I've made a few textures here and there before, so a few days ago I decided to start working on a full-fledged texture pack.It is a 16x texture pack.It may not have been the smartest choice for a first texture pack, but im going for more of a theme than just changing the appearence of the default ones to my own versian of the same textures(well I technically am, but you get what I mean(not just changing a birch tree to a different looking birch tree for example)) All of these textures are completely original except for the stick texture.(though I realize that the wooden planks texture looks incredibly similar to the default one, trust me, I made it from scratch)Some of these have minor issues, and some of them look too simplistic or too complex compared to the rest, but withut further ado, here they are:
Birch tree:
Pine tree:
Regular tree(only one the foliage color change currently applies to, not sure why):
Large stairs:
Doors:
Fence:
Ladder:
Some items:
in case you can't read the signs well enough,Left ot right:
Bow(string is going to be blue in the texture pack;wood matches stick texture)
Arrow(matches stick texture, feather texture, and flint texture)
Flint
Flint and steel
Feather(Chickens are going to be brown in the texture pack)
Stick(slightly edited default stick texture, matches tree texture the same way the default stick matches the tree textures(uses outer color of trees for the color of the stick)
Bookshelf:
All feedback is welcome. Remember, it is not finished. Im not sure why my custom foliage color only applies to normal trees, Ill have to work that out if I continue with this.
I like the way you're going with this. The wood planks need some work though. To me the grey between them sticks out like a sore thumb; the shading between them should be the same hue as the planks themselves, just darker. A little more work to differentiate between them and the default pattern couldn't hurt either. Even if it WAS done pixel-by-pixel it looks like you just applied a color filter to it. This is a texture pack we're talking about here. People make decisions on texture packs based on how they LOOK rather than HOW that look came about.

Yeah, the grey was me trying to incorporate all the colors of the wood in the texture, but it failed. I was actually already planning on changing the grey, but now I think im just gonna redo the entire texture. Thanks for the feedback :smile.gif:
Interesting theme idea, although I fear that some of your textures ave tiling issues, particularly the regula tree log...
Though if you get that sorted out you could have something quite interesting here :smile.gif:
Could you point out the tiling issue for me please? I've been trying to find any, but the wood texture seems to flow smoothly to me.
It's a bit noisy, I would tone down the yellow and gray in planks. As above there is some tiling issues, but I like birch.
Also, birch leaves are hardcoded into the game, you can't change the colors of those.
CURSE YOU HARDCODED TEXTURES/COLORS! Are you positive? I swear the painterly pack changed the birch leaf texture in my game.....and yeah, Im probably just gonna redo the entire wooden plank texture, as it seems thats the weak point of my textures so far.

LOVE IT. I think my friend would love this too. She's really into magic stuff and she's just been getting into minecraft. This will be amazing :biggrin.gif:
