This has been something I've been working on for a little bit, I have been away from Minecraft for quite some time, but I got back into it recently with the 1.9 Snapshots. Now that 1.9 has been released I figured it was time to release this pack. I'm going for something that looks fairly natural while still keeping to a clean design. Aside from that, I wouldn't say there's any real theme behind it except for what I think looks good.
It's very much a work in progress; so, any and all feedback, suggestions, and criticism is welcome.

Hello there!
I decided to try out a texture pack that was 1.9 compatible, relatively 'undiscovered', and was early on in development. Surprisingly, it didn't take long.
I ended up in this texture pack, Resting Ruins.
I always like to give both positive and negative feedback whenever I review something, so here goes!
POSITIVE:
-Absolutely Nostalgic Feel of TinyPixels. I really loved that texture pack, and seeing that art style redone here, I immediately fell in love with it.
-It feels like actual time was put into it. I've seen a lot of different texture packs that, I will be honest, take an image off the internet, blur it, and change the colors slightly, and then resharpen it. Photorealistic packs I feel (Notice how I'm giving benefit of the doubt) are notorious for this. However, this pack screams "EFFORT" in every block. Sure, some textures look very similar to other texture packs, but I felt like that was the point. I legitimately felt right up front like this was to reboot some old retro texture packs
-Because packs like the OCD pack aren't out yet for 1.9, this is perfect timing for redstone texture packs. It's clear, it's not distracting, and you can immediately tell what everything is. I love it.
NEGATIVES:
-It feels too grainy.... For a retro texture pack like TinyPixels, it was simple. It was one color on a square with a bit of darker and brighter pixels. It wasn't heavy on the eye. This pack, however, is a bit too much. There's too many pixels. Simply taking the same color around it and say, turning a single pixel into a 2x2 block would make this look less distracting. Or, better yet, take the blur tool in photoshop and soften up the rough edges on the more natural blocks like grass blocks or stone. Especially stone.
-When mining, I have a hard time distinguishing blocks between, say andesite and stone. Take this example:
At first, I thought the block i was looking at was diorite. I then looked down and concluded that that couldn't be diorite. I then thought it could be andesite. I turn the textures off and it turns out I'm looking at plain old stone with andesite above it. A very simple solution I can think of is making the andesite texture a bit darker. It's like how bedrock is just stone with 90%ish contrast. Just simply turn the brightness down about 10% and I'll be able to tell the difference. And while you are at it, make stone a bit less yellow, if you can see what I mean in the screenshot. (Note that my only light source is behind me)
-Oh, one last thing i just thought of. Pumpkins look too evil. Just saying.
Wow! thanks for trying out my pack and double thanks for the well thought out criticism. I really appreciate it.

I kind of feel the same about the stone. It's gone through a ton of changes and different looks until I settled on what's there now, I noticed the graininess as well but I thought maybe I was being overcritical of myself and figured I'd just move on or I wouldn't get anything else done. I've shown this pack to a few others and they've never commented on the stone so I figured it was just me, but I'll definitely look into smoothing stuff out.

I can totally see what you mean. Originally I wanted all the types of rock to kind of blend together, I may have done in too much. I'll try adjusting the contrast and see how it looks. As far as the stone being yellow, I'm afraid I really don't see that. it does have a slight brownish tint to it, but not much. Looking at your screen shot it does look a bit yellower than I'm use to seeing it, perhaps my video setting are preventing me from seeing it how you are, so I'll look into that as well.

Haha, I was kind of going for that. I've been thinking of adding some variants though.

Alright. I'll download it and mess around with it and see how I recognize things.
As for the stone lighting issue, I dug out a small shelter for the night and proceeded to put the torch in the staircase entrance behind me, which kinda made the stone look a bit yellow.

I would say with utmost certainty that this stone looks a lot nicer. There's not much that's changed (I had to compare them side by side), but I immediately noticed a difference when I upgraded. Looks nice!
