of white AND is simply a palette swap of Notch's.
Im not trying to insult you for anything like that, but I think you're perhaps taking this a bit too harshly, yeah it sucks that your stuff was improperly used, but Kas has more or less changed the originals and has since made other original textures, it's not worth stressing yourself out over, and this is minecraft, we make more knock offs than the Chinese, it's expected, you should just brush it off, hold your head high, and continue working on your own pack, because it's very well done and shouldn't just be derailed indefinitely because someone borrowed textures without properly crediting you
Oh and also, the rest of you are the ones who are really being unreasonable with the painterly bull, Taehl might be the one sore about it but she didn't (or at least wasn't the first to) suggest suing him or attacking his site (plus, I don't think any court would take seriously the idea of suing one person for the unfair use of another person's minecraft texture pack).
Please, please continue work on this without worrying what stupid people do, theres always going to be someone dumb out there that abuses what you've made, if you're still sore why not just email Kas and politely ask him one last time to add some form recognition, I mean he has a ton of stuff from other people that clearly says it was taken or inspired by them and that he has permission, who knows maybe this is a way of telling he's matured a little
-sigh- well I'm done bitching now, by the way...

The mini-spiders on the back of it terrify me. D:
I suggest you add the individual mini-spiders to the spider_eyes.png to make it even creepier.
I like this idea, if even just for using it on the baby spiders' eyes

Not quite. I do use the default textures unchanged in VERY limited situations (for instance, the sponge (which isn't in the game anymore anyway) and the gravel, which I love the look of), but in nearly every other case where something looks similar, I redrew it to look similar. I know this sounds like nit-picking, but hear me out. I wanted to use a lot of the same shapes and silhouettes as default MC so that new players would recognize things more easily (Team Fortress 2 is an amazing example of using unique silhouettes to help players recognize things. Look it up if you don't believe the tremendous impact it has), however, I did redraw each graphic.
For example, here's how I made the red mushroom:
1) Copy the spot pattern, move it aside for now.
2) Color-pick the mushroom's red, tweak color to suit TTP, flood-fill the entire shroom with it. (This is important! By doing this, Notch's pixels are GONE.)
3) Freehand some light and shadow with the shading tool.
4) Bring back the white spots. Change their brightness and contrast (I know they look identical, but I made them slightly darker). (So, yes, those five pixels belong to Notch, but saying "You stole those five pixels!" is nearly the most petty accusation ever)
5) Choose a new stem color, draw stem, darken the right pixel for shading.
6) Also, in TTP3, I've further changed it by adding a subtle outline. The default has no outline.
So as you can see, I actually worked to do that - I didn't just run a filter over it and call it mine (like Kas did). Also, I credited Notch. That's a VERY important difference, there.

I gave that a try. The former idea looked bizarre, didn't really fit. The latter doesn't really work because the mini-spiders are too tiny to actually have eyes. ^^*

message to OP: Come on release some of it already =s
That's fine. I'm glad I was inspirational.
As for the actual art-paintings, I found something really good to use. I'm currently awaiting permission to use it, though.
Wow, that art is great!
I feel like it would fit this pack really, really well :biggrin.gif:

Its also nice to learn about the Painterly pack!
Bookmarked, looking forward to using it.
