After running at a steady 60 fps, I drop to around 20 when I use Bloom Lighting. I think it's just my graphics card, though. But other then that, I love it! Anything bright does look nice at night, but I wish I could do something about the fps drop.
There are two settings. click Super Secret settings again and you you will get the brightness with out the bloom.(Just a suggestion)
ATI Radeon HD 4270, But if my graphics card is outdated for this, wouldn't that mean I couldn't see any shaders in super secret setting?
Ya... It is not compatible with Radeons or any AMD's for that matter. You might be able to see some other. Mine just does not work with those for some reason.
Hmmm, yeah, but it's also meant to adapt better. I wouldn't really want a change in brightness but a change in... automatic change in brightness! yeah. The bloom when I'm inside my house or when I'm in cave looks great, but outside and even when half of the screen is very bright, the bloom will just reduce a little bit, and I think that's what makes it a bit annoying for some users.

In which game? Bloom always adapt. You, that are always talking about realism, should see how an average camera adapts the bloom.
This is what I mean:
Almost full bloom:
Bloom adapts, and is almost unnoticeable now:
Full bloom:
Bloom 'tries' to adapt, but it's still very bright:
I also took some pics of Battlefield 4:
To get the bloom to lower as much as in those games, you have to look directly to the sky AND use OptiFine's zoom to look at a cloud... I think that's the problem that people have tried to express.

That's confusing as all hell. I have An AMD Radeon in my computer, it works perfectly.
It's working for me, Alvoria. I'm using it with MC 1.8.1 pre3 and the latest MCPatcher and it's working fine.
Excellent and simple to use, thebaum64, but just a tad too bright for my taste, I tend to like things on the dark side. Is there anyway of varying the intensity of the glow, that would make it a real winner for me?
Anyone who would want to brighten up an otherwise dark pack should use this though, I can't commend it enough. It has an interesting effect on my lava too, making it slightly psychedelic...more like a cross between Borderlands lava and something radioactive...a great effect!
I would love to use and recommend others who like my pack to use it if I could tone down the brightness, but in any event I would recommend everyone try it. Something special indeed! Well done.
bloom and HDR are almost always exaggerated too much, so the client will see an effect.
only in one video of (i think it was ArmA3) they used it in a realistic amount, so when they announced the HDR effect, i was looking for that exaggerated fail, but it was very subtle.

I completely agree with you there.
Some games go way over the top...for my liking anyway and I've never seen, or have overlooked, any game that includes some kind of slider to heighten or minimise the effects of bloom and HDR. In some cases it's either on and burn your eyeballs out the back of yer head or switched off.
thebaum64 has created a really useful add-on here, which works wonderfully in some areas of my world, but in others is just too bright, but that's my fault for making and using a very dark texture pack and using torches to excess.

You can edit it in the files, I think properties. I will look into it

Oh, thanks mate. I never did come back to you for instructions on how to do that.
If you were able to make it possible to adjust things, or even post a little guide on what properties to change to be able to 'slide' things up and down...that would be amazing! It would be awesome if I could just have a slight glow on torches and the like.
As I said above, my observations are absolutely no criticism of your excellent mod, more that my own world and texture pack are a bit wacky when it comes to lighting.
