"newtexture" is just a placeholder name for the new default shield texture that corresponds to the "generated" model type. You can use anything there, really. When I was first testing it, I just made it a diamond texture.
As far as I can tell, you can't retexture items that use custom block models or special built in models. Only generated models. But if you figure something out, feel free to let me know!
This is a texture pack, not a mod. You would not be able to wear the backpack. It would be possible to retexture shulker boxes into different colored backpacks. They will hold your items, but you would have to place it down to open it.
EDIT: you could wear non-functional cosmetic backpacks like a cape, as another armor retexture.
Could you add a YEE mask in the next bonus chest or make a meme update with YEE stuff and other meme things? Also for a bonus chest or something, you could add a Xenomorph costume/armor to the game from the Alien movies.
Per Items with an Unbreaking Enchantment do not always lose durability when used; for a given enchantment level, the chance that they will use durability is 1 in (1+level). The result is that they will last an extra level times their original durability, give or take a few.
What may be useful is a conversion chart to "upgrade" a material such as a leather helmet (reskinned as a fedora) to Diamond Armor durability and Protection. http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Armor goes into the math details about armor, but I'm not familiar with the specifics of enchantment. What I would like would be a way to "enchant" leather armor, even if I have to use creative or /give to get it, so a leather helmet "fedora" provides roughly the same protection and durability as a diamond helmet. The ability to approximate a higher tier material with a lower tier plus enchantments would be a great way to extend this texture pack without adding more textures to ItemBound. For instance, perhaps the "Santa Disguise" could rank with diamond for protection while still being of the proper material.
Would anyone have an eye for the numbers with the understanding of how materials work to produce such a thing? Putting a table like that into the ItemBound documentation would be great!
I had the idea of what would fill out what I'm looking for and be generally useful: A "pets" expansion.
<material> collar (such as leather collar) in place of the helmet. This could go from plain leather to leather with iron, gold, and diamond studs.
<material> harness (such as a leather harness) in place of the chest piece. Same as above, only more of a harness for the chest area.
<material> booties (such as leather booties) in place of boots. I'm not clear if "mitts and boots" can be done covering both the hands and feet as one piece, so this may have to just appear as "low cut boots" of a given material.
<material> belt (such as a gold studded belt) in place of pants. This would resemble the collar and harness, but be for the waist area. Ideally, this would "mesh" with a harness of any other material so it appears as part of the harness, if only a little longer.
This would allow players with "dog/ cat" or other "pet" type avatar to wear those pieces and still appear in any given material as they intend. Though of course, some others may ALSO wish to wear these for various reasons, but I don't plan to go there.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Pet_Month in the US is in May, according to the Wiki article, and that would be a good target date to release a "pet" expansion of this nature. Hopefully, "studded collars, belts and harnesses" will be quite simple to do in "16 px" and won't take too much effort.
Hey Blue, Because you need optifine to use Itembound, and optifine has dynamic lighting, can you add electric torches and candles, maybe make blaze rods electric torches and torches candles
@SenpaiYT: Heh... I do like how the updates are generally around a common theme, though. "Halloween Update", "Christmas Update" and so on. I'm still sorting out "patches" for BDCraft, so you put the BDCraft "patch" on LAST after ItemBound, then your bow, pickaxe and so on show the default BDCraft items correctly, while everything ELSE still shows correctly. I'm not certain how that will pan out, though. The 54 hr. weeks at work are pretty rough.
As for terraria items, they've been requested by a lot of people, but I'd need to figure out a way to re-paint them so they look distinct enough from the game's textures. (Their usage agreement forbids ripping and redistributing textures)
If we are all lucky, Re-Logic (the developer of Terraria) *might* have a "community use" policy for which this could fall under. Maybe. http://paizo.com/paizo/about/communityuse is one example of a "community use" policy. "Give credit where credit is due", "Do *NOT* make money off us" and "Don't claim any 'official status' with what you are allowed to do" usually covers it.
But someone else will have to look that up for Terraria, if it is there to be seen.
***********************
The hard thing, but usually much more rewarding, is for someone artistic to make up their own cool textures for things and offer them gratis to this project, keeping the same flavor and style as is already in use. Terraria has "cool stuff"? Make something cooler. Make stuff people wish was in Terraria.
I'd absolutely adore if you made tea available.
I'm an rabid tea drinker and love doing in where ever I can, including in-game.
Though this is just a suggestion, clearly... I'm not all "YOU HAVE TO DO THIS YOU HAVE TO BECuSE OF MY FREEDOM! >:O" type of person, so if you dislike the idea trash it. ;3
Other suggestions are making a wall thingy that looks like a PC screen, maybe a button that looks like a mouse and a pressure plate that looks like a key bored.
Elytra to look like Buzz's wings from Toystory would be funny.
Elyrta leaves would be cool, and/or bug wings of different types.
For flint and steel someone said a lighter, that's a cool idea so in the same style how about a book of matches?
For snowballs it could be fun to make rocks, and poop. Because throwing rocks and poop at people is cool, right?
For more item frame painting thingies you could make a world map, I mean those are always pretty to have. Not like the maps we have in Minecraft but of The whole world like they have in school.
Also maybe a write on/white off board/chalk bored?
That's call I can thing up from my tiny brain right now. :v
Hope you like a few of the ideas!
Ditch any ones you dislike, obviously. :3

Curse PremiumIt wasn't too complicated of a change. I just changed this line:
to this
"parent": "item/generated", "textures": { "layer0": "items/newtexture" },"newtexture" is just a placeholder name for the new default shield texture that corresponds to the "generated" model type. You can use anything there, really. When I was first testing it, I just made it a diamond texture.

hey, could you add backpacks/bags??

next update add a flint and steel called fire flower based of mario games

Curse PremiumThanks for the suggestions. A handful of these have already been planned for coming updates, so don't worry.
Add a shredder and a hydrolic press and a vacume chamber :3 jk

I guess some of these can be awesome to fly with.
Not sure how to contact the creator.

A good corporation listens to its lawyers.
It is the job of a lawyer to say "no".
You don't get told "no" unless you ask.

p.s
yes im the same king_derp that asked on planet minecraft for the video game update
Why not full costumes for all fnaf charicters and maybe items such as foxies hook and chicas cupcake

Aww, dang.
Oh well, it was a fun idea anyways. X3
