Gonna be honest, here. This is very difficult to look at. The thing about classic Mario textures was that they were limited to a very small palette by the technology. But they still managed to get detail and shading in there where they could through dithering. The pipes are incredibly detailed for only having two colours. The piranha plant and the bricks have three colours, but still have depth and shadow, and appear three-dimensional.
I'm also confused by the mixed styles. You've got bucket fill for the majority of it, and then the ground looks more suited to a Mario 64 texture with the soft edges.
Take a look at some of the other excellent Mario packs out there. A lot of them do mix Mario styles, but they pick similar styles between the games to mix and match.
