There are many Mario-themed resource packs that aim to 'replicate' the theme by ripping sprites from the NES games and calling it a texture. My old pack Super Minio Bros did just that, and it was terribly ugly, just like the original games.
New Super Minio Bros. is the spiritual successor to Super Minio Bros, focussing on the more beautiful modern games, and is comprised entirely of original hand-pixeled textures, not stretched NES sprites. I have been working on this since April 2015.
Make sure you use MCPatcher or Optifine to make the most of this pack!
There are also many custom block models and sounds, too!
(well, the sounds are ripped from the Mario games, whatever)
Looks incredible! I especially love the way you did the mobs, every one of them seems to fit perfectly with it's texture. Those Yoshi horses are super creative too!
Wow, this looks very good. Most Mario packs I see on here use odd color palettes making the end product unappealing to use. This pack on the other hand has a nice, bight, colorful palette that blends with each block very well. As Joeismoe said, the mobs are done very well, that Donkey Kong Iron Golem texture gave me a good laugh. Great job on the pack!
+ custom block model for mushrooms
+ ocelots (look like wigglers)
+ WIP Bowser ender dragon
+ sounds for ocelots, zombies, ender dragon, some slime
+ dark oak, acacia planks
+ custom block model for leaves
* revised paintings
I'm having a problem loading this resource pack. I'm using MC1.10.2 with Liteloader 1.10.2 loading Optifine 1.10.2 HD U D1 and no other mods. The pack version is "newsuperminiobrosv2010645555.zip". When I try to load the pack, Minecraft deselects all packs and gives me this error in the session log:
[11:47:17] [Client thread/WARN]: Unable to load block model: 'minecraft:block/flower_pot_mushroom_red' for variant: 'minecraft:flower_pot#contents=mushroom_red': com.google.gson.JsonSyntaxException: com.google.gson.stream.MalformedJsonException: Expected name at line 18 column 14

I'm hoping that you can fix this problem. If you need/want more information, just let me know what all you desire and I will attempt to supply it. Otherwise please let me know when you've fixed it. Thanks in advance.

Yeah...
I had the pack working, then changed some things and uploaded it. I forgot to test the pack before uploading it, so as a result, I uploaded this broken version.
I would try to fix it, but I am currently away from an actual PC, and will be for a while (writing this on my phone), so I won't be able to update the pack for a while :C
Also, I have no idea why the pack doesn't work in it's current state...
So, until I can get my hands on an actual PC, you'll just have to use the previous version D:
One year later, the third update is finally out!
+ custom block models for half the flowers
+ Bowser enderdragon and sounds
+ Birdo llamas and sounds
+ Kamek witch and sounds (the sounds are bad, i know, i'll change them in the next update)
+ enderman, silverfish, elder guardian, magma cube, wither skeleton, snow golem
+ placeholder vindicator and guardian, they will be changed to something else in the next update
+ sounds for horse, cow, ocelot and ghast
+ new font!
+ red sand and sandstone based on Sandy Kingdom from Odyssey
+ acacia and birch trees and planks
+ beds
+ command blocks, based on different dice blocks from Mario Party games
+ shulker boxes
+ observer
+ torch and redstone torch
+ sugarcane
+ magic particles
+ diamond sword, based on the Master Sword (from Zelda, there are no swords in Mario)
* more stone random varients
* changed spruce block model again
* some different paintings
* editted tnt

Version 2.1 is up! I fixed the issue that caused the pack to crash!
(by deleting a blockstate file)
