So I was working on my dirt when I thought to myself, how do new people learn about pack styles? So for all those new ppl out there~
RPG Themed pack - A pack that inspires adventure, often has a very distinct colour or architecture scheme, usually has dark, bold colours - Good Example ~ Dokucraft
Fantasy Themed Pack - Vibrant colours, very distinct themes, as with RPG. Can often be linked with an RPG themed. Usually consisting of elaborate designs and detail - Good Example ~ Jehkoba's fantasy pack
Cartoon Pack - Unreal things with not much texture or detail, often uses bright, saturated colors
Realism Pack - Textures resembling real life, to make the pack as lifelike as possible - Good Example ~ LB Photo Realism
Simple Pack - Nothing really special to it, just plain colors no texture, usually 8x and almost Always Bucket-Fill - Good Example ~ Simplecraft (Actually, it's horrible why would you play with a simple pack?)
Simplistic Pack - A smaller pack, also usually 8x, It has texture and depth yet small. - Good Example ~ Puffy Lines
Medieval Pack - Generally dark and heavily textured, to resemble the medieval ages. sometimes has a small horror element to it
Horror Pack - A pack that creates a dark atmosphere, To invoke a sense of fear. Usually has dark textures - Good Example ~ Isolation
Old School Pack - A pack that tends to look like the pixel art games from the 90's, they're often folowing a color scheme - Good example ~ Wayukian pack
Special thanks to DanCraft, appleslinky, Leostereo, and NorthernerSouth!
RPG Themed pack - Idunno
Fantasy Themed Pack - Sort of like Cartoon pack but with more texture and a different feel
Cartoon Pack - Unreal things, bright colors not much texture
Realism Pack (Duhhh) - Closest thing to real
Simple Pack - Nothing really special to it, just plain colors no texture
Medieval Pack - Old type pictures like castle bricks instead of compacted stone
These are what I think they are. Not much explanation but you can sort of get my point.
RPG Themed pack: Generally a pack that inspires adventure, often has a very distinct colour or architecture scheme, often consists of dark, bold colours.
Fantasy Themed Pack: Vibrant colours, very distinct themes, as with RPG. Can often be linked with an RPG themed. Usually consisting of elaborate designs and detail.
Cartoon Pack: Often bright and cheery, not too much detail or texture. Textures often have crudely drawn, but cute, designs. Bright, saturated colours.
Realism Pack: Textures resembling real life, to make the pack as lifelike as possible.
Simple Pack: Little to no detail, limited colour palettes, often consistent themes.
Medieval Pack: Can be a mixture of realism, RPG and Fantasy. Generally dark and heavily textured, to resemble the medieval ages. Often has a small horror element to it.
My pack does have some texture to it, just... less. I try to go for a cartoony-ish feel without making the colours all neon and such. Some of my textures are more detailed than others. Still, thanks for the mention; I appreciate it. :smile.gif:
Aside from that, this is a good idea. It could be very handy for those who are - how shall I say - less experienced people around here. I wish you the best of luck in your venture.
I should probably add 2 versions: simplistic, like yours and simple, a bucket fill pack. And i have to say, this was partly for myself too.
A couple pack examples:
Catroon - Go take a look at JoliCraft. It's a gorgeous pack, and a fine example of how the game can be made more friendly.
Medieval - NorseCraft (I believe) is the name of one with a very specific dark ages theme, and also has fantastic art.
Hope it helps.
P.S. Thanks for sticking my pack in here. Much appreciated.
Horror: A pack that creates a dark and disturbing atmosphere, to invoke the sense of fear into players. Usually has very dark colours, and can range from derelict houses to gothic castle style textures.
"I'm an outsider by choice, but not truly.
It’s the unpleasantness of the system that keeps me out.
I’d rather be in, in a good system. That’s where my discontent comes from:
being forced to choose to stay outside.
My advice: Just keep movin’ straight ahead.
Every now and then you find yourself in a different place."
